  1. 140 Gram? thats one hell of a bullet, bet it takes the full LB of varget, lol. 140gram = 2160.53gn
  2. I had a half tub of varget and would of given it a good go but being like rocking horse poo i thought i would give up after 40 test rounds. the H414 is easier to obtain at the moment Melk, your to kind. JDog, Not really interesting, just luck on dropping in on a usable loading for a 243. it only took 20 rounds to stumble across a sweet loading
  3. sorry JDog. . for some reason this little calibre has got me all fired up. no idea why but i have put a little more effort into this one.
  4. You also have the IMR4350 which is said to work well. i did try the varget but was not happy with it. H414 throws very nicely and is in the top area of the reloading tables, i think i was settled on the powder before i knew what bullet i wanted. saying that i have to roll something over now and have a look at damage. fox i think first. i will try getting a short range and long range then skin them to give an idea. The trigger is almost the same but the trigger in the M*** are lighter than the T3. One of my T3's have a lighter trigger in it and it is very sweet to shoot. i have another spring waiting to got into the other T3 but im in no great hurry on that rifle.
  5. Today i had a chance to test reloads. The rifle is a 2nd hand Tikka M595 in.243. Trigger polished and adjusted, still needs a little less pull weight. also the bolt and firing pin polished. new stock as i dont like wood. and the barrel needed reblueing and the crown was rusty so a 11degree cut and polish sorted that. Leupold VX-3 4.5 x 14 -50mm scope with varmint ret. Went out last week and we not happy with the bullets, nosler 70gn BT or the powder. Varget. At best i was getting 150mm at 200 meters. Started again with Seirra 85gn BTHP, H414 powder. CCI200 primers. I thought i was back 0.25mm from the Lands but turned out i was on them. Loaded to COAL of 66.75mm then with a neck crimp taking to 67.00. think i will bump it back 0.20mm on the next batch. today there was no rain but a little gusty wind so just had to go play. Off the bonnet of the motor so no bench resting. one shot at my start load to check all was well within the chamber and that i was on the paper, all good so a 3 shots with my start load. Im saying 'my' start load as i could find no data for the bullets i was using with the H414. only TSX and GMX bullets. All groups are shot at 200meters, wind is 6-12mph left to right. i did not zero or adjust anything until i had finished the groups. 3 shots then 15 minute cool down between groups. I would not, in anyway, class myself as a good shot. a number of my friends are a lot better than me. i'm only loading for hunting and do not like wasting bullets killing paper. but i do like to check my zero every month on all the rifles. This is the result of a few hours playing. the white dots are 15mm patch dots. waiting for the rain and wind to drop so i can go play with a bit more range. Im happy so far. makes a change i hear some say.. Thanks to Camokid for the Crimp die. worked a treat. Thanks for looking All the best Phil
  6. If you don't know what it is then how do you know you have to replace it.lol Show it on a wider photo mate. Also there normally is a part number stamped so you just type into Google and it comes up. Milner off road is a good place dogs. I used them a hell of a lot with the truck
  7. Most area's have changed in that its only a hold quantity on the new fac and no purchase quantity. Just to be safe say you with to buy bulk with same batch numbers to aid consistency's. If you look at the fac guildlines I seam to remember something about 2000 rounds to hold on rimfire. Look it up and quout it to them in a cover letter.
  8. Im sorry but your getting upset over someone shooting a few acres of land where you have not shot because of greed and bag banging has blinded you and then you bang on that you have over 30000 acres to shoot over. some people need to get out more before they loose the lot.
  9. As he was found guilty can we have a photo or two.
  10. Ok Graham, no problems, i will let you know if Karl doesn't take it. Karl, PM back at you matey. ATB Phil.
  11. Yesterday i was invited to join one of the guns off a shoot to go and have a go at the pigeons on the roost. as he has a shoot on the land and in the woods are the pens so yesterday was the first chance he had to get out. I arrived at 2:30 put my barrette and 50 carts on the back of his mule and was driven over to the woods. never had it so go, normally i have to walk. I did ask if 50 cartridges would be enough, the reply was, if i get though 50 carts then im doing well. Well, what can i say. it was the best roost shooting i have ever had, the rain stopped but the wind stayed. the birds came in like rockets, playing on the wind, if you missed with the first then dont bother with the second because they would be in the next county by the time the pellets got to them. The gent went and got another 75 cartridges which didnt last long and then went and grabbed the rest out of my boot locker. I was totally spoilt, very well looked after and very appreciated for what the land owner had done for me. never been looked after so well or had birds like it. Time was called well before dark to allow the birds to get in on their roost and i was told there might be another evening coming up. how many cartridges? who knows, who cares. it was fantastic shooting. we picked up 55 birds, there was a few more we couldn't find. More than anything this is a BIG thank you to the land owner, Thank you.
  12. It would cost me more to take a deer carcass to the dealers than i would get back. £1 per 1lb. i have to cull so all the meat i butcher and drop it into land owners as a thank you, it has put more land in the book than just knocking at a door. pigeons are a pain, i take about 400 a time to the dealers. tried to use one that said they will come and collect but 3 times have been a no show so they dont need the birds. 20-35p a bird depending on the time of year
  13. Was out 2 weeks ago and squabs coming in to the crow pattern.
  14. it has the recoil pad the same as the M595 stock i have so im guessing its the original. it has the sling swivels too. All the best Phil.
  15. I have a spare wooden stock that came off a tikka m595. its in ok condition. more of a project stock as there is the odd mark on this 12 year old bit of wood £60 plus the postage or i might swap for something shooting wise. all the best Phil.
  16. using the right target and with a rifle/bullet combo i know is good then i do with 2 shots but then a five group to be 100%
  17. I forgot about this. its still here on my desk.
  18. They said they would have sent one free of charge but the handling and postage Would be to much.
  19. Gun supplies? If you mean reloading then an hour and half drive to about the only place tat sells reliading supplies.
  20. I will not use the two local shops. There is a fair number of us that will not use them and the numbers are growing.
  21. Is there a trader on here that is at the British shooting show. I have lost a cap on one of the leupold scopes. i have spoken to leupold and they said basically 'Tuff' Spoke to GMK and they have stock, £2 each. Great. but they will not let me buy one, i have to go to my local gun shop but as i will not give either of my two locals a penny of the hard earned im sort of stuck but i would rather stay stuck than go in their shops. Is there anyone with a GMK account that is going to the british shooting show that would be so kind and order a turret cap please. Im just waiting for a call from GMK with the part number as there is 2 different caps. Or Has anyone a turret cap kicking around Please. Thanks for your time All the best Phil.
