  1. This has been my experience too. Nothing but praise for department especially Les.
  2. A friend of mine traveled from the midlands down to the new forest on a deer stalking trip only to discover on arrival he had taken the wrong bolt with him! Fortunately he managed to borrow the keepers gun to continue with the cull but said it was only just shootable and held together with bits of string and gaffer tape.
  3. schmidt and bender 8x56 on my hmr Have been through many scopes on this rifle, very happy with what i have finaly settled on. For a hunting rifle it plain simple and crystal clear atb Ian
  4. After trying several high mag variable scopes on my hmr {expensive learning curve) I have now settled on a S&B 8x56 and dont find myself wanting at any sensible hmr range. I would take quality optics over high mag every time. Weather you go for a fixed or variable my advise would be to buy the best you can afford, quality optics are a real eye opener if you excuse the pun atb Ian
  5. Steiner ranger pro 8x42. Had them around a year now. Very happy with them under all light conditions. Out lasted my S&B 8x56 scope at last light in the woods, comparable to a mates bins that were at least £1000 more than mine. (he was gutted!) atb Ian
  6. 100 in hide 250 slab in motor Only had to go back to the motor a few times, but would b gutted if that big day finaly arrived and i only had just the 100 with me atb Ian
  7. With the higher power the rapids can get very pellet fussy. Try as many pellet types as you can untill you strike gold, pellet on pellet at 40yards is acheivable. Bisley manums usualy groupe well at most power settings but you may wish to find something a bit lighter to flattern trajectory out a bit. I can get one hole groupes with bisley magnums and also logun penatrators(16grain) with the latter being much flatter. i tryed countless pellets when setting my outfit up, many wouldn't groupe under 5 inch at 40yards my rifle is running at around 36ft/lb atb Ian
  8. Black gold 35g #5 now in fiber as well as plastic quite expensive but as stated that was not a problem for you atb Ian
  9. that sound about right to me mate atb Ian
  10. +1 for that, you can take all the decoys and guns you want but if you gota go you gota go
  11. discovery 3.9v8 11-13mpg dependant on driveing style fortunatly running on lpg. (51p/l) atb Ian
  12. Another vote for the A7 atb Ian
  13. I have had a few scopes sat on my HMR. The largest was x24 mag, I now have a fixed x8 and just cant see myself shooting with any thing else. For drilling holes in paper at long range high mag is fine, but for me out in the field (where the targets tend to hop away while your adjusting, dialing and setting your scope up for the shot) you just cant beat the ease of use of a fixed mag scope, its what works for me but were not all the same are we. Just go for the best optics your budget will allow. atb Ian
  14. its no problem to buy a single box of 25, but the lower the quantity the higher the price per shell in most shops.
