Hi all Had a quick browse and its great to see that most of the chaps around when I was at my most active are still keeping the faith.I won,t mention names in case I miss someone but some good reading !! The site certainly has grown! Kept my shotguns but alas the rifles were sold to finance the purchase of a carbon fibre racing kayak for my eldest girl and then my youngest decided she,d give it a go and then myself and hey presto my garage is full of racing kayaks LOL....No regrets really. Anyway having recently joined a Car forum its was my oldest girl that mentioned by times spent on pidgeon watch and i thought hey why not get back in touch and wish you all a happy new year . All the best Ivan

Cheers Stu ..............Why the name change In answering your question ..............NO Good job I was,nt doing it to make money as I really would be looking for a gas oven to stick my head in ........It's now worth only a little bit more in value than when I first started............Certainly no where near whats been invested

Unless tikka have reinforced the internal area on their synthetic stocks around the QD stud at the forend they can have a habit of ripping out Had to repair a couple Be careful

moving from air rifle to FAC..
deadeye ive replied to leeds chimp's topic in General Shooting Matters
The only drawback to the .22LR is richochet when your trying to stretch the legs of this calibre but even so its the ideal round for Rabbit .Even with good back stops its not a forfilling experience listening to the round hitting something hard in the distance so if ranges are sensible (within the capabilities of you and the rifle)this experience will be few and far between but it will happen . For what you get the HMR is very loud but the best option if the majority of shots are taken at around 100yds . Running cost should,nt come into it if its an hobbie -
That scope will be more than adequate The rifle is capable ,the person is capable but consistancy of rimfire factory ammo will dictate those achievements at those ranges . Try shooting 10 shot groups at only 150yds and see what I mean

I cant hit anything at night - please help
deadeye ive replied to Remington 1100's topic in Guns & Equipment
Agree with all thats said about judging distance at night .A lamp draws the sight picture in closer making a 80yd rabbit look like its only 50yds away and I think there lies your problem -
The bore guide is for centre fire ......it won't suit a rimfire The kit looks OK buts its cheap Have a look at this ,More expensive but worth the money http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/17hmr_rifles.html
-
If I put my hmr rod down my .22 barrel it would flex all over the place doing more harm than good . . With internet shopping nowadays Rimfire magic in Yorkshire are good for kits Best of luck
-
I purchased 100 in .223 cal .The match brass is thinner and more consistant .For target shooting or long range hunting this brass is worth paying for but for a basic hunting round I would say not .
-
Just out of interest Ozzy which end are you inserting that bronze brush ?. Are you saying the rod in yor .22 cleaning kit will go down a .17 barrel To echo earlier advice ...........get the proper gear including a bore guide (very important )which are optional and come seperate .

If you don't mind spending the cash then Nosler v-max .Try around 55grn .You might be lucky enough with the 50 grn HP American Eagle which for saying are a cheap plinking round seem to be consistant in most 223's and certainly give the noslers a run for their money in my set up. If you want serious accuracy from that rifle you might have to go heavier due to the fast twist rate . Every body has their own interpretation on accuracy
