1st goose flight tomorow
novice cushie shooter replied to novice cushie shooter's topic in Wildfowling
Well it was windless and misty which i believe are not a great combination. Still managed a right and left and a single for 6 shots. Great feeling hearing the guide pulling them in closer and closer. -

I got my first cocker on the 2nd jan and shes been brilliant. No accidents in the house for 3 days now and settled at night. The jumping up is annoying me but figure that will come shortly. Shes seems very keen to learn already and is very much part of the family. Books wise i really like joe irving gundogs and their learning chain. I only had a lab before now so am constantly learning too -
Yep just up the road from me. Thanks

We got her from bishop auckland figgy. About a 6 hour round trip from edinburgh. She has a mallowdale, chewky bovril, dandrew till her great grand parents and 5 gen pedigree seems very good. We are all getting well just now. Cant wait to get her 2nd set of jags done and start basic obedience. She is well house trained already but a bit whiny when going to sleep.

I managed to bag my first duck today! Had a small let day with a few friends for pheasant and partridge and got a duck drive thrown in! Ive shot for 20 odd years and done 2 flights in that time. Delighted is an understatement!! Beautiful day weather wise more an October day than january. Thr birds were nicely presented and challenging! https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ufj8hl5s638td6/received_10154350367583995.jpeg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ibo3rcna7jvgt1l/received_10154350366683995.jpeg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/cfhojxiw3gk850l/received_10154350366768995.jpeg?dl=0

Wee wander yesterday

Yeah was a good mooch. Know the fox lines too! -
Day off work and no syndicate shoot i decided to go for a wander in the fresh snow to see whats kicking about fresh print wise. A few fox tracks a few smaller paws that looked like a stoats seen lots of deer. I didnt flush any pheasants as they were all tucked up cosy in the woods! I hovered about a busy flightline but there was very little heading out at 10am! I did manage a woodcock walking an old wood out so my new game bag got christened! Thoroughly enjoyed the walk but hard going in the snow ease the legs off before my last shoot of the season on Tuesday.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/r3cstsa1j9scydu/DSC_0372.JPG?dl=0
