You may think a pump action is the answer, but they are difficult to use properly. I have only ever seen one person who could shoot clays with one and he was a World Champion. For the price of the two pumps you cite, you could get a decent over and under. Cost of shooting 50 clays per week would be about £20 - for clays and shells.

Get a Suzuki SX4. About half the price and just as good - or SZ5 - better. A mate has a Nissan Qashqai and managed to break the little piece of plastic on the hatch - the one that holds the numberplate lights. Not that hard to fit, but £156 in bare plastic - needed spraying. Rear shockers are troublesome - it's the bushes, rather than the actual shock. Qashqais hold their price and they have sold a lot of them. Just not sure why - I suspect good advertising.

Best shooting vehicle for 17 year old??

You won't be able to insure a Freelander or the others. You need a reality check. -
Phil - I appreciate he shoots pigeons, but he also shoots clays. He uses maintained lead for all clays, which I believe is flawed. I was making the point that he needed to adapt to whatever he was shooting. Perhaps I could have made the point clearer - cheers.
-
You need a mixture of all styles. Maintained lead is fine - but what about rising targets, where the clay is beneath the barrels - using the maintained lead method. Maintained lead is not brilliant with battues.

I am not sure of how much overboring affects performance. What I have found is that overbored guns leave more residue in the barrel - just in front of the chambers. I have owned at least three where this was noticeable.

Go along - have a shoot and ask for advice. Shooters are about the most helpful bunch you will find.

Frenchieboy - I saw the Britannia Coconutters many times as a kid, growing up in the Rossendale Valley. I didn't realise you lived in Bacup. Did you ever shoot at the Deerplay - just a couple of miles up Burnley Road on the right, next to the pub?

A fine post - Mr Potter.

UK Poacher - I appreciate we deport a few, but they are a drop in the ocean. Best guess for "illegals" - 5 million. I challenge anyone to dispute the figure - you can't. I can't prove it either, but am reliably informed. Deporting to China is like plaiting sawdust - it can be done, but very, very difficult. I have no time for racism, but I do object to illegals - their first act in the country is breaking the law. Sadly, quite a few go on to commit further offences - some very serious. The prison population percentage of illegals is disproportionate to their alleged numbers.

I've almost booked there a few times, but ended up in St Ives - I love the place. I will get there one day.

Anyone want a shallow / single gun safe?
Gordon R replied to Steve_C's topic in General Shooting Matters
I would buy a cheapy and get local metalworks / fabricators to slice the back off and reposition to your required depth. It wouldn't take them many minutes. -
It would be quicker to phone him, as he is not online.

Try this one:- http://www.luckyardfarm.com/

On most guns:- 1 notch = Full 2 " = 3/4 or Improved Modified 3 " = 1/2 or Modified 4 " = 1/4 or Improved Cylinder

I will have it - you have PM. I have now bought the pad.

That isn't far from the actual truth.

rover - you are entitled to your view - I feel the same about you. I worry about people saying they would hit Policemen. I presume it doesn't bother you. Perhaps it is a sincere view that you respect. For the record - I don't. I detest racism. Feel free to sit on the sidelines and snipe.

Blaser F3 - Mike - I had forgotten that little gem about Sebastien Coe. :) PS - just bought a Blaser.
-
mushroom - any chance of a reply to the question I asked? I know it must be difficult - trolling and thinking - but have a go. Be a pal. I trust you don't have a shotgun or firearm certificate, because your anti-police posts and confrontational attitude would place them in jeopardy.

Coe has no answer to the question whatsoever. Whatever credibility he had - debatable - he has absolutely none now. I met him in the early 1990s at the opening of Saab Manchester - seemed a lad of principle. This is just how far he has sunk.
-
He has the spine of a jellyfish when it comes to representing shooting.
-
Cat - agree about doing little for us. Sebastien Coe has a lot to answer for. Hypocrite.

It wouldn't surprise me. Behind you !!!! Behind you !!!!!!!!!!!
