  1. Two weeks ago I did a-bit of stalking near Galloway Forest. Stalked uphill in a fire break - upon reaching a larger clearing where a stonewall guards the tree line - I spooked three roe deer that took off running up the hill. Two stopped just shy of jumping over the wall about six hundred meters away. I lost track of the third one. I found a covered place to sit and watched the two roe deer. They were does, and kept looking to the hill side at something as they slowly moved back downhill closer to me. I thought perhaps they were looking at, and waiting for, that third deer, which could have been a buck. I glassed and glassed the hillside looking for that possible Roe Buck, and any other deer of course, when out of the woods a young Red Stag, still in velvet, jumped out of the forest, over the wall, and started grazing on the hill side about 500 meters away – not too far away from the two roe does. My prayer was answered as he – the young stag - started to move down the hill closer to me. He kept moving closer. At 150 meters I released a .308 150 grain hammer head from my T3. He was standing broad side to me and the bullet hit him square in the chest, he jumped and took a few steps to the right, and stood still while he scanned the tree line looking for where the noise of the shot came from. I reloaded and put the cross hairs back on his chest and was about to pull the trigger when he passed out and died. During the gralloch I found the bullet had broken a rib, ricocheted off the rib shredding his liver - he bled to death. His body cavity was filled with what seemed like gallons of blood. Now he’s resting quietly in my freezer waiting for tea.

    Circumcision

This from the site: http://www.medicinenet.com/circumcision_the_medical_pros_and_cons/article.htm "...Recently, however, several large studies revealed a 60% decrease in HIV transmission in circumcised males compared to uncircumcised males. This may ultimately influence some changes in recommendations in the near future." What is done to females in regards to circumcision is just plain barbaric. Doing it to males - I think - is not barbaric as there are good faith based and practical reasons for doing so, and no good reason to do it to females. It needs to be left up to parents. Not to leave it up to the parents means more control over our lives - and faith - goes to the Government. What I think is interesting is - IMHO - that NO ONE on this forum, or in the UK or the USA, would have the courage to tell muslims that they can't do male circumcisions, but those same people will have plenty or courage telling Jews and Christians what they can and can not do.

    Circumcision

Jews did it first - then the Arabs. Genesis 17 New International Version - UK (NIVUK) The covenant of circumcision 9 Then God said to Abraham, ‘As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. 10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: every male among you shall be circumcised. 11 You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. 12 For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner – those who are not your offspring. 13 Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. 14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant

  5. When I took my DSC1, though I don't think it's in the book, the instructor recommended that if you were ever nabbed for drink driving (or any other related arrest/crime), to bring your firearms to your local dealer, transfer them, voluntary turn in your shotgun/firearm Certificate. and then reapply AFTER the legal action has taken its course.
  6. Wow!!! has it been a year since my first pigeon outing? And double Wow!!! that my year old entry has caused a stir. What I have to say about that is Country Boy hit the nail on the head - I was hypothetically speaking about my day out and what I saw. I was 100% percent sure pigeons were fair game and kept it to that. Ignorance would have been to shoot those ducks, the Roe Doe, Pheasants, and whatever else happened to move. My shooting has not improved much – but my knowledge has. Hopefully that will make you less worried whilst I’m in the field.
  7. http://georgiapellegrini.com/ http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/03/10/im-girl-and-hunt/?intcmp=features On the one hand, I'm happy more ladies are getting involved in shooting sports. As females are roughly 50% of the population, the more females that are involved in shooting sports, understand firearms and where food comes from, the less opposition, restrictions, and legislation we'll see in our beloved outdoor shooting pursuits. But, this also means another male sanctuary is being invaded by females. What makes men men is increasingly being feminized and marginalized! There was a time, with the odd exception, that men provided for and protected their family with his wife tending to the home as only a lady can. Roles where clearly defined and the family prospered. It was the odd exception that a womanizing drunk male did not live up to his God given duties. History has been re-written for us to believe the exception was the norm. Since then women have invaded male spaces - feminizing them. OR worse, acting like the womanizing drunk male mentioned above. Its great that more woman shoot! Its bad that there is yet another place where guys cant be guys and relax as there may be a lady a-bout. All that said, your girls and special lady may find the provided links interesting.

  10. Here are my two Pence that may offend you - but hey, the Gay agenda offends me. In my humble opinion, our genes let our basic human sexuality attach to anything. That means, any human can find just about anything erotic. By anything, I mean a Man or a Women can become sexually charged with the same sex or different sex partner, or with boys, girls, animals, inanimate objects and even dead people. Humans have shagged and been shagged by most of the above through history. Always leading to the collapse of the family and then society at large. In the ancient world of the Greeks, Romans, the samurai of Japan, and other cultures homosexuality, paedophilia, and bi-sexuality was rampant. There was no gay thing to deal with as everything was in the open and everything went. And so went those cultures down the drain, washed away mostly due to their rampant perverted life style. In such cultures the family (the corner stone of any society) suffers, then fails and then the rest of society collapses. It was Judeo-Christian principles, starting with the Jews, that started to change peoples attitude toward an anything goes sexual culture. And for the record; Jews and Christians are not prudes or old fashion when it comes to sex. They just believe that it is a gift from God, and that anything goes for a married couple of one man and one woman. God created Man & Woman to be in a dedicated monogamous relationship with each other. This loving heterosexual monogamous relationship is the best way to have and raise children, thus creating a stronger society. Anything other than sex within a married heterosexual relationship leads to problems that we are all too familiar with. Boys without dads joining gangs as they look for a family bond; girls looking for a stong father figure in the wrong places getting pregnant multiple times by multiple males thus creating more boys and girls that get into more trouble, trouble that we all pay for in terms of high crime rates, dole payments for single Mums and unproductive people who take more than they give back. All that said, homosexuality has everything to do with genes as our genes tell us to copulate everything and everyone, of any sex or thing, that we may fancy. It is a choice to be hetrosexual, Gay, or Bi, or a paedophile. Most choose to be "normal" and have a desire for a monogamous heterosexual relationship due to a proper upbringing in an in-tack home that promotes (either consciously or unconsciously) Judeo-Christian values and beliefs. About sexual choice, and how some same it's not a choice: I would say that the very strong desires people have, maybe since birth, to be gay, bi, etc, may seem like anything but a choice at all because those desires are so strong. Nonetheless, it is still a choice to sleep with a same sex partner, or any sex partner for that matter. It is not a choice to not eat, sleep, be black, white, asian, or have a bowel movement. It is a choice to have sex with someone. If you have the time, and if I had not put you off, listen to these two podcasts. 13. Me wife offered a kitchen pass for a few days stalking in Scotland and off I went. First day out - in the afternoon - A Roe Doe was culled. From sun-up, for three hours, a high seat saw me bum and nothing else. By ten I climbed down and started up a logging road, across a high tree line (forest on my right, heather and rock on my left). Walked slow and glassed a lot with nothing of interest moving but me. Started to come down the hill with the wood still on my right and now sheep pasture on the left, but now - I was not able to hug the woodland as it was too boggy. Moved about 50 yards left into the high pasture as the ground was firmer, but now I had no cover. Slowly I walked down glassing the woods edge. About three hundred yards from the valley bottom and road, there were three roe does feeding right on the edge of the wood below me, about 40 to 50 yards away. Started to open my shooting sticks, was spotted and two does bolted into the wood. The third starred at for what turned out too long for her. Dropped my sticks, shouldered my tikka T3 and took aim, first looking at the head making sure of no antlers, none - moved the hairs to her chest and fired. She kicked like a mule, ran three meters and dropped. Here she is!
  14. It's a mild winter [so far] - and the climate is always changing!
  15. Bought a 5/6 gun safe thinking it would be large/deep enough for the guns I had in mind. Mistake that was as what I had in mind was way less than what I've so far acquired. Now I need a larger/deeper safe. Go large and deep, with the seperate locking compartment - in time you'll be happy you did.
  16. I'm in the Market for a Rifle Safe similar to, but not limited to, the Brattonsound models: RD7+ 6 to 7 rifle cabinet w/shelf [1515h x 407w x 346d] OR RL7+ 6 to 7 rifle with 203mm internal locking top [1515h x 407w x 346d] If you have a safe as above, in good repair, that you no longer need, be in touch.

    243?

Ditto on the Tikka T3!!! I have T3 in .308 with a meopta scope and wildcat mod. Very accuracte and rugged. Last year, while stalking, coming down a hill with rifle slung over my shoulder - I fell backwards, right on to the gun and scope. We all got muddy and banged up the rifle and scope pretty good. Abandoned the stalk to check the ZERO. And it was still spot on at 100 meters.
  20. I do, I really do feel much better!!! Thank You.
  21. Try this: Figure out what your payments would be, if you're that silly to buy anything on credit, and save that amount putting it in a savings account that hopefully offers some interest paid to you. Then, when you have enough to purchase what you want - buy it cash! OF course you will have to wait to shoot while you save. But hey, that's what people did when credit was not in fashion and looked down upon by our wise fore fathers. Of course, now everyone is believes the lie that credit is good for you. Buying anything on credit, except maybe a house (and only if you have a huge down payment), is just plain dumb. Any terms any financier offers are always in their best interest – NOT yours. Buying things on credit, especially things that wear out and lose value, like guns, cars, fishing poles, means you get to use it while the original cost gets higher and higher via interest. Make a credit purchase for an item with a price of say 1,000 quid and pay it off over 2 years with say 10% interest. That item will then cost 1107.36 at the end of the two years (46.14 quid/month). If you miss payment - then the cost goes up of course. Ohhh, you say, you can get 0% Interest? Have a look at the fine print and see what the penalty is for missing a payment. You'll get hit with a hefty fee for sure. So, not only has your 1,000 pound credit purchase cost you 1107.36 pounds - the item you bought is now worth less than the purchase price as it's now used and starting to wear out. Payments suck, buying things on credit sucks, and anyone who buys things on credit is a sucker playing right into the banker’s or the financiers arms. Here is what works every time with least amount of hassle, and saves you lots of money - Save your money, purchase a quality item, and make good use out of it as you enjoy your sport without any payments hanging over you head!

  23. The Lone Star State of Texas has the most liberal guns laws as any one may own just about any firearm they desire. And Texas has the lowest firearm crime rate of all the fifty States. This amnesty non-sense can be solved legalizing firearms for everyone.
