  1. Can you please PM me some more details? I've got a Graco fitted to my Winchester Select (after market) but it's not recoil reducing and I'd like to be hope that the base plate I've already got fitted would allow the rest of the unit to be mounted. Not being awkward, honestly, just trying to cut down on the fitting bill from my gunsmith
  2. Can you please tell me the size? If it'll fit a 44/46" chest please consider it sold
  3. Sometimes my Hatstand will shoot three carts, one after the next - do you want me to stand it next to yours at the next Hitclays flush at Beeston to see if it might be catching?
  4. Common sense talking there ^ You can clean up with a Baikal or Ugatachea (if anyone still remembers them)if you aim at the right bit of sky I learned with a cheap Zoli (in the days when Angelo made cheap guns with no thought to the cachet that his brother would eventually claim) and shot everything from DTL to sk**t with full and three quarter chokes and S&B 7/8 vermin loads. I'm only in my mid 40s so I'm not ready for retirement yet but a reliable BWM gun will be faithful and, should it need fixing, easily fixed while remaining easily rehomed if or when you want to change. If it's a hobby then more cartridges and more entry fees are more fun than more gun! I can't help but notice comments from fellow claybusters when it comes to Krieghoffs - if you step into the cage with one you'd better be able to justify anything you miss - it puts a lot of pressure on the shooter as the cost of the gun is taken to reflect the owner's opinion of their own abilities I traded my B525 (remember John Bidwell won his colours with a B425) for a Winchester Select Signature and, although it's only a £1500 gun, it holds its own against DT10s and even Krieghoffs on occasion Good luck with whatever you choose
  5. Every fortninght mate, it'd be good to see you - we'll even let you be an honorary Norolk boy again!
  6. Hi Jay - can you tell me more at Beeston tomoz (or, more likely in The Ploughshare)? It's always good to have a choice of grounds and I, for one, won't be renewing my membership at Taverham this year. See you there
  7. I'm honestly not sure - they got the bug good and proper but I imagine finances may have something to do with their reluctance! See you there
  8. The only review I'd want to write: I enjoyed it ALL I shall never get to worry any High Guns but it's my sport and I do it for fun. Sure, winning is great but being there in good company is more reliable and very rewarding in itself Two highlights (in my little world) were holding the Papworths (England shots, both) to a draw at the East Anglia Air Ambulance charity shoot in West Norfolk. 29 ex 30 on a very fast flush in the company of Mr Countryside Lass and more recently managing to get, undetected, into the winning team at the PW flush organised by HitClays in windy Norfolk. Meeting and making some excellent new friends from the PW forum has been first rate too and I'm chuffed to have helped a few new shots get a little further along the way I think enjoyment and friendly competition are the best things about our sport...and NO I don't do Sk**t!
  9. Cheers HitClays for another great shoot - really good to see so many happy faces about I reckon everyone was just glad to get away from Festive House Arrest Looking forward to the 2nd January shoot already
  10. Watery Lane at 11 my friend - then back to The Ploughshare Should blow a few cobwebs away
  11. How about a 'Wear your worst Christmas jumper and socks' day? I'm sure most of us got something we're never going to wear again so we could all the embarrassment out of the way in one go!
  12. Thoroughly looking forward to Tuesday's shoot - it'll be good to blow the cobwebs away Is everyone off to The Ploughshare afterwards as usual?
  13. It depends upon what else Santa brings me my friend but I'm quietly hopeful that there might be a jacket and trousers included Look forward to seeing you there - I strongly suspect that it will be an excellent day as usual...
  14. Bearing in mind I'm genetically incapable of missing out on an excellent day's company and sport I shall be there in my Christmas socks and whatever other strangeness appears under the tree I'll still shoot like an otter but you can't have everything
  15. Well said young man! I spent best part of an hour today picking up empties off 12 stands after everyone had enjoyed a cracking day's sport. I wasn't alone and the faithful few were, as usual, helping out. We did it gladly as always because we enjoy and appreciate the excellent shooting (and we wanted to help a certain person collect his Nigerian lager before it warmed too much in the steamy pub) However it wouldn't have been necessary if everyone had the same outlook as the PW guys and gals who were on the same ground only the week before No need for name checks but I think you'd like to know that today the exemplary and considerate attitude you all showed a week ago was mentioned more than once! Great ambassadors for PW and our sport in general :good:
  16. Semi Autos / Pumps always look like fun but there's more to go wrong with a SA and pumps make a second shot more challenging due to reloading - they're not always as welcome on rough or driven shoots as it's harder to see when they're 'safe' out in the field. There should be O/Us within your price range - E Rizzini multichokes often appear at about £300 in 28" barrelled form and you'd have to be a hooligan to make it worth much less for a trade-in in a couple of years time. If you're buying secondhand (which is only sensible) stick to a 12bore as carts are less expensive than 20bore (and I doubt you'd find a 20bore in that price range). Buy locally if at all possible because there's nothing better than being able to go back to a gun shop and asking them to put right any small glitches - by the time you've packed something up and RFD'd it that's another wedge spent putting right something that shouldn't have been wrong in the first place - that bit is the voice of experience talking A lot of grounds / shoots will be able to lend you something (hitclays always comes up with a loan gun given notice) and that way it's much better to try autos / pumps / OUs / SBSs. OU is, in my considered opinion, the way to go despite the fact that I use a S/A for rough shooting. Good luck and keep posting - lots of people on here will be happy to help ALL OF THE ABOVE IS ONLY MY OPINION AND NOT INTENDED TO RATTLE ANY CAGES - EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN OPINION AND IT WOULD BE BORING IF EVERYONE THOUGHT THE SAME WAY!
  17. It's bound to be another top day so, Acts of God aside, I'll be there, bright tailed and bushy eyed, trying some new missing techniques and creating innovative and (almost) believable excuses for shooting like an otter
  18. Really glad to hear that you're getting some exposure - well deserved Hopefully it may flush a corporate sponsor out of the undergrowth too
  19. You could try John Bidwells at High Lodge - not sure what he's got running over the festive season We have a blinder of a shoot on the 27th with Fair Clay Targets (hitclays) who ran the flush for PW last weekend. It's just near Dereham so about an hours drive... Merry Christmas and Happy Shooting
  20. With you there completely on the shout for Philip Webster (Swamp Lane Attleborough) - an honest and caring gunsmith - TOP BLOKE
