  1. Hopefully will get out to give them a go sometime in the next week or so. As said, not the cheapest, but if they are decent, may be worth it? They work out £226 per 1000 or £58 per 250 at my local shop. Dont know if they can be had for less online? Got a box of HB Pigeon fibre to compare to the plastic wad jobs I've used recently. £188/1000....£47.28/250
  2. cheers....like the sound of that type of set-up.
  3. to be honest.....I dont want to end up with loads of kit. I want to keep it fairly simple. I'm not interested in mega hundred bag sessions. Just enjoy a day in the field, a few birds for the pot and hopefully a bit less crop damage for Mr Farmer. Hopefully this attitude isnt 'wrong'.
  4. Just picked up a box of RC Sipe Prestige 32g 5s (fibre) to try out. Anyone rate these? They werent cheap, but look quite tasty. Have been using Eley HB pigeon and had some Fiocchis 32/6 which I thought were pretty good.
  5. cheers.... up till now have been a fairly casual shooter and have made do with a hide but no deeks. just taking shots at the 'general traffic'. not a big bag affair, granted, but i quite like it. however, with my new permission gained, thought i better get a bit more 'pro'. without starting a huge bun fight, and i'm sure there is probably a million threads on the subject......general consensus on deek type to go for?
  6. Question for the sage PW mwmbers......What number of deeks do like to put out? Whats the accepted minimum? Ta
  7. I work with his daughter!!.....and he is very good friends with my old man. I think that is about a close as I want to keep it. If i was in Norfolk.....thats another story.
  8. Some good news for a dreary sunday....local farmer has said he will allocate me a parcel of land for pigeon shooting. Seems he lets other guys shoot, and prefers to allocate permissions in parcels so as to keep things simple. Sounds good to me. So.....what now? Going to pop and meet Farmer and I think he'll show me round 'my parcel'. After that I suppose I'll just go and recce the patch and see whats what? Unless Mr Farmer points me straight to a hotspot. Any other tips? Happy days!
  9. Up until recently i had a Laurona black sable deluxe. was my grandfathers....very nice gun, very pretty and shot well. however i was shooting a lot of clays so wanted a new o/u. PX'd it for my current gun. Really wish I'd kept it now, but I needed the cash for the new one. Was thinking of buying it back but believe the dealer has sold it.
  10. my previous nutter was called Purdey nice hound.
  11. i'll the old man if he's been out there recently.
  12. I have these too, excellent sound and build quality. Great value at 50 notes.
  13. I've got the realtree para smock.....top bargain from a game fair. Well made and comfy. Nice loose fit, which I like. Room for fleece etc underneath.
  14. Surprised by this, living in Rendlesham, I see/hear very little pigeon shooting going on, and I can see plenty of 'pigeon action'. Perhaps some of the guns of which you speak have packed it in?? I also seem to think Philip Westrup probably pulls the strings being the contract farmer for most of the estates locally. Sir Michael sent me an email yesterday saying he would like to meet me, and that he wanted me to meet his keeper (who I already know).....as a result of my efforts in a work related matter recently. So things could be looking up. I've also got an 'in' for a load of land out Debach way, which I'm just waiting to hear about.
  15. Hi I live in Rendlesham. Have spoken to the two main landowners in the area (Sheepshanks and Bunbury) and they really dont seem too bothered about pigeons! Sir Michaels keeper said he would sort me out some woody shooting in the winter, but havent heard anything yet. I'm not interested in vermin or rabbit shooting though, so you might have more luck there?
  16. I have used a G36, which I suspect (from the looks/design) is what the R8 is developed from. The G36 is an awesome assault rifle. The one I used was fitted with Leupold sights. At Bisley, on the 400m range, colleagues and I got reasonable scores doing the snipers quali with the G36 (not the standard sniper rifle normally used)! Two colleagues actually got scores good enough to pass. I also scored well using it left handed (i'm right handed). Used this type but with Leupold sight.
  17. These 7DayShop ones are Konus Titaniums.......which retail between £55-70 depending where you look.
  18. Cats dont count as property, unlike dogs or cattle.
  19. got a Specialized FSR XC......was a bargain through the cycle to work scheme. Not been out enough this summer though!
  20. i got a 2.8tdl (94'M) this summer, to use as a winter slag, dog mobile, bike mobile etc (other car is a Lotus Elise). 125k miles, just two small areas of rust, rear off side wheel arch (inside on top) and off side sill. Inside immaculate. Runs well. Had a mate do a cambelt change and I did an oil change. Paid £900.
  21. chap I work with is selling his guns and cab. Anyone need a 3 gun cab? He has put it on ebay with a £60 reserve. Not sure what he wants, I expect not much more than the reserve. Manningtree, Essex
