  1. A Winchester 6500 it isn't. Absolutely.
  2. Well worth watching. Top bloke and shot.
  3. Stuart21 - for the life of me, I can't think why you need our opinion. You either justify it to yourself or don't do it. If you enjoy it, explain that to others. If you find yourself in difficulty explaining it to others - give up.
  4. I think a female instructor might well attract more women to have a go. I have seen a number of women shooting for the first time and put off by their other half. This ranges from impatience with their wife / girlfriend to letting them hold the butt away from their shoulder, so that they get a real thump in the shoulder. It might be a generalisation, which I don't particularly like, but men seem to offer genuine advice to other men, whilst taking the mickey out of or patronising female shooters. I am prepared for the rush of male shooters who cannot subscribe to that view. However, this is what I have observed at a fair number of grounds, over many years. I can see why many would be female shooters might assume a male instructor might of the same ilk.
  5. It was truly awful at the time and hasn't aged well.
  6. Thanks. It actually looks better in the flesh. It looks too shiny on a photo. I did one and said I would never do another, but having done this one, I could do the next in 1/4 of the time.
  7. You have pm. If you take Paypal, I will have it.
  8. Has the stock been shortened at some time? It appears to have spacers on it to extend it.
  9. Which type is it? The two separate posts or the oblong, with two posts? If it is the oblong type, what length is it? They do two lengths. Photo would be appreciated. Does the price include postage?
  10. I should add that both were on Browning / Mirokus. The dimensions would be the same on any gun. It needs to be at least 1" (at the point where the mechanism fits)to accommodate the mechanism
  11. I have done two adjustable combs, using Graco mechanisms. I used the longer oblong 425 version. I placed the cut at 1" depth and I used a scroll saw to cut the stock. I attached it to a flat board and used masking tape to keep it in place. This ensured it was cut at 90 degrees and kept a neat cut. I didn't use a jig - take it slowly - the walnut cuts steadily. A couple of things to watch. When you drill the 16mm holes in the comb itself - watch that you don't go too far and through the top. I drilled to a safe margin and used a Dremmell to complete the depth. When you countersink the mechanism in the stock, you may go through into the cavity housing the stock bolt, in about 1/4 of the area. It has never been a problem. I glued the mechanism in with epoxy rather than screws. I covered the two slots underneath with pvc electricians tape to ensure no glue entered the slots. Photo of finished job. It looks a bit bright - sorry - flash photography.
  12. Two skeet chokes still available - £30 for the pair - posted.
  13. I bought a job lot of shells yesterday. They were mainly Gamebore and Express trap shells, but included some I hadn't come across:- "Brit" Trap shells. "Perazzi Super Trap" shells. "Gamebore Universal Trench Competition" nickel shells. Anyone got any experience of any of these?
  14. Looks a decent gun. Shame you aren't nearer to Manchester. 250 round trip - just a bit too far.

  17. How very good of you to place an advert for your services. I think I will pass on getting a copy of your latest book.
  18. The most important lesson is safety. A gun can be lethal, so never point it at anyone. Point it at target when it is your turn or point it at the ground when loading. Assume it could go off at any time (when loaded) and you won't go far wrong. Good luck and welcome to shooting.

If you chop anything off the stock, you will wipe a considerable amount off the value of the gun. Resale will be a problem. Get the comb made adjustable, then you have all the adjustment you will ever need.
  20. Correct - Brydon is the new top jockey. I have complained to both of them. donald.brydon@royalmail.com
