  1. cut the bottom off a 2l pop bottle and stuff loosley with straw hang upside down so straw is touching ground but the not the bottle near the food, wait till morn then nip in and carefully remove the bottle and hey presto full of earwigs desopse of them as you feel fit, keep going with new straw untill all gone.
  2. What has helped with me is that I throw a dummy let him see, sent him out and tell him back back ect until he has it (practice loads). I then use ground that has dead spots in it (so he cant see where it lands) and throw the dummy into those so he knows the direction but not the distance. if you ve done the first part enough then he ll progress on.
  3. To answer your question "No" Ive not heard of any thing except from asking that if you do breed from your dog that you come back for advice for finding a suitable partner.
  4. Father in law called his lab bast*rd as a joke then cashed his chips in two weeks later no one had the heart to change it. Not good when calling it back in a park full of oldies and kids.
  5. With my dog if the hair is long between his toes he gets grit caught in there and rubs it raw. I use tea tree oil and aqueous cream mixed together. Stops him licking and heals up quick
  6. use dead ground as much as possible ie try to keep something between youthat will hide you from the bunny. clumps of nettles, fence post ect are good to help you get into range.
  7. so long as their not cooked its fine
  8. Just passing this on Thought this might be of interest and worth circulating: On Friday Chris Burns in Kent had 5 dogs and his landrover stolen. None have turned up as yet. The landrover is a dark green 110 high cab with dog kennels built into the back and plate DOG K9. The spare wheel cover has "Breezeleaf Spaniels" printed on it. The dogs are much more important; 2 cocker pups of 8 months one black and one liver - and 2 spaniel pups of the same age - one black and white and one liver and white, and his current trial dog "Twig". There is a photo of Twig on Breezeleafspaniels.co.UK and video of the pups on Shooting Times where Chris is doing short training videos (also on YouTube). As it is so close to Christmas it might be that these pups have been stolen to order - but if they are going to homes the families are in for a nasty surprise. These are full on working dogs, not house trained, always kenneled outside, and unless they are with people who know about working dogs they will be very destructive. Docked and dew clawed too. So they could turn up for re-homing and they must have suddenly turned up somewhere too Can I ask you to send this round ? The more people that know about this the more possibility there is of something good happening here.
  9. Rabbits see movement perfectly and thats what gets them running so use cover if your moving around. Most important learn to guestamate distances eg my rifle is zeroed to 55 yards but I know where on the milidots in the scope where 75yds, 65yds, 45yds, 35yds, 20yds are . If you can match that ranging to the bunnies in the field your laughing as this is why most people miss apart from poor shooting technique
  10. sorry just read properly I get my dog realy excited before i send him out and i also drop off the particular exercise to once maybe twice a week and just do basic training during that time so hes begging when he does do the exercise
  11. try putting the bird in a stocking in training as it keeps the feathers under control until your dog gets use to carrying birds
  12. And driven is when you get your missus to drive you :o
  13. Anyone got a copy of BREAKING CLAYS - TARGETS, TACTICS, TIPS & TECHNIQUES that they wish to part with. Regards Ben
  14. I say get it. Get written permission incl. any live stock or anything of value thats on the farm in your permission then look for other land showing the permission. As for price, haggle, start low and add a bottle to it. Then when you go for more land only admit you pay any thing only if you have to then tell them you pay about 60% less than what you do.
  15. I dont like them thus dont have them. P.S. that would be even more expensive with interest added
  16. Could you tell me if their are any payment options for BASC membership as I know loads of rough shooters who would prefer to be with the BASC myself included, but can only afford to get insurance, sometimes with, sometimes without an organisational body behind it. With the credit crunch, bills going up ect and getting less overtime it seems some people dont have a choice who they get insurance with or which organisation they can join.
  17. A friend of mine who told me about dogs collapsing due to low sugar levels reccommends this: Kronch Pemmikan Feeding Bar Kronch Pemmikan is a segmented bar which is designed to allow large amounts of easily digestible energy to be given to a dog, without overfilling it’s stomach. Bar is divided into 8 pieces each weighing 50g to make feeding easier. Pemmikan is ideal for hunting, guard and working dogs, giving a constant performance throughout the day, and making the dog more attentive. It is also ideal for show dogs, as it reduces the stress that the dog feels during the long waiting periods, and so making it easier to handle. This is especially relevant if the dog has not been fed on the day of the show. It can also be used for underweight dogs. Depending on weight, and level of activity, 100-200g a day can be fed to active or compeditive dogs. The pieces can be broken up and fed at intervals during the needed period, and effects will be seen after 30 minutes, with optimum results seen after 1 1/2 hours Kronch Pemmikan contains 24% protein, and 59% fat. Ingredients: Lard, vegetable fat, glucose, maize, barley, brewer’s yeast, rice, sugar beet and garlic Not tried it yet so I cant say for myself. Ebays the cheapest place. Ben
