  1. Lucky Mr Countryside Lass! Is the lass herself and Senor Jackster coming too?
  2. I wouldn't miss it for cash! One of the best days shooting I'll get this year. If it's half as good as the last one I won't want to go home Hope the 'Mega-Flush' for charity is going ahead when you get it organised (hopefully later this year?) - 500 birds and teams of 10 sounds awesome!!! See you and the other PW members on Sunday - hope it stays windy
  3. I'm looking for a reliable (Norica or similar) .410 3 shot. Cash waiting and collection at your convenience. Looking for something full-sized as I'm 6'1" and W&S and similar are just too small. Please let me know what you have - an O/U would be even nicer but budget is limited as it will be primarily a vermin gun. Thanks for looking
  4. Sounds like a plan - if it's anything like the shoot that Fair Clays put on at Wendling it'll be well worth the trip
  5. I'll have a slice of that please! I'll be there with bells on. Your flushes are always a damn fine day out buddy
  6. Are any PW members planning on attending the NGO shoot tomorrow? Just curious but it's always good to put a face to a name...
  7. We shoot regularly (every other Sunday) at Beeston just outside Dereham which is about 30 minutes from you I'd guess (I used to live in Downham). 100 birds over 10 stands. The guy who runs it is on here as 'hitclays' and you'll find a warm welcome. There is a shoot tomorrow at the old Sandringham Ground. The NGO Silver Partridge but I'm led to believe it's open to the public. I'll be going and another few PW members so if you're free give it a try?
  8. Thanks for today's layout. Some of those curlers were really challenging in the gusts and it was good to see that better shots than me can make mistakes too The 'Have A Go' was a great idea and I expect we'll be stopping by tomorrow for another go. Shame about the weather but what a nice friendly group of people
  9. 1/4 and 1/2 works for me with clays across the board and I reckon it's a good blend of pattern and distance. I now have a Hatsan S/A for decoying / rough work (was starting to mark up my Winchester clay gun climbing through hedges!) and I keep 3/4 in that all the time. That way a hit's a hit and a miss is sport for another day. What the other guys have said about pointing your barrels in the right direction is bang on the money - give yourself a bit of leeway, spread-wise with clays 'cause a chip counts as a kill but tighten up for live quarry so you kill cleanly. Biggest difference I would suggest is 28g 7.5 loads for clays (Velocity is a brilliant cartridge and not too dear) but 32g 6s (Eley Pigeon is a good hard-hitting one) when you're out and about. Most important thing of all is enjoy your shooting and don't beat yourself up when you miss - if it was that easy everyone would be an expert
  10. You'll be ordering another couple of crates then Jenners? lol

  11. Sounds excellent - I heard really good things about the last one
  12. Those that haven't tried FCT yet ought to find out what they're missing... then start walking backwards until they're missing even more For all you PW guys who haven't been yet you'll find out what this fun game is when you come! 'hitclays' likes to shoot at targets in different postcodes but it won't half improve your distance shots
  13. Come and join us again one sunny Sunday at Watery Lane, Beeston (and, obviously, afterwards at The Ploughshare for sarnies and a snifter) and you can shoot 100 over 10 different stands with a score card - winner buys the first round should be a good incentive! Good fun meeting you guys and look forward to the next time
  14. Couldn't forget the cake! Thanks to Mike's long-suffering lady for feeding us poor malnourished guns. Great sarnies at the pub afterwards too - a thoroughly enjoyable day out. Mind and body (if not soul) taken care of. I guess if we were that bothered about our souls we'd have been in church instead of blasting clays in the sunshine though eh?
  15. These shirts look really good - the group that I shoot with regularly (Fair Clay Targets member: Hitclays) met up with some guys from around the county of Norfolk and even a couple of adventurous ones from over the border in Suffolk today for an excellent Flush. To see a number of members togged out in their polo shirts presents a very positive image of us as a group and I was just wondering whether you would consider personalising them so that member names are added above or below the logo? It's surprising how different the wearer can look from their forum ID! Just a thought but I thought it worth mentioning - another couple of quid would make everyone readily identifiable to fellow members. Keep up the good work - this is a great forum with some top-hole members
  16. Yet another thoroughly enjoyable day with Fair Clay Targets Really looking forward to Holkham Country Fair and glad that the new PW visitors had a good time with us Good Ol' Boys. It's amazing what fun you can have with friendly company, a really well laid out set out of reliable, hard throwing traps and a few kilos of cordite and lead. Thanks Alan
  17. If you ask your friendly neighbourhood smith it can be done without a new forend cap. I bought an Escort a few weeks ago and Norfolk Sporting Guns at Wymondham took a standard Bisley fore swivel and milled it to (I think) M4 then drilled and mounted the swivel with a nut behind the cap. Just charged me for the swivel set at £12.95. It's a fiddle but a good gunsmith will always help. Hope this helps...
  18. Hoggs make good gear (though the checked shirts don't last too well) I Did a bit of a shop before Xmas and The Sportsman Gun Centre in Exeter have some really sweet deals at the mo. You'll find them through Google and they're very helpful on the phone. I got a Sherwood tweed gilet ofr £25 instead of £100 and I'm impressed with the service I received. Hope this helps, Happy New Year :0)
  19. Cheers! I'll give them a go
  20. I've got my old one on eBay at the moment if you have a look. I'm in Norfolk so you'd be welcome to collect it if you ever come this way - otherwise I'm afraid it'll be a courier... Item number: 200558600506 Hope this might be of interest. Charles
  21. I'm waiting to see if anyone comes back to me on the forum before I go and spend £35 each for extended ones! I'd imagine that £20 each wouldn't be unreasonable? They are genuine Browning items and the two fulls have never been out of their storage tubes. I'll give you a shout as soon as I know what's going on as obviously I can't let my chokes go before I've got replacements.
  22. Hi - I'm looking for some extended invectors and if I get a set then my flush chokes will be available - Cyl, Mod Cyl, Full Steel and Full Lead so that pretty much give you the set :0) I'll get in touch if I get any offers and I'll be happy to post them to you. I'm only over the border in Norfolk anyway. All the best, Charles
  23. Hi there - just joined PW and really impressed with it as a forum. I've got a B525 with regular invector chokes and I'm hoping that someone may have a set of extended chokes at the back of a cabinet that they'd like to turn into cash...
