Could not agree more but from the outside it looks like one rule for us and one rule for who the MODS favour .
If speical treatment is open for some surely it should be open for all.
Or is PW turning into if your face fits you get speical treatment.

I was going to go on and fully explain if anyone was interested but lost interest when some people got into the festering spirt.
The principle is that you do not put out any pattern that resembles a natural feeding pattern except that the V faces into the wind and it is a V not a U. You can use as little as 3 decoys up ot 9 decoys. I use the old shell ones with the silsock on them. On the rota I use the false silsock and then change to dead birds asap.
The V is about 10 yds in size on the sides and 15 yds at the opening. When using 9 decoys I have 5-7 of them very close to the point of the V and the others set back still forming the v. The birds overfly the rear birds as I have already said they consider them Hawk bait and feel safe landing in the pattern.
The Rota is set to one side of the V near the front again showing the incoming birds that they are safe to land.
My son and I have over 4000 acres to shoot over of which 1000+ is rape, so we have to get the flight lines etc right. But the birds just drop in from way up, into the pattern.
You know what I am talking about when they just drop in like a Stukka bomber, you can stand up and they don't see you because they are fully committed and have changed their eyesight from independant 340 degs to fixed mono having identified a specific spot to land in.
We have sat there time and again and let birds land, thereby pulling in following birds so that we can both stand up and take a right & left.
Any birds shot are put out replacing the decoys at first, apex decoy head up,(I use wooden Kebab sticks from tescos to do this), as the bag increases so the V extends and becomes a double V one inside the other always leaving the central area of the V clear and open for birds to land in. I will also have some of the dead bids with heads up. It does get to the point where you don't put out ever bird shot as the V becomes to long. Best day using above was 297. Roost shooting 156.
The only reason I bothered to post this was to help out others who are not having any luck in improving their skills at shooting more birds over the pattern.
When I first tried this pattern 25+ years ago I had to trust in what he had told me and let the birds come into the pattern and not just try and hit anything when it came close. As my confidence increased in trusting the pattern so my kill rate went up with multi double kills. Nothing has changed over all those years except the Rota & Silsocks, which is an excellent piece of kit.
I have always tried to improve my Personal Best in any of my hobbies (I also enjoy Carp Fishing and have had many 50+lb fish up to 57lb) but "If it ain't broke why try and fix it", this works.
Anyway hope it is of some help to someone.

We have taken on a new bit off ground due to former ferretters being unwilling to ferret some of this farmers ground due to size of the warrens.
To say the warren was on the large size it run roughlt 500 yards along a bank with a thickish hedge.
We pursed netted the top half as it was open but at the bottom just netted the outside holes with two longnetts though gaps .
All 11 ferts in working the top open section first it was slow for a while bagged 5 then started to overlap the ferts moving downwards in hedge when we got to centre section it kicked off rabbits bolting backnetting and in the longnet.
A couple of good runs for the lurcher and our long legged terrier who loves catching in bottom of the hedgerow.
Had a brew and snack and then worked our way back down and collected a couple of rabbits that must of slipped back though the warren.

The warren started at my feet and went all the way to corner all connected
One knacked dog and the other still keen as mustard
And the final bag
Finnished with 23 good sized rabbits

its attitudes like this that makes the uk the way it is!! its not the point that we can still afford to fuel vehicles for 'leisure'! its the point we shouldnt have to! we shouldnt have to think about how much fuel we'll put in each time we go to the pumps, if the british ppl wouldnt bend over so much we could all be driving lovely big v8's and enjoying life!
It can also be put the other way if attitudes like your is why the UK is is in a pile of POO.
Over spending on items that you and others dont need EG a V8 by enjoying life do you mean overspending EG beyond your income bracket be it a morgage or other items.
As that is what I see in the day to day lifes of neighbours and friends.

Yes the increase in all taxes is a bad thing directly for most of us .
But the odd thing is in media and on here is the talk of the downturn as if all life has or will stop the fact is even in the extreme worst case most of us will still work in some for or fashion.
Take today a drive down the M4 and back reveals a huge amount of traffic if money was that tight and fuel that expensive should we still have so much leisure trafic on road.
I think not its not as bad as some think I cant hold together any longer captin.
Its more stop over spending on new toys if you cant afford them .
When you cant afford food and lose your internet connection to PW to moan about tax increase then its bad.

Think you was behind us on the stand by the club house we split up to help save the queues we was a group of three all shooting autos.

Yes that was us I was surprized as a ex forces person the relative easy of access to the barracks no real check on IDs of persons entry.
How did you all get on with the targets there was some good birds for a small well run shoot.

No I was the small white fistea van I took that as its peanuts to run and was a fair trek for me to keep cost low.
I was shooting with guy called adrian and his wife in the red coat I think it may have been you who told him you where from a shooting forum but because I deaf and also had my plugs in never court that bit of chat.

Rule number one if you dont know what anybody looks like have plan to find who your meeting totally slipped my mind.
It was not until the end when the guy I went round with said its so busy because there where some guys from a shooting forum there.
I asked ever group of shooters bar yours still had fun and shot well the two stands at the bottom of the trench was testing.

12volt it's had a very easy life. sat on the back of a redundant landrover for about 2 years. had a few outings before that, used in anger about a dozen times at most. been run a few times to keep it in working order. you are reading the price right. why? too cheap?

Like guns there is only a dangerous user not a dangerous gun or chainsaw.
Forgot to say change the rubber dampers regularly ever 6 months to minumize vibration to your hands .User forget they get worn and then dont notice the excessive vibrations can lead to white finger etc.

Husky good saw but the real pain for a regualr user is they need alot of tools to keep in fettle in the field.
Stihl you can take apart with the spark plug spanner thingy they provide.
Also stihl have outbore clutchs system where the huskys has inbore a pain in the backside to service change.
And as stated chaps are now outlawed by HSE for pro user and I think you should not be able to buy they new only used ones from ebay etc.

My Son & I have over 1000 Acres of Rape and we set up on Flight Lines, Sitting Trees etc having done our recon and yes the max amount of decoys I will put out is 9, in the V pattern. I also use the Rota and if required 2 rota's, the pattern is never more than 10-15 yrds from the hide and the Rota is placed near to the pattern.
Think about the Hawk situation fron the birds point of view, it does make perfect sense. Our bags vary from 100+ each in two hides to 50-60 on a regular basis.
Try the concept and see what you think, I didn't believe it at first but by god it works. Old Archie was one of the best full time Pigeon Shooters in the UK so I went with it and have enjoyed the benifits of his imparted knowledge from that day on.
I was only trying to pass on some hints & tips for those not getting as many in the bag as they would like.

Tried your 3 bird pattern yesterday the only problem is HAWK dived in took my two outer birds which left me with a ONE bird pattern

Am I really taking the morale high ground I dont think so I am just putting the point straight and direct which if somebody signs a deliver note with a false name in order to deceive the sender or carrier then I am wrong to think thats wrong :
I give up what the name of your freight company ME I fancy sending some gear to a friend for him to sign his name Mickey Mouse and then phone you to say he has not received it .
Still you got insurance so it would not bother you .
All your great work on the chartiy clay shoot has been undone for me by what your implying others to do and also by your own admission do yourself to screwfix.
I dont fancy writing cheque in your name again as you may become the Arthur Fowler of PW going on your statement.

While most get lashed up I prefer a nice quite night and getup early to enjoy the day off rather than half cut in bed.
So set out on our yearly fun ferretting on new years day still moping up some of the rabbits on the recent contract so numbers are thinning alot.
We have alot of very sandy ground with warrens going to three levels and very deep allowing the rabbits to step up and down.
Some enjoyable moments always use the longnet to backup runners plus dog means not a whole lot escape our crew .
Finished with 15 healthy rabbits.
