  1. Had look at some. Sowing that went in on Sunday.birds had built up. Over last few day when I got there only crows , but a good number.broblem was it was three fields of sowing in one block. Set up on the up wind side put out six full bodied seeks and after a while a crowcame over got him put it out on a flapper.as the fields where peat moss and crows didn't see decoys till fairly close.started to get a few birds then farmer stated ploughing two fields away this changed flight line but some big packs came over . I don't like shooting at big lots but with farmer in fields l couldn't leave them.some birds did decoy after got flapper going but battery ran out after about 1 hour I had forgot to charge it.still had a nice afternoon and got 20 carrion crows 4 pigeon .

  6. hi guys, was out looking at some farms i have permission on,all had been sown some had a few birds on others nothing at all, found a field that had both ferals and woodies, set up near a oak decoys on my right. wind was blowing right to left and was very strong birds very decoy shy.got 2 and put them out as wellhad some good shots at flared birds put all shot out in the deeks.had to let a lot of low birds go unshot as flying parallel to a main road. and a lot of birds going over the road on some more sowing not on my perm.picked 21 and lost 2, but enjoyed the afternoon.
  7. was out looking at a farmer friends fields that he sown last week, snow started to clear on sunday and was all gone todaY a good number of woodies in the wood and a good flight line of crows as well. set up half way along the wood wind was left to right so put out two lots of deeks pigeons and crows twenty five yards apart, the crows started to come back right away and came in very well, but if i moved to soon they sipped off on the strong wind shot some very good birds but missed some easy ones , the pigeons never came back just a odd one now and again but i shot three good pigeons to add to the bag. none of the pigeons would look at the deeks. the bag was 31 carrion crows 8 jackdaws and 3 wood pigeon. total 42 for the afternoon.
  8. thanks rainman, yes it was a good day,
  9. hi guys. was out yesterday with my 2 dogs' nice sunny day but no wind the first walk we flushed a cock pheasant out of range' we then moved to another farm and walked the rough ground the dogs flushed a nice hen that i shot ' further on another bird was flushed i hit it first shot but missed my secound shot i watched it disapear over some trees, we then turned round and on way back put up 2 woodcock first one could not get a shot at as it was twisting away through thick scrub birch, secound bird was flushed in the clear and this i got' we then walked some more scrub land and the dogs put up a cock bird this also was added to the bag , both dogs were getting tired now as they are both gettin on one is 11 and one nearley 10. so with 2 happy but tired dogs and 2 pheasants and a woodcock for our three hour walk went home a happy man.
  10. hi guys. not posted for a while computer was repaired.took my 2 dogs and had a walk on one of our perms. still some barley not harvested so walked the boundry and flushed a covey of wild grey partridge shot one but left the rest as weather has upset the hatch early on .seen onother small covey but left them alone . worked overgrown ditch and shot a nice hen bird then dogs flushed a good cock this i also shot so walking back to vehicle dogs flushed about 15 snipe i got a shot at the last bird and connected , waS WELL PLEASED. over the lane waS MORE STUBBLE and the shots put up a few hundred pigeons watched a while but none returned , so went to another farm near by and walked some rough this produced another hen pheasent. so with 3 pheasents a partridge and a snipe i looked at another stubble that i had seen pigeons on some were going in to a oak tree so put my net up on one side and did not put out any deeks just flighted them over the tree shot nine woodies and a crow so ended up with 9 pigs. 3 pheas. a partridge and.a crow. and 2 happy dogs.ps. also a snipe.
  11. was on the same stubble as thursday, watched for a while and set up in the same place but this time put deeks more to my left and a flapper on the right. birds more wary than thursday, but shot a good right and left this put more birds out of a wood over my boundry, and one came over this i also shot. i was shooting much better than on thursday and had a crow over at extreme range this i also got i missed a woodie both barrels and thought o no not again, but the next i had 2 ferraLS for 2shots while not as many birds about as on thursday my shooting was much better and finished with 25 woodies a crow and three ferrals, and had 4 right and lefts in the session
  12. went and had a look at a stubble that has had a lot of crows, no crows today but a good number of pigeons, someone else was setting up on first field so i had look at another field birds on and more flying in from differant area. set up my back to a small oak deeks out in front a good wind also at my back. had birds in right away killed a good long crosser another that was in the deeks, set out a flapper and was shooting well had ten birds for 12 shots then the rot set in started to kill one miss one was still killing good birds but missed a lot of easy ones, and had a number of second barrel kills that were very fast in the strong wind. then missed three on the run then got some form back and shot my last 4 birds .got 36 pigeons and 3 crows.but dont want to count my empty shells.
  13. i have a permission that has public woodland each side of a barley stubble, today the field was full of pigeons, the park on both sides and cottages at one end so could only shoot in one direction. set out the deeks and had my hide in a pit hole , the number of birds that passed each side in range i could have had a shot at was to many to count, but all the time had people each side of me, so could only take birds one wayto be safe, had some good high birds and even some long ones over the deeks as had to set up with wind in my face due to the park and cottages, so after 2 hours and 34 birds later packed up as more and more people on the paths.
  14. thanks if someone had been with me and set up at a lone oak tree 2oo yrds away they to would have had as meny.
  15. had a phone call from a friend to say a lot of birds on the rape stubble, got there at 11o clock and watched, birds were for about 45 mins. good wind waS MOVING BIRDS ROUND, was going to set up at pit hole on the rape but would have had wind on my right and would have been shooting over a footpath birds were using a tree line as a gathering area and there was barley stubble in front of trees, set up at big ash tree and had 2 oaks on my left. deeks out in front, had birds in as soon as i got back in hide it was steady shooting i missed a few at first but found my form and shot some good birds in the strong wind. also missed a couple of easy ones as well. finished with 65 pigeons and one crowa super day
  16. had to take my dog to the vets. on way back had a look at some fields that were being combined. both fields had birds on a mixture of pigeons and crows. the farmer wanted me to concentrate on the crows as they dig the seed out when sown. set up at 2. oclock and had three good hours the blacks decoyed well and so did the pigeons. at times had both pigeons and crows over the deeks, and had to leave pigeons as farmer was in next field . it was fast at first with crows for about 2 hours , they then stopped coming, but pigeons still flying so started on them and haD GOOD HOUR or so' the bag was 31crows and 17 pigeons a total 48 in three hours. a good afternoon out.
  17. was out with my dogs when my mobile rang, it was a farmer to say a lot of crows were on a strip of sowing and he sounded desprate and would i go up and have a go at them . got to the field at 12.45 and sure enough a lot on field and in the tree,s set up at a pit hole with the wind blowing righr to left, put 5 crow deeks out in front and 2 rooks flew over as soon as i was in the hide rushing to put carts in and missed both barrels, soon after a jackdaw came and i got him and put it out on my flapper next up was a ROOK AND he was swopped on to the flapper.had some nice long birds but vmissed 2 easey birds, the farmer came back in the field with two tractors one power harrowing and one sowing barley. it disrupted the shooting and birds were hard to decoy but had a good afternoon out got 23 crows and 1 woodie. will be looking at the field again on sat.
  18. no hoodies round were we live jackdaws, rooks, and carrion crows .i live in cheshire. thanks for looking at post.
  19. set up on a barley drill, 2 big fields sown after watching crows and pigeons feeding was about to set up when farmer came and started 2 roll the sowing,so set up on the secound field , not as mutch cover on this one but set hide against a high bank, got a pigeon , and the shot disturbed some crows that passed the deeks wide, after a 20 mmin, lull a crow came from behind and i shot it . put it on flapper and it made a big differance, crows came in to deeks with confidance,i shot some nice birds but missed some that i should have got, ended up with 15 crows and a woodie, would have had more if i had set up earlier, all the crows were carrion crows.
  20. shot a flight pond tonight, first time for six weeks. i feed it regular twice a week alot of duck using it,some ponds round about are iced over but this one is open because of the ducks shot four fat mallard , 2 for me 2 for the farmer. at one time there must have been over 30 ducks in ones twos fours flying round.but i came away happy with 4 ducks for 5 shots, 2 birds were good high birds with 20 bore bismuth.
  21. yes it was a good day and every bird was worked for and retrieved by my 2 dogs , i shot driven birds but my first love is working my dogs for a bird or two ,
  22. a good mate and me had a walk on saturday, it was steady drizzle but as we had it planned all week we said sod it lets go. the first walk produced 2 hen pheasents , then a spud field a grey partridge, we had seen 3 big coveys but taking off out of range after a tea break we went to another farm we walked some rough ground and got a cock bird then some stubble, but again 4 coveys out of range another spud field and we had another partridge we called it a day on the game birds with 3 pheas. and 2 partridge. we finished with a duck flight and got 4 mallard apigeon and a maggie so eleven for the day . and considering the weather the birds all flew well.
  23. had a look at some drilled barley fields, crows and a few pigeon were feeding on the seed on top. set up with the wind from right to left on a tree line , first to come were crows i shot one and missed one , put that out as a deek, and got another right away , put that on a flapper and had 3 more in 1o mins.pigeons started to move as some one started shooting the next farm. they would not decoy at first, so i missed a couple of long birds before i had one down. changed the crow on flapper for the pigeon and had more response , still a odd crow came over and also got 2 maggies ended up with 10 crows 2 maggies and 14 pigeons for hour and half.
  24. yes thats the only snag . yet 12 bore 28 grams are cheaper, is it because they sell more/
