Had a day out on saturday with a guide i've been out with a few times before (action pigeons) jon set us up over some wheat and with the weather conditions being good, the birds never stopped coming all day and even with some poor shooting from me and my mate we still managed 74 birds not bad for a £60 day out :good All the best Rob Speakman

  7. 2nd DAY OUT WITH ACTION PIGEONS I enjoyed my last outing with action pigeons so much that I booked a 2nd day with John Dandy the guy that runs the guided days. It’s a bit of a drive to John’s from Leigh as John lives near Derby, but I really think it’s worth the effort. I arrived at John’s at 7.30am he had his 4x4 packed up with all his gear and was ready to set off. This time John was taking me a very short 10 minute drive from his home. We were to shoot over wheat. On arriving at the field we unloaded the gear not to far from a Badger set as this is where the pigeons were feeding. Not far from the Badger set there was an area that the Badgers had flattened and the pigeons were dropping in to this as well as the wheeling’s. We set up the hide under a willow tree at the end of the hedgerow, John places six shell decoys in the area the badger had been playing in along with 3 dead pigeon in cradles and a flapper. Then he put 3 bouncers some distance facing the decoys. It didn’t take long before the pigeons started to come in. I shot a few, but every now and then when we thought a pigeon was coming in it would pull away. John went out and changed his pattern, putting the flapper more to the edge of the area. This seemed to do the trick and it was not long before I was in double figures. It was a bit of an on and off day as we had a good few showers, but as soon as they blew over, the pigeons started again. At the end of the day I had 50+ pigeons in the bag for about 90+ shots, not bad for a £60.00 guided day. If you want John’s number drop me a line Happy shooting, Rob Speakman

  9. Fully guided days out in darbyshire all gear and dog supplied price £60 for the day 9-3 roughly, for contact details message me Thanks Rob Speakman
  10. Well after a tip off from a freind I booked my first day out this year with action pigeons run by John dandy and based in darbyshire the day cost me £60 for the day guided with the first box of shells free which I think is very good. Anyway back to the day I met jon about nine and a after a introduction we set of on the short drive to the feild for the day which was wheat which the pigeons had just started to flaten in spots. Upon araving at the feild there were hundreds of pigeons about, which is always re-asurring after setting up using johns gear which was included in the price the day started well with me acounting for about ten pigeons for about 25 shots but John wasn't happy with the amount of birds coming in so we had a quick move which proved to be a wise move between 12 and 3 I shot another 35 for about eighty shots then we packed up and picked up the birds using John's dog included in the price again . I had a fantastic day and enjoyed it so much I have re booked for next friday anyone intrested in a day can contact john on *********** I have a pic from the day but dont know how to post any Idea's?
