  1. You are right Al it was the chib shop ,they did themselves no favours!! by there over the top displays ,I was only using Victor Morris as an Example, they did sell some decent airguns among all the tat , I told my Dad to go to Crockets instead , They do have a more discreet Gun Department , or at least did the last time I was there, with the VCR act many people who would have bought a gun online are now Banjaxed!! At least in England you have more choice and you are never that far from a shop that sells Airguns , I have at least 6 within a short drive from me . ps Victor Morris used to be a camera and HI FI shop , his son started selling the guns and weapons, my Dad new Victor back in the 1960s
  2. It is getting really bad in Scotland ,there is hardly any shops in Glasgow now selling airguns, my Father went into Victor Morris in Argyle St ,(not a good shop ),the other day to buy an Air pistol for some Garden plinking ,and they have stopped selling them ,except for airsoft. Thank goodness I live in England, WEE ECK Salmond and Co, are Banning everything ,They think is Dangerous ,what a Farce, and this Bunch of nobody's want Independance .Heaven help us Scotland will be empty if that lot get there way . People should be educated in the use of Airguns Banning them serves no purpose at all.
  3. Allways get permission ,when I was young I nearly got in to trouble ,for being Ignorant of the Law ,in the UK guns are viewed with suspicion, by Joe public , we do not need any more bad publicity! our Sport has enough problems to face, FARM BOY
  4. Has anyone bought or used the Smk s2 ,I want to get one for my Dad as a Garden plinker ,I know they are cheap , but it is just for some tin can shooting ,thanks FARMBOY
  5. How long is a piece of string? it really depends in which part of the UK you live in , I have heard of some real horror storys ,with the Police messing people about, I live in the Thames Valley area , I think it took about a month , it was nearly five years ago , I can't quite remember but it was not too bad , my worry is that if you complain they might delay it longer or worse still you might not get it at all. Best of luck .Farm boy
  6. I have 2 baikal's a .410 single moderated and a 12 bore o/u ,great value for money ,with my o/u I have outshot at clays people with guns costing 3 times as much, I do not know much about the auto , mind you I have used a lot of Auto's , I even owned a winchester and they do jam on occasion, GHR
  7. My pointer is gun shy ,I take her out with the 6mm starting pistol , this is not too bad as long as she is busy she is okay , when I go shooting with her I use a moderated .410 she is not keen on that even though it is not loud , I will persevere, she will hopefully learn that seeing the gun means a good run ,OFF TOPIC 2 of my uncles live in Cumbernauld , Philip and Jimmy Sherlock do you know them, Jimmy has been there for along time and is well known, CHEERS!!
  8. I have only seen a few fully grown pheasants in the field not the woods there are no sign of feeders or poults ,like i said there is many public footpaths through it , your answer is the most sensible yet thanks very much , i will be up in Scotland soon for a holiday
  9. Well stubby , I have a .410 hushpower and use normal 2 and 3 inch carts , your gun should take normal carts ,the eley subsonic are hard to get ,Hushpower in Kent is the only place I know that does them, IF IN DOUBT, give them a call, is your gun 12 bore.or .410
  10. Okay then what is the right post then, I thought it was in the correct post ?? Iam new to this forum ,as you can see so help and advice would be appreciated!! and how do you move or delete a post.
  11. The problem is I have been told that dogs are allowed in the wood it is very poorly fenced off and there is only one sign that says ,sporting rights reserved there are no keep out ,or private signs, I have been told no shooting in the woods ,which is fair enough , I do keep the dog on the lead most of the time ,but I like to give her a good run , thanks for the reply F B
  12. I have been given permission to shoot in a field that borders a wood ,there is public access to the wood, but it is private there are pheasants in it, when I let my dog of she goes into the wood and sometime she moves the pheasants about , if the birds stray into the field I will not shoot them I DO NOT shoot pheasants , Iam a bit worried someone might think Iam using my dog to flush pheasants. what is the legal angle on this . 13. I find 8's fine good all round clay cartridge, I have used 9's on sporting clay shoots if that is all I could get.
  14. Unless you have too be ultra silent , normal 3 inch will do ,or close range work 2 inch , the sub sonic's are hard to get I have the nine inch moderated model and in open space's it is fairly quiet with the 3 inch , but makes a bit of a bang near buildings .best of luck FARM BOY
  15. No ,if a barrel is shortened it does not need reproofed I have had 2 guns shortened by gunsmiths DONALDSON's and the gunsmith at BEESLEY'S Little Chalfont, I asked them about the reproofing issue and they said , if porting or other work is done it may need reproofed , best to check with local gunsmith,s.

  20. Thanks for the info on the Denham Shoot, I will try and get along there one Sunday, when I can afford it ,
  21. You should not sell it , Try to get her Interested in shooting , my wife was very anti -gun ,but now she understands me ,and even on our honeymoon , got to fire a 9mm pistol (cz75) at Thornlands in Devon Shooting ground, 1992 pre hand gun ban, she also likes going to Game fairs , best of luck FARM BOY.
  22. Yes I agree safety is a bit dodgy, I have not been there for a long time, can you give me some info about the Denham Shoot I live not far from there . FARM BOY
  23. I live in Thames Valley they are not too bad , my local firearms officer is very helpful ,and will always try and speed things up, I also have a Black powder (acquire only) which has to be done every year witch is a bit of a pain. It is a bit of lottery were you live, it should only take a couple of weeks at the most ,if you complain, I feel they might take longer after all Gun ownership in the UK is a contentious issue. It should not be, but it is.
  24. In my opinion you cannot beat a ,Baikal if you are on limited funds ,they are strong and reliable ,and I have many a time out shot guys with guns costing twice to three times as much , I have a O/U FIXED choke ejector 12 BORE and a .410 MODERATED SINGLE if you can get a new one , York guns are the main agent. in the UK FARM BOY
