  1. Go easy with hard abrasive bore brushes such as the Turk's Head brush - these are only for occasional use for heavy and stubborn soiling and should not be used on a routine basis. Save money and make your own patches.
  2. I've tried loads of products over the years and alway go back to Parker Hale 009 with shotgun patches (I cut up an old cotton shirt to make the last batch) Best cleaner around.
  3. Ask if you can see an example on another gun he has done.
  4. An interesting book for you is "Spanish Best" by Terry Wieland, ISBN 0-89272-536-X It's out of print but you should be able to borrow this book through your local library service, or maybe you can find a copy on the internet. (Amazon has a copy for £31, which is probably more than you will want to pay (Christmas is coming). Copies on Ebay too.) It tells you all about the Spanish gun industry, and will have information on your gun maker. It's quite an interesting read anyway as it tells you a lot about the Spanish sporting culture, history of the Spanish gunmaking industry, sporting traditions, traditional foods, suggestions and write-ups of places to visit, game cooking etc etc and has plenty of beuatiful photos. Many of the Spanish gunmakers struggled during the Franco period in the 1970s and in 1984, many including Armas Erbi (which didn't actually go bust as the previous poster suggests), but were merged into a single company, DIARM, so your gun is obviously pre 1984! Armas Erbi produced side by sides. The last catalogue showed a Boxlock - the Erbi 76 ST, two sidelocks, and Basque type GH, best - Purdey triple bolting system, sideclips, hand detatchable sidelocks, automatic ejectors, Holland style opening system. Your gun is obviously one of the boxlocks. Value depends on which model and the condition. Does your gun state what model it is? The Erbi guns were intended mainly for the home market in Spain so are not often found abroad.

  16. Fox has never really been eaten in European cultures, as is the case with all predators and scavengers. This is because it is considered an unclean beast under the Laws of Moses in the Book of Leviticus.
  17. Yes, raw pigeon can harbour harmful bacteria in the same way as all meat and poultry. The Food Standards Agency recommends that the core temperature of the food must reach 75 degrees Celsius to ensure any harmful bacteria are destroyed. Lower cooking temperatures are acceptable: 2 minutes at 70 degrees 10 minutes at 65 degree 45 minutes at 60 degrees. At these temperatures, the food will still look "raw" to an extent as it does not undergo any significant physical change until boiling point is reached.
