I have a few pictures that i took, after keeping the 35ml under my waxproof for a while. i had lost some of them only have a few left of the harris coming to the glove from a frost covered tree about 75yds away using a motor drive on my camera. didnt get any rabbits that day but a memory of the bird will be forever in my mind. The owner of the bird was a chap called John Bennet. sure he wont mind having a mention

Kip read your post and tears in MY eyes what a terrible thing to happen. i really feel for you. as you say it was some years ago, but to loose as much as that . well sorry it happened. some years ago i used to go hawking with a mate who also had a Harris.. out of this world .on this one day it was that cold the batteries in the camera would not work well. but what a brill day. nice pictures of what was a few good days shooting though. I think that i am going to be a bit different on this one every person i have spoken to seems to rate the CZs. Ok i did ask on this forum which is the one to have, and the overwhelming mojority go for CZs. "BUT" i am going to be different. having looked at and felt nearly all that have been produced. i have fallen in love with one lovely looking peace of kit. There are foxes on my permision but as the only farming round there is dairy i dont see the fox as a problem. It is not a pest in my eyes in "that" location. so until any change in circumstances for charlie then i will only admire him. Rabbits and crows are different story. :thumbs:

It was bril wish there were more programes like that on. as ive said it does really hit home the importance of pest CONTROL in the countryside. The chap using the rifle must have been bloody good it showed what seemed to be him traveling about 30mph on a quad and hitting bunnies whith a rifle

I seem to remember quite a few years back that they were blaming the decline in song birds on the use of such pellets. I am sure it would be cheaper for the farmer to invite some of us guys to control the pigeons.

Hi bounty hunter, I tried the idea about 8 years ago, yes it is a good idea it has its benifits when out lamping but it was a PITA setting up each time so--- i gave up and just use experience these days. Mind you having an air rifle with a higher velocity than a normal 12ftlb does have its advantages. It just ended up as another gadget in the box.

I am sure that all the replies have read your post Maori Haz, but nobody has commented on the fact that you say that you had been shooting for most of the day. We cant judge your size but you say your nearly 14 i would imagine that for a young gun to be shooting for what you say was all day, it would put a strain most older shooters, shoulders would ache and you would feel tired. IMO i would say (if the gun fits) and your happy with using a 12g carry on, you can always use a lighter load until you get used to it, and, grow into it.

In the olden days B) we used to use a car battery and a car spot light, one would carry the battery and lamp the rabbits then change over when your shoulder went all num. So it really had to be a team effort. Then came the invention of the "small"gun mounted lamps since then me and bro used to have our own fields to lamp. We used the spot from a distance, with just a short burst of the lamp and walk up closer to the area were the rabbits were then lamp again. Its just a matter of what works best for you.

I bought a pair of Aigle Pacors last year at weston £65 extremly comfy and warm.

I was asked by one of my permissions if i could sort out some Canada's that were causing a bit of a problem. I went along with my shot gun and a couple of boxes of No3's, believe me it is not that easy. And that is with 3/4 and 1/2 choke and 1 1/4oz of shot doing about 1350fps. The job was done. but no way is an air rifle suitable for that kind of job. B)

IMO i think that some body is taking the P. If Mimic has difficulty in finding out his location in the UK, my advise would be for him to first find out were he lives and then to find out what he wants, cus all i can hear is somebody with a bit of flatulance.
