  1. Fair enough if you can group it well at that range and are getting clean kills but your getting into CF territory ask yourself would you shoot a fox at 200yards + with a .22lr as once the .17hmr reaches 200yards it starts leveling out with the .22lr and energy levels are pretty much the same. I'm not saying it cant be done and if you want to do it fine but why not just call them in 75yards and shoot them then.
  2. 150yard rabbits are no problem 200yards are still fine and over for rabbits if your capable but the little 17 grainer is running out of energy to be taking a fox at the range but up to 100-125 its plenty capable once hitting the right spot
  3. .243 sounds like a good comprimise good out to 1000yards and widely used fox gun so shouldnt be a problem with licensing
  4. Excellent stuff let us know how you get on!
  5. Mechanical semi's wont work well with light loads anything under 30g and wont eject properly certainly on new guns if you shoot alot of magnum loads out of it it should lighten up the bolt though . Whats wrong with the Beretta if its working i dont think your going to get a much better gun for under £600 your just getting a better looking gun.
  6. benelli super 90 has them as well little out of your budget though
  7. If he's got the instinct it he should retrieve prey with a little training to answer your question though no i have a boxer and she most certainly wont retrieve prey or anything for that matter infact she will sit there and stare you out of it until you feel like you should be the one retrieving
  8. Take a look at the ASE UTRA's Jackson's import them
  9. As was said 22/250 will shoot a good bit flatter and good to 400 yards more if you've the equipment range finders and solid rest and you know the tradjectory well. With a 75yard zero the bullet will only rise 1.5" and come back to zero at 250yards. Possibility of it becoming legal for deer or if your bringing it to scotland. .223 has the advantages of there being alot more people shooting it so alot better ammo choice cheaper and alot of guns chambered in it things like an ar15 if thats your fancy Both are excellent callibres i would favour the 22/250 as you can pick up a very good second hand gun for not very much and for hunting only ammo cost isnt a factor really and i like the tradjectory
  10. Means you can load from the breech without removing the mag and its for target shooting. I'll easily go through a box in a session and loading mags the whole time is annoying. With this you open the bolt drop a bullet in the mod ive bought for the mag will align it perfectly close the bolt and fire. Also slows you down going through them firing off 5 in a group. Ill post a pic of it up later.
  11. I'm with creiffy on this one i have Hawke match mounts which as far as i can remember are 9-11mm
  12. Pretty much any gun now adays will have sling swivel studs fitted and most are coming threaded as well. Olly i was very tempted to buy the ridge rockmount bipods ive had one before and could find nothing wrong with it worked very well i just find that everyone is buying the harris and it has to be that little bit better also it will hold its value as well. This is the sort of thing you buy once and you have it forever as it can be swapped from gun to gun in a few seconds so i dont think the extra 10-20 pounds is to much to pay
  13. I didnt end up selling it but im turning one into a single shot mag so i want two spare

    wanted

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hawke-Match-mounts-r...VQQcmdZViewItem Good solid mounts depends on your object sive though im using with a 40mm clears barrel and bolt but not a huge amount of room left
  15. When you guys say its the end of the season i take it theres no actual season you just leave them during spring to breed and give the young a chance..... ?? Around what time would you advise to start going after them again? BTW fantastic stuff FM would really like to try ferreting sometime just dont know anyone around me area that does it might buy the gear sometime just the collars putting me off at the mo maybe sometime when im in a better position regarding living arrangements money and free time.
  16. Nothing from Microsoft is free but there is an alternative called openoffice that is free which will read all microsofts files eg word doc excel and the likes Its a pretty good program and behaves for the most part like microsofts version http://www.openoffice.org/
  17. Theres no reason a longer barrel will be more accurate that a shorter one its down to rifling, uniform crown, chamber length/width and bullet combo's etc. what a longer barrel will do is given you a slightly longer range. There are alot of very accurate .22 pistols out there which should say something to you they just cant shoot at the same range as a rifle.
  18. Andys 100% right the bipod just catchs on the the swivel studs and is tightned up against the stock doesnt no damage and no modification is needed. A sling can still be attached with a bipod on as well I just bought a Harris model S L off opticswarehouse for 59 (69 if you have to pay vat) best price i could find ebay was a little cheaper but not much. i would go for the 9-13" also for prone i've no experience with the larger ones but i think the 6-9 is to short for prone and suited to bench shooting. I made a pair of homemade sticks before but they're just not as good or handy as the harris its right there when you need it no messin about either.
  19. Yeah i like the extra weight in the varmint makes it more solid and easy for off hand shots also think it looks better. I have the 16" barrel as well and there is minimal loss in preformance and it handles better with a mod on when its shorter
  20. works now what was it shot with? ive never heard a silenced .22

Yeah the Ireland match tomorrow will give a better picture of what to expect. Looks like its going to be tight france and england matchs today have been impressive think were in for some very good rugby with future matchs. Dont want to make any predictions though
