Reloading for driven Boar

140gr SST 160gr Sierra round nose. both of these a friend has used with good success then he bought the trip4 underlever, i bought the 160gr sierras from him and never used them. just sat in the cabinet. i should sell them really -
Fair hand to Gloucestershire as well. 10 working days from posting to them and it dropping on my mat for a change of calibre in rifle and moderator plus getting conditions reworded as they will not do AOLQ so i got them to condition every legal animal that i could possible shoot next to each and every calibre. No problems so Thumbs up to Gloucester for once.

I think your missing the point here. Redgum has the offer of a 7 foot tall drinks chiller that will hold a whole deer carcass, in the jacket and still on the full bone. the under counter is a wee bit small to do that. nice hijack though lol. redgum, i did know someone looking but forgotten who it was. hehe. oh well, their lose.

As 1066 says, they are no better or worse than others, for more money, on the market. I use these, one for each calibre, set, like 1066 does, a tad under the final load. i know NJC uses one as well and sets it bang on, weighs the first and then throws 10 direct into case and then weighs the next one. I made extension tubes up for the bottoms of mine as i found, when offering up the pan, it was a little kack handed so adding an inch to the flow tube made life easier. one thing with all the throwers is to hold the pan up to the spout or you dump your load and it flies everywhere.

Nope, Lee scales will get you by but once you try something like the RCBS scales with the damper in you will see what all the fuss is about. I load between 100 and 200 at a time. i set the lee powder thrower to drop a 1/2gr short and then trickle in until just before the line, then hold the beam down and stop pan swinging, let go and watch the scales. they go up, down, up to the final position. i do this on every single load so i have a constant. i use to do this with the lee scales but it was up,down,up,down,up,down,up,down,up,down,up and stop. i did, for a short time, use electronic scales but it wasn't to my liking, i sold the RCBS and bought a cheap $4 drugy scale set that i use to weight bullets, cases and just to check. they are surprisingly accurate, i think it was to .001gr but again, i don't trust electronics. plus they turn off after about 15 seconds and you have to reset them. keep and eye on ebay.com in worldwide. i let a set of the ohaus 10/10 go for $50 and bought the green ones for more. yes, stupid me as they are identical. it even says on the underside of the RCBS 'Ohaus'

Do not go with the Lee scales. OK! i was reloading sort of ok for the 222 but then again i could throw a rouge charge into a case and still shoot a cloverleaf. Digi scales work but i do not like the fact that you are relying on electronics and a battery. im sure they work fine but im not overly convinced with them. plus the beam scales are more accurate than digi i like my 10-10 RCBS, NJC's fault but i picked up a good cheap set for the states. Also look for Ohaus scales. they make the scales for RCBS and are identical apart from colour and price. once i get a good working load i make a check weight with solder. i check every time i reload. also an old laptop and web cam facing the pointer makes reloading easier for me. Lee die i use to say where as good as anything else but less money. i have just learnt this is not true as my new 243 die set give different neck tension so i need to fettle the neck die to get it closer to the FL die. easy job for me but not for everyone. more than welcome to come and play with the reloading stuff. NJC has a go saying im to anal with my reloads. he throws his loads together and shoots better groups. i have to go over the top on the reloads to as i cant shoot as well as him, he has no heart beat to affect his shooting. Bit like blunderbuss.

Make one. It is rather easy Old walking pole 5 x 8mm rare earth magnets from ebag. 8mm dowel 2 pack glue. hacksaw cut the end off the walking pole. i took is slow so i ended up with a 8mm hole. the end it tapered so taking it easy and a few cuts will get the right place cut 5x 20mm slugs of dowel. mix some glue and put all over one of the dowels, insert into pole then the same with a magnet, then another dowel. keep gluing and plugging until you have now magnets left. leave the last magnet flush with the bottom. leave upright to dry so the glue can fill all the voids if you joint all the magnets together without a gap you only get the two ends for the cartridges to stick to. if you have the dowels inbetween, you have 10 ends for the carts to stick to. total cost was about £10 but mine are 3 piece sticks. fits in the bag but also reaches in the ditches and stingers without me having to bend.

if you can wait a short while then the new Starlight Arrow might be an option. I have the photon and very happy with it for the money but for a little less and a T20ir the Arrow might be my next purchase. especially if it will work with a monocular as a spotter as well. i'll be having a closer look that the shoot show.

Ultrasonic cleaning solution
activeviii replied to ferretfiddler's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I dont use a vibratory tumbler as all, i have no need. but i do use a whiskey tumbler I use an Aldi sonic cleaner stand a whiskey glass in it and then the case neck down. top the glass with warm water and Sea Clean to cover the cases. you get no air pockets this was. then top the Sonic bath with plain warm water. 2x 4 minute cleans then lift the cases out and reuse the solution for the next batch. the case then get a warm water rinse and then stood on a board with pins to hold the cases up. this time of year i put on the radiator or in the warmer months i put in conservatory to cook out ant water thats left in the cases. SeaClean works well for me. do i get a free 5ltr sample now please. -

Only thing with using citric acid or vinegar is you pull the copper out of the case. you will see the case has an orange hue to it. i use to use this but found the cases hardened and cracked quicker than normal. I now use 'sea clean' wait till maplins have a sale on it and buy 2 for 1. -
http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2013/02/find-optimal-barrel-twist-rate-with-berger-stability-calculator/ some good information on this site. sometimes, OK!, most the time, its way over my head but i like looking at the pictures.

i have sat on the end of a hedgeline, in a fishing chair. with green trousers and a camo coat. two dogs at my side and 6 flocked half shells in the field. one of the best 2 hours decoying i have had. well nearly. just mount the gun slowly, no fast movements. i just waited until the birds had commented. no net and poles to get in the way. i enjoyed it.

I do not care. I will treat and speak to everyone on the shoots in the same way. If you do not like it, find another shoot. With out the beaters there is no shoot. blood, sweat and tears are given by the beaters and many many a cut, rip and thorn in their dogs. If a gun is out of order i will let them know this. but at the same time i will also let a beater know in the same manner. ok you can not keep everyone happy but without one there is no other. so some respect from both is needed. I am always respectful of the beaters in the same way i am to the guns.
