    4x4

The event is teams of 2 vehicles and 4 crew and the format changes each year. Last year Each section was limited to 20 mins to complete. Points were awarded depending how far you got in the given time. Like a big trial but you were allowed winches, stopping, shunting etc. None of the sections would be driveable without. There was also a 3hr punch hunt in a forest. The terrain ranged from a rock quarry, a bog, a big gully through a wood, an open moor, and a night section on very icy forest roads. All good fun but hard on vehicles. 20 teams took part, but not all finished. We also get teams over from Holland and Belgium. Regards, Ian.

Hi Kirky, get yourself over to Duns on the first weekend in March and take a look at the Muddy Truckers Trophy. It's a 3 day extreme challenge event to make your eyes water. The event is full but it'll be a top weekend to see the best UK teams in action. http://www.muddytruckers.co.uk/ Regards, Ian.
  5. Hi Pavman, nice goose shootin' What load and shot size do you use through the old 10 bore? Ian.
  6. Like Lurcherboy said get on NFR and become a member. Also sign up for the ferreting day on Feb 17th to get some hands on help. Happy hunting, Ian.
  7. The thing is the persons, usually, involved in airgun crimes aren't intelligent or responsible. Education could help, but if you asked police to identify an air rifle among rifles or shotguns alot would struggle. So what chance do we have? A shotgun type ticket would be the way forward for me. No requirement for cleared land or purpose of use. As for the amount of air guns around, where's the argument? How many shotguns are there in the uk? Legal and otherwise. You can buy a shot gun for £50, legally. A total ban will not happen, no matter how many distraught parents jump up and down. Ian.
  8. My old .22 hw77 loved H&Ns, as stated above, they are pretty good through Weirauch rifles. Regards, Ian.
  9. Thay are used to adjust the paralax of the scope. Big sidewheels are usually used in FT shooting for range finding, but a small side paralax adjuster can be useful to range find when hunting. Hope this helps, regards, Ian.
  10. Either day for me, Sunday would probably be better though. Regards, Ian.

    The Storm.

Very wet here over night and this morning. :( Got very wet out shooting this morning, but the sun got out this afternoon. A couple of drive were unshootable, due to flooding. Regards, Ian.
  12. I'm a member too. Got a good deal on a mark 3 ferret finder and an extra collar. Richard Halshall is a good guy to talk to, and gives out good advice to novices, (me). Definately worth registering. Regards, Ian.

    hi all

Hi Stubby, Thats one expensive TDR. What else did you get with it? A good scope and mounts, I hope. Welcome aboard. Regards, Ian.
  16. Hi Dazz, if you are hunting, a silencer is a must, the standard muzzle brake gives a lovely loud crack. Look at the AA silencer, straight fit, or Weirauch with an adaptor. A pump is hard work, so get a bottle if you can afford it, and depending on the age of the 410, the correct quick filler. Try a few different pellets through it, but AA fields, JSB exacts, or Daystate in size 4.52 will probably be best. Regards, Ian.

    Pellets

JSB Exacts and AA field in my S410, both 4.52mm. Effectively the same pellet, Daystates are pretty similar too. Regards, Ian.
  18. My shooting parner uses the Weirauch silencer on his s410k, and it is a fraction quieter than my classic with the aa silencer. It needs some sort of adaptor to fit though. Regards, Ian.
  19. YES got one brilliant piece of work My thoughts too. An excellent piece of kit. For hunting and HFT. # Regards, Ian.
  20. How much is scrap brass per tonne? Ian.
  21. I'd like to see that retrieve a pricked pheasant from across the river on a cold and frosty January morn. B) Regards, Ian.

    Scope

Sorry Rob, I don't agree. I've recently changed from 30/30 to mil dot and find the guess work from hold under/over has all but gone. I shoot .177 @ 12ft/lb by the way. You can fraction the gap between the dots to give the right hold for a know distance much easier than with 30/30. If 30/30 was so good why do most, if not all of the countries top FT/HFT shooters use mil dot with .177, and all the also rans, me included. There is some good stuff out there just now with paying the earth for it. Have a look at the JSR range of scopes, click on the link. Scroll down to JSR bargain optics. http://www.jsramsbottom.com/ I've got the 6-24x50 with IR and PX adjustment. In hindsite x24 is too much. looking back x12 would be enough for a 12 ft/lb airgun. Hop this helps, regards, Ian.
  24. There is no piont in leeting the pressure drop much below 100 bar anyway, as the drop in bullet path would be unusable. My 410 classic drops off at around this pressure. When mine gets chronoed it's filled to 180 bar. The sweet spot is at around 165 bar for approx 20-30 shots. I only have a pump and tend to keep it topped up when it gets to about 150 bar. Regards, Ian.
  25. Hi guys and girls, I'm after some advice on the ferret kits I've had for about 5 weeks. I have 2 gills and a hob that are litter siblings, and were born in April. How young, or old, can a hob be vasectomized? Is sooner better than later? What age is right to start them on small warrens? And finally does anyone ooop north have any 1 or 2 year olds for sale, to teach my kits how to go on? Thanks for any advice, Regards, Ian.
