  1. I own the thumbhole version of the S410 in .177 and it is a fantastic rifle, I also own a Theoben Rapid MKII FAC in .22 and the S410 is just as accurate as this (but cost less). All I would say is that if you are going to get a quality rifle like the S410 then don't scrimp on the Scope, and I moderator is also a good idea if you are shooting live quarry with it (the new Air arms silencer is good but marks easily, also look at the logon silencer which I have and it is great). My only problem with the S410 is that if I am on the range I find that I run out of air in the chamber quite quickly (about 50 - 75 shots), I guess I am just spoilt with the Rapid. This is never a problem if it is just being used in the field though. You will not regret your choice. Mark.
  2. A .22 rim-fire will kill foxed upto 50 yards even with sub-sonic ammo, I would suggest head shots but chest shots work equally well. Let me know if you need any help. Mark (Brighton, East Sussex)
  3. No air pistol is suitable for shooting LIVE targets, they are not powerful enough and certainly not accurate enough. A low powered air rifle (10 - 12 ft/lb) would be more suitable with a good backstop. Mark.
  4. As a slight side issue to this subject, when shooting Rabbits do you gut them in the field or when you get home? If in the field then what do you do with the insides? Mark. p.s. I also hate people with this attitude, if you have no intention of taking ANY home then don't shoot them. I must confess to throwing some very fly blown pigeons into the bushes but I could not think what else to do with them (the foxs should still eat them). What do others do in this in case? Mark.
  5. Steve, Choke received, I look forward to using it. Thank you for the fast friendly service. Mark.
  6. I also have the Deben ones and I don't experience the problem of them turning on in my bag. Mark.
  7. William, It sounds like a Silver Pigeon II, I own the 12g version. they are great guns and very reliable. Mark.
  8. I shot 20 in 20 minutes, it was inside a builders merchants warehouse, I used a 12 ft/lb air rifle, in .177 so it did not damage the roof to much. Mark.
  9. Do you have a Berretta 1/4 choke, the type that are flush with the end of the barrel. Mark
  10. After shooting a lot of pigeons, I take them home and lay them on a towl damp with cold water, I then cover the birds with other damp towls. I normally leave them in this over night as it can be to late to to pluck them when I get home. Do you think they would be OK over night? Mark.
  11. My personal opinion is that you are more likely to hit distance targets with a tighter choke rather than an open one. With a tight choke the shot starts off very close together and spreads out the further it goes, giving less holes in the pattern at long distances. With an open choke the shot starts spreading as soon as it leaves the barrell, so at long distances the pattern would contain some large gaps (less pellets will hit the bird, maybe none). In summary, open choke for short range birds and tight choke for distance birds. I use 1/4 and 1/2 chokes which seems to cover most birds but then I miss more than I hit.
  12. Not sure I agree with the opinion of the 5 notches. I have a Beretta Silver Pigeon II which uses the standard chokes and 5 notches (stars) is Cylinder and no notches (stars) is Skeet. Mark
  13. Deako, When are you going to put pictures of your new poles on the web site? Mark.
  14. It was excellent weather last year and I hope it will be more of the same this year. Mark.
  15. Deako, I will be round to see you on Sunday, with shopping list at the ready. Currently it stands at: Rota-coy, Rota Battery and decoy bag. I am sure it will increase when I see all the goodies though. Mark.
  16. Are you talking about racing pigeon rings or some sort of special rings? All Racing pigeon rings have a country code and a number on them which tracks the owner. I once found a web site that told you where to send the GB ones, it maybe worth a web search. Mark.
  17. Best of luck on the course, make the most of it as I am sure you will do very well.
  18. This sounds like a great club, its a real shame that I am not in this area. Mark.
  19. I am looking to get a new rotor and wondered if I should go for a rotor with 4 arms or if I will get the same result with the 2 arm machine (like the Rotor-coy). Also what do you think about speed controllers, are they worth getting or is the standard speed good enough? When I used my old rotor I never changed the speed so I would be interested in what others think. Mark.
  20. This is the first year that I have been able to shoot over Rape so please excuse my ignorance as I normally shoot over Peas or clover. I am just wonder what the process of harvesting Rape is, from what I read on hear it seems like it is sprayed and then Swathed (cut?). When is the best time to shoot over it, I have been unable to shoot over the rape for a while due to it being to high. Thanks Mark.
  21. Cranfield, Do you have the Pinewood advantage? Is it the one with the single pole that sticks in the ground? Do you find it stable in allmost soil types? Mark.
  22. I am looking to buy a new rotor, I am unsure of which to go for, it seems like the three top rotors at the moment are made by: Shoot warehouse ############## Pinewood Does anyone have any opinions on the above rotors, good and bad points. Thank you Mark.

Mamood, Attracting any animal into your garden for the sole purpose of shooting it is not legal, the reason the decoying is allowed is before the birds are being shot because they are eating the crops, what reason do you have not shooting them in your garden? I must confess that I have shot pigeons in my garden but my defence is that I am protecting my vegtablefruit plants (crop protection). Mark.
  24. I also hope to go, it is a long drive so I will be driving up in a motorhome and staying for a couple of days, I went last year and what a great show. Mark.
  25. So did you sell the Gen II+ night vision? I noticed that it did not hit the reserve, have you sold it privately? Mark.
