  1. Is this the post you are talking about? Pigeon Shooters name - Ryan Mcphee Part of UK bag was shot - North Scotland The total number of pigeons shot = 114 Gender - male The gun you used - Air Rifle Bag Date - 12.01.03 The Crop type - Wood The day details - A good wind pigeons feeding on arival 150 shots fired at pigeons 3 at rabbit only got 2 and 9 shots fired at crow but only got 5. I think the vital bit of information is the "Crop type: Wood", he is not using a pattern but is shooting the pigeons out of the trees, as I stated in an earlier post this is perfectly reasonable (I have done the same). Mark.
  2. I have not read the report, but does it states that the pigeons were landing in his pattern? It is not that difficult to shoot that amount of pigeons out of trees with an air rifle. On a good day I have had a continuous stream of pigeons landing 30-35 yards away just sitting in the trees. Mark.
  3. NeVeTas, Have you used it to lamp rabbits? If so what is it like at spotting them on a dark night? At what distance is it effective? Mark.
  4. Hi BTMS, Where are you from? I do not live in Littlehampton but I do live in Sussex. I Live in brighton and currently work in Worthing (not for much longer as they are closing the office). Anyway, to answer your question, the nearest clay ground that I know of is in Findon called (Southdown Sporting clays), it is a fairly large club which holds the Nationals and has a decent Sporting layout as well as Skeet, Compact and other layouts. Let me know if you want directions, or to meet up sometime. Littlehampton should not be too bad an area to find some pigeon shooting, good luck. Welcome to Sussex. Mark.
  5. Yes, the rape is a bit to long to be shot over now but you may get some pigeons still feeding on the outside of the fields, if you have trees around the outside of the fields try shooting a couple of hours before it starts to get dark to see if you can catch the pigeons flighting back to roost. Mark.
  6. Windy, overcast days are best as it keeps them moving. Best times are at first light and from 3 - 6 pm In may be different in your area, but this is what makes pigeon shooting more interesting (when you find the best days, times, locations etc). Mark
  7. I am looking at buying one of the first three videos on the link above, does anyone have any opinions on them? Good, bad or ugly? Mark.
  8. The following site does not have any Pigeon shooting videos but it does have some good clay coaching and game shooting videos (at good prices). http://www.ldtv.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?...ehtml%23a46#a46 Please note I have no connection with the site and do not gain anything from this post. Mark.
  9. Hi Dead-eye-****, Target sports of Bolton have some, let me know if you need the details (they are in the Sporting gun). Mark.
  10. I am now getting to the point where I need a decent carry bag for my decoying equipment, I have been using several small bags and I have now run out of arms to carry them all. Can anyone suggest a good large carry bag to carry deeks, magnet, cradles, poles, netting, seat etc? I thought maybe a bag I could carry rucksack style would be best. Mark.
  11. Will, I really don't understand your attitude towards people on this site, we are all a friendly bunch and generally get along well. I have seen many comments from you that are just childish and not at all helpfull. This post is from someone trying to help people out (with no profit), is this concept alien to you? As a pigeon guide I would guess you have a lot of usefull tips that would help the less experienced members of the site how about sharing these rather than making studip comments, you are certainly not encouraging me to use your services. Mark. :<
  12. I am out tomorrow on some set-aside. and maybe on a rape field if all else false. On seen any birds on the rape field recently though. Mark.
  13. Everyone sees lead differently, I may see it as 6 foot but this would be no help to you, who may see it as less or more. The only advice anyone can give is focus on the target (not the gun), keep the gun moving (follow through) and practice lots. Just remember that 90% of shots are missed behind. On the subject of practice, if you are only just starting to shoot shotguns then practice on Clays it is not right to target practice on a live animal. We all miss but you should be fairly confident about you ability to hit the bird before you pull the trigger. Mark.
  14. So whats given Mr PP the hump then? Mark.
  15. The Harris Bi-pod (the best I have found), does need the base to be screwed to the stock, it is permanantly fixed and the legs can be removed (on most models). Mark.
  16. How many deeks do you use in the pattern before you have started shooting any birds (to add to the pattern). Mark.
  17. Dead-eye-****, What is wrong with you current rotor? Are you getting rid of it\selling it? If so I may be interested. Mark.
  18. I use AA field pellets, these are very accurate. The harris Bi-pod fits on the end of the stock nicely. Mark.
  19. You must have an S410, I have the thumbhole stock version, they are a fantastic rifle, but I still prefer my Rapid MKII FAC rifle (it just has the edge, but the S410 looks far better). Mark.
  20. What is so good about the HH decoys? Has anyone managed to find them yet? Mark.
  21. I received some new decoys from ############## (excellent service and a quality product). After speaking to a reletive who is a farmer he took me to some Rape fields owned by a game shoot, where I used the deeks and shot a few pigeons (not large numbers but it was great to get out), I returned to the field the following day and spoke to the owner, who know who I was from the previous day and asked if I could shoot on the fields alone, He said YES and also told me about a couple of other fields I could shoot on, I am chuffed as I recently lost permission on the land I used to pigeon shoot(the land was sold), I now have even more land (several hundred acres). I look forward to some good Pigeon shooting, all I need to do now is find some time! Mark.
  22. I was trying to get a set of hide pole for the weekend but, ############## don't have them in stock, Sandwell are out of stock (first time in 5 years), N & S need me to send a cheque so no chance of getting them by the weekend. And I am not paying Deben £70 even if they could get them to me in time. Mark. :(
  23. Which poles would you recommend, the N&S or Sandwell? Do they differ a lot? Mark.
  24. Do you have the contact details for S&N? Web site would be great. Mark.
  25. Sean, Thank you for your reply, I will have a look at the site, do you know how long it takes to get stuff delivered from them? What about hide netting? I was looking at the deben hide poles, anyone got any idea of what they are like? Mark.
