  1. Cat, to an extent I agree with you. But I quite like my gun, and to take it out of the cabinet and find it's dirty would be an insult. I am sure after a while I will fall in to bad habits... but for now I hold the conviction that if you look after a tool, the tool looks after you :hmm:
  2. Haven't started decoying properly yet, but would some camo net and some poles suffice? Can't believe that they can charge £70 for some sticks and a bit of netting
  3. Tried F A Andersons or Sorrell Brothers in East Grinstead? S. Bro's is where my dad got his. £99, double lock, for three guns.
  4. There was this exact thread a few weeks ago. I usually store barrels up, though if I'm not going to use the gun for a while i run an oiled wool mop down, which makes storing barrels down a necessity, as the oil otherwise runs down the barrels into the action, which makes it sticky.
  5. Here's a handy link. Mark Gilchrist is an awesome chap. Had some of his Gmae Pie at a local Game Fair. Yum! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IpwhOE74TMA Also, what do you chaps think of pop-gutting rabbits? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=goGtZ3euMt4&...feature=related (anyone else think rabbit legs look really funny when they've been chopped off? )
  6. We payed £5.60 for RC Sipe down south and that's not a bad price for em!
  7. 7670 Bought the SMG but couldn't afford enough ammo. Had two defence and loads of ammo for the pump but there was just too much pooo!
  8. dam i never seem to have enough money. Bought the SG which works well, but those damn crows and swallows always finish me off. Defence is too expensive
  9. 1040. But i thought i had a defence? Those damn crows take a lot o whackin!
  10. Dunno, but he can't be that new. I am member number 13,250 and I joined waaay back on 7th of September 08. Feels like I've been on here for ages Awesome site. Much better than the Hunting Life Forums which I joined today. Keep it up!
  11. Only used Fiocchi's on clays, and they didn't seem to have the right feel about them compared to Lyalvale Express HV or Gamebore White Gold XLR/Blue Diamond. Weren't punchy enough for me. Used RC SIPE 32g No.6 and they're awesome. They don't arf knock em down.
  12. I hold it's head up to my a*se and give it a silent-but-deadly... But, depending on what i've been eating, they often need their heads pulling.
  13. Yeh my dad like Landies. He's got an E reg which he's looked after, and recently refurbished the front axle, and had a couple of new engines and a new gearbox, but otherwise perfect. Got a bit of bubbling around the bodywork, but is to be expected. So the main thing is to check underneath, not so much on top
  14. so no one knows of any shooting/dog related hearing problems? My dog hates bangs, but i'm sure most of yours are gun-dogs.
  15. Don't know if you'd sold it, but I have one of these (slightly diff pattern on sideplate) and it is a very robust hard working gun. Buy it!
  16. Wow, these are expensive. you guys reckon they're worth the money?
  17. Just a thought... Where do our four legged companions fit into this? Afterall, their hearing is rather more sensitive than ours. Perhaps we should all buy some novelty-sized ear plugs?
  18. Tosspot where about's are you on the sarf coast? You go to southdown right? I'm in Findon. PM if you like Ad for the posts sake, there is usually loads of Rape (the crop kind) around west Sussex, hope to get out there during Christmas hols
  19. You definitely showed that pigeon Still, i don't like it when I wing 'em. So satisfying when they drop. Pretty new to pigeon shooting too, hope to get out there at the end of the semester in the Christmas hols I'll post some piccies
  20. Notice the bit in bold, that is my point exactly. He wouldn't have shot them if he hadn't known they were flying like pigeons
  21. But, when in flight, a pigeon of any description is charactersitic, whether they be young, feral or 'normal'. I think tullyhubbert's question was entirely valid, as it is obvious he knew they were pigeons, but on second look couldn't decide whether they were feral or young. This is not something which could be seen when in flight, but was still clear they were pigeons. Ok?
  22. Seen a couple of threads on despatching wounded birds. This chap has a novel approach...
