  1. just looking for some info on the zenith flash dot, ive been told they are very good night optics but i am interested to find out just how large the flash dot actually is, looking on the s/b web site the picture of the no7 dot looks very large and what i really want is a small pin point dot, i use an ior at the moment and the dot is the finest that ive found so far, i use it for night shooting foxes and i have not looked at the s/b yet , so some sound advice would be helpfull....thanks
  2. thanks lads, particulary interested in the accupoint 2.5-10x56 as a foxing scope to be used at night with a lamp but as always these things look nice in the adds but it is a problem to actually find one to have a look through before you buy, dont suppose any of you know where in the uk they are stocked?
  3. been looking at these scopes on the net, they look interesting, just looking for advice on the the quality of the optics from other users particulary on the fibre optic ill rets....thanks
  4. i too have made my own which hinges up over the roof when you need to open the door but to anchor it to the roof i used three old mag mounts bolted under the cross bar, this system holds a blitz 240 just fine
  5. a mate asked me today if you can buy a blitz 240 lamp which can be mounted to his vehicle remote handle (the type that sticks up through the roof)? i answered, i dont know, does anybody know if there is one and if so where can he get one from?
  6. i must say i tend to agree with that, as i was always told (and always do) you look at the bird and not the sight
  7. while at the optitions the other day i find that i have left eye dominance creeping in (must be an age thing) so i am interested in the fibre optic sights, i would be interested in advice from people who have tried these, do they actually work and which ones are the best? i have seen prices from £15 for the ruby to £30 for the easi hit
  8. trying to contact this company, seems impossable, do any p/w members know if they are still trading?
  9. for sale hawke eclipse 4-16x50 ao 1inch tube paralax adjustable perfect condition £45 posted
  10. been to the shooting show today and had a good look at all the air rifles, but the ones that caught my eye were the new KUB rifles, they seem to handle very nice and are light too, does anybody have experiance of using these rifles in the field? i would be interested in your views
  11. a mate of mine went pigeon shooting today and got well and truley bogged down on a drove with his one year old navara, while walking to the farm to get a tractor billy off roader came splashing down the track in his jimmy and offered to give a pull, my mate said you will never pull me with that, but billy off roader was more than happy to try and sure enough he pulled the navara free and continued to pull it half a mile to the hard road, a farmer frend saw this and told me about it, so i am waiting for my mate to tell me the story and ill give him a week before i tackle him about it and of course let the rest of thu county know....so its one up for the terrier jimmy
  12. for sale, air arms s510-sl carbine fitted with air arms moderator and hawke eclipse 4-16x50ao scope and of course the filling adaptor, the gun is one year old and has had very little use in 177 cal £550
  13. thanks seeker, just looked at that site and sure enough the rem seems to be one of the milder primers, which explains why i never seem to reach the expected vel of my home loads using the hodgdon chart as they use win primers, I'm not using the max load in my 243 so i will check the vel using the wins and the same powder charge.....again thanks for the info
  14. with cartridge reloading I've always used rem large rifle primers simply because that's what my local shop stocks, but i bought a pack of winchester primers the other day my question is, are they any hotter or just the same as the rem ones?
  15. so it is 3 to 2 in favor of the harris at the moment, can i ask you harris boys, can you tell me seriously how this make is better than the others ?.....thanks for the replies i am going to buy one in the next couple of days
  16. looking to buy a bipod i notice that the harris type are a lot more expensive than the others, my local shop stocks harris and deben, the two look nearly identical, deben being a tad more heavy, but the harris is a lot more money, my question is , do the less expensive ones, eg deben, do the same job or do you get what you pay for?
  17. thanks, simple answer then, but after looking at the non typical antlers through the scope and them not being on his head when i got to him, for a second i thought i had shot a doe
  18. with this talk of hydraulic shock in mind maybe someone could explain what happened in this instance, i shot a roebuck about a month ago and when i walked up to it the antlers had come completely away from its head leaving two red pads on its skull, 58gv max 243 115yds neck shot...has this happened to any of you?
  19. looking for a blitz 240, pm me if you have one to sell
  20. no it has the capped type
  21. Scope for sale is a 4x14x56 illuminated 4a centre dot reticule with 30 mil tube in as new condition except ring marks, not dents, about 5 months old, boxed with warranty card £670 inc postage to uk. sorry cant do pics so look on the ior valdada web site
  22. i asked the question because while out lamping foxes the other night i found myself opening my left eye while taking the shot which Ive never done before, would the advice for keeping both eyes open have the same effect at night ?
  23. rifle shooters , whats your thoughts on keeping both eyes open while looking through your scope at your target animal?, what are the pros and cons of this method? ive never done it but some do.
  24. thanks for the replies all, the scope has slipped in the mounts it has moved forward or the rings have moved rearwards maybe just not tight enough so took the scope off and re assembled it and tightened the (leupold)rings as tight as i dare and it shoots fine now, yes i have adjusted the trigger to a 1kg pull, this is the first centre fire rifle Ive had that does not have a set trigger (i am a fan of set triggers) so maybe its a matter of getting used to it.....again thanks
  25. while zeroing my rifle in this afternoon i fired 8 shots at a 70mm circle at 150yds with strange results , 2 shots hit at 12o,clock inside the circle, 2 hit at 6o,clock inside the circle, 2 at 9o,clock just outside and 2 at 7o,clock just outside, each pair 10mm apart, could anybody tell me the reason for this or if it has happened to you, the gun is about two months old and i have noticed this before....tikka t3 varmint, 20in heavy barrel in 243, wildcat moderator, 55gn blitzking homeloaded 3700fps, any suggestions appreciated
