  1. Wookie not wrong there mate, one day she will walk to heel and sit when told, and you just think you are making progress, the next its like she's never heard of the word sit and is dragging me all over the place. Still patience is the key I think.
  2. Nice dog LB, reminds me of 1/4 collie x 3/4 greyhound I had some years ago, boy could that dog sort out foxes.
  3. Nice one FM, very well put sir!!
  4. TJD what have you been doing with all the game you have been shooting then??
  5. Yeh I know breeder didnt dock her, wish he had I prefer spaniels with docked tails!
  6. My 5 month springer pup she's a little cow, chewing everything and being as naughty as she can whenever she can. Note the white ring of little men, one hour after this pic was taken she had chewed all their heads off. :yp: But how can I stay mad at that cute little face!!!
  7. FM your story is an all too familiar one i'm afraid. I have been called out by the RSPCB as an expert witness to many such incidents, one of the worst being a female Redtail Hawk, (a very large bird) being kept under an upturned shopping trolley!! One thing I have noticed about these people is they are never sorry, or in any way willing to accept responsibility for the distress they cause the animals, or birds that are unlucky enough to find themselves in these peoples care. Some people are just not cut out for keeping animals, but for some reason are not prepared to accept the fact, and birds of prey are just so much more succeptible to bad management and handling. Personally I think some kind of licensing is called for and in order to qualify for a licence the individual must do a management course with a recognised instructor, I say recognised because many of the so called professional falconers out there are little better than the beginners they are trying to train. Keep an eye on this man though, in my experience once the RSPCB has confiscated this bird he will try to get another bird at some point, and believe me, the second will fare much the same as the first. You cant take these things to heart though mate, the world is full of wrongs that we just cant right, all we can do is our best. Regards Peregrine
  8. Out of the last 60 birds I have shot only 8 were young.
  9. Hi RTR yes I can do you some cards. Do you have any ideas of what you want? Quantities, etc. Or do you want me to put something together for you? Have a think and then PM me when you decide

  12. I must agree with 1 of 5, having spent half my life shooting with .22 for game when I started FT shooting I swapped to .177. The accuracy is much better with the flatter trajectory, however regardless of caliber the gun is only as accurate as the shooter and you should never take shots at ranges you are not confident of making a clean kill.
  13. PM did it actually bind to a decoy or just pass one? The reason I ask is I have only ever seen a Kestrel attempt a woodpigeon once before. and that was in a very hard winter where it was life or death, and even then it was more a battle than a hunt. Maybe it was looking at a small mammel near your deec's. I see from your pic the kestrel is a female, this means she will weigh around 8oz and a woodpigeon would be way beyond her, especially at this time of year when there is lots of more suitable quarry around and she no longer has chicks to feed. I might be wrong but its Just a thought. Great pic though!! :yp:
  14. Hi guys a question for you, I am considering getting a couple of old chest freezers and storing my shot pigeons, until I have 500 or so and selling them to a game dealer. My question is how much is the going rate for pigeons when sold this way? Also are they in demand by gamedealers or am I wasting my time? I know some of you blokes shoot a lot of birds and must have the same idea, so any help would be great.
  15. Well done PM sounds like you had a good day! I am going out again this weekend, I hope, got my eye on some stubble that was cut 2 days ago and the birds are just starting to find it. Will post a picture of the bag if I have any luck!!
  16. As I stressed in my first post I have no intention of docking the dog unless it becomes a problem to her. My aim at posting in the first place is to get peoples views on docking in general, and to discover why docking has suddenly become a tabboo practice amongst a lot of breeders.
  17. Jordan I think I could have got a left and right, trouble is they wouldnt fit in the freezer!!
  18. Youl sure alarm a lot of locals if your not dressed in anything!!
  19. Acording to my vet it is not illegal but unethical unless you can prove discomfort to the dog ie. cut tail from brush etc. My vet refused unless I could provide this proof, but another vet said he would do it anyway for £170!! I think I wodo it now unless it was proving a disadvantage to the dog, but I do wish the breeder had done it a 3 days.
  20. What is everyones opinion on docking working breeds? The Springer pup I have just bought does not have her tail docked and this is the first one I have had with a tail, do you think this will effect her in the field? Cosmetically I prefer docked springers but will not put her through an operation just for looks, the vet says he will dock her for £170 but I dont think its fair to do that too her when there is no medical reason to do so. What do you think?
  21. Here's a very bad one Question: What do you call a woman standing between 2 goal posts? Answere: Annette
  22. Whats he on about? What chat room? I've not seen any chat room, where is it? Oh my god i'm more technicaly incompitent than I thought I cant even find the chat room!!
  23. The result of an afternoon walk around my shoot.
  24. Thought I would show you what turned up in my decoy pattern Sunday. these ramblers were 3 fields from the footpath and came right up to me without seing me and started to speculate why anyone would leave plastic birds out in the field. When I stood up in my hide they nearly had a heart attack!!!
  25. Thanks mate I will do just that! Peregrine
