  1. haha, when i come to think of it, the wifes grandad gave me some paper green shells a couple of years ago, i think they where baikal too, they knocked me around too ...
  2. The BAIKAL shells are red and only stamped ( made in ussr ) 71 on the head. The pigeon specials look like a good quality cartridge and im interested to see how they perform! also in the mix are = peter coppins / imperial game 28gr no6 lylevale express/ game 32gr no4s and no6s winchester/ GB 30gr no5s browning / premiers 28gr and some tatty looking eley grand prix. all of which i gave him 35quid a slab so not bad i think.
  3. hi, following on from my alpha max thread, i received 6 slabs of mixed carts from my land owner, some are probably older than me but some look very recent, interesting as ive never heard of them or seen them before. amoungst the slabs are. baikal ( game load )paper cased in boxes of 10s. no6s with no weights. winchester club ranger ( rottweil special ) all plastic case with plastic cups! no brass, game load. a slab of lyalvale express ( pigeon specials) these ones have a brass cup that is half the length of the entire shell! 2 slabs of cwg 30g no4s any info on these guys? cheers. ps, what do you think i should use the 2 slabs of no4s on? not many crows on my land either.
  4. hi, my land owner is having a clear out and has offered me around 10 slabs of carts for 35 quid a slab, great price whatever they are, but i know that 4 of them are eley alphamax 32g 12g no6,. my question is that all the searching i have done is that alphamax carts are bismouth, alloy type shot not lead! do they make alphas in lead too? i will buy them regardless but will receive them friday. cheers 12.
  5. sorry, should of said. i would like between 18 and low 20s ftlbs as low teens imoa are no better than a sub 12. cheers.
  6. hi, ive been out of the airgun world now for a few years since getting my rimmys and shotguns, my question is. im after a fac rated .22 springer for around barns ect as i dont want to use my rimfire, i only want to spend around 200 ish, i have had fac rapids,707s , s410s before but dont want to spend big bucks or mess around with charging gear as i might only put 100 or so pellets a year through it. as i remember it hw80s,patriot or elimintors where the ones or is there something different now days. cheers.

    Free Shotguns

i cant believe that not one member as not asked why ricko is giving these guns away! instead of just thinking of what free stuff can be had for themselfs? by the looks of things we have lost another member from our sport. you lot should of asked if theres anything to help to keep ricko shooting instead of pulling his hands off for his guns. discrace!!
  8. thanks again. lots of ideas and comments. this mornings thoughts where i was going to sack the idea but like most of you have said, i am going to put down a few birds for me , dad and a couple others i allow to shoot on my land. think it will spice up our winter shooting. i know the shoot next to me will boost the numbers by about 100 so might have some good walked up days. thanks all. 12.
  9. Thanks everyone for your wisdom and helpful replys, i already new there where lots of hard work involved and money as i know 1 full time gamekeeper and a friend who helps run another one. i didnt realize or take in account the losses when releasing the birds nor did i do the maths per gun per birds after your replys and a little homework of my own i think i will leave the idea in the shed. to start with it seemed all too easy to set up as everything is already here. as i said in my op im passinonate about pigeon shooting not game, think i will use the pens for breeding chickens and turkeys for xmas . i am quite lucky really as theres one of the largest shoots in s.yorks which borders my land so i get alot of birds taking refuge on my land which i may take a few on walked up. thanks again everyone. 12.
  10. cheers for all your replys, if i go ahead with this i already have, me and 2 others willing to share the costs 3 ways and one more friend who already helps run a nearby shoot. i will carry on doing my home work and see what happens. thanks again.
  11. not too far from a place called scrooby, near bawtry.
  12. hi, i have recently moved in to a cottage on the land i pest control on, there is 600 acres of prime land in a valley type layout so to speak. There has been a shooting syndicate on the land for the last couple of decades but last season the land owner had a fall out with the gamekeeper and finished all shoots from then, he said he will not allow anyone else to take the shooting but i can have it free off charge if i wish all the pens and feeders are all still where they where left, auto fill water tubs, feeders, electric fence, pens you name it. the pens are only 50yards in front of my cottage so very easy to watch and feed up when needed, all corn and wheat i get for free too. i know the last shoot ran 11 shoot days with 2 vermin days and 1 beaters day, there where 10 guns per day. i am seriously thinking about running this next season and know there will be plenty of shooters around wanting a place in the syndicate, i am new to shooting game as i am mainly a pigeon shooter and pest, i have no idea what and how to charge the guns if i set this up, i would like to make some money from this if i where to invest my time in this and it would be a waste if i dont run this. any info and advice will be greatly accepted cheers 12
  13. well i have tried and tested every type of round through my cz, winnies, cci various types, remmy subs and all hv types too, all together about 1000 rounds over the last month or so, by far winnies giving the best all round groups and good kill rate. i was very happy with the winnies so i thought, i aquired some eley subs last week so off i went to try out on paper this morning , to my surprise these gave the best groups ive ever shot  20 rounds inside a target the size of a 10 pence piece at 65 yards, not one stray, missfire, nothing. im well happy with the rounds and cant wait to get out with the nv on real targets, only thing now is that i have 500 winnies in stock  anyone local wanting to swap winnies for eleys 12.
  14. welcome pal, glad your liking the forum. get on with your application pal, the sooner the better. only takes around 8 weeks for a full turnaround with good old s.yorks dept..
  15. i managed to get 2 pairs of these! if ever the first pair wears out best boots ive ever had.
  16. as already said, rvp as had one good season without injury, hes a great striker but only a one off season i think. i reckon united will dominate till january until wenger realizises its his last chance before sack and spends some more bucks in the sales to chase united to the last few points, man city and liverpool battle for 3rd place. i hope anyway..
  17. some good days can be had on the crows now though, they seem very oddly stupid at the minute near me. good chance of some hide shooting with the rimmie too.
  18. hi, i have a stream running through my new home garden and i have seen mink working the ways, i have seen the little critter at all times of day but never been ready for them, whats the best time of day to nail the sod,? also, do i need to use steel shot upon the stream way in the middle of s/yorks? cheers.
  19. sorry for your loss mate, i have lost all 3 of my best friends in the last few years and know what your feeling. i havent replaced any of my dogs as my kids where heart broken when they left us. i will not be having anymore dogs now until my kids have aged a little so not to put them through the same upset again. as said, time is the best healer.
  20. A mate of mine off this forum has read somewhere that remington are recalling some certain batchs of .22 subs as the bullet heads are too loose and that most of the rounds are supersonic not sub? has anyone else seen anything about this as i have a couple of hundred in the safe and i have checked the heads and they do seem very loose and some play in movement although i cant pull out the heads with my hands. cheers.
  21. cant believe the loaders havent posted yet! as i think this is a good thought ? come on loader boffins i would like to know your thoughts myself. i could see 4s + 5s mixed been a good hare load. 5s and 6s for corvids and 6s and 7 1/2s for pigeons. maybe this could catch on?
  22. i will have to have a look in there this week, i live in tickhill and never been in there shop!!
