  1. Also, the Ascent is designed to pattern 50:50 unlike a lot of sporting guns which may be 60:40. It's naturally flat shooting which I find is ideal. Clearly it will shoot high if you see a lot of rib, but that's down to set up. Get a nice figure of 8 with the mid and front bead and it's nice and flat.
  2. I've had my Ascent for almost a year after trading my Impact for it. 32 inch barrels and rounded forend. It is awesome and I adore it. I'm tall and so a slightly head up shooting position works better for me. There must be something to it as all manufacturers are following suit with either adjustable ribs or mid ribs for sporting guns. Blaser are the most recent with the Vantage. As Mr P says above, gun fit is very personal, but In terms of the build quality and everything else, they are superb guns and I can't see me needing any more gun, ever. It's always going to better than me. As for the comments about marketing, well they are a business so it's unfair to knock them for doing that bit well. Good for them.
  3. Yes. They were fantastic! I used the 9s for the close stuff on a round of Sportrap and they were really good. Low recoil, clean, good breaks. Usual Fiocchi!! I'll be getting some more soon. Very impressed.
  4. I've shot thousands of FBlu through my Guerini and not had one misfire. I know people have had problems with Mirokus but the pins replaced usually sorts it. I prefer the FBlu to the FBlack but no science behind that. Good shell at a good price.
  5. I was 3rd in A when we left at 1pm, but I think there will be plenty higher by the end of the day. Enjoyed it today it was a good shoot.
  6. Vic shot a 59 which she was happy with as she shot the hard stuff well. Once she gets comfortable with attacking the easy stuff her scores will rocket. I ended on 84 and dropped a single target on each of 8 stands!!! Oh what could have been! I say that every week!!!
  7. Have you seen any scores yet Will? One thing to be thankful of is at least it didn't rain!!!
  8. I'm on my second one now. Originally a Summit Impact and now an Ascent. Loved them both and no problems with either. Really like the way the new one handles and feel my shooting has improved with it. Great guns and highly recommended.
  9. My brother shoots 682 gold E x Trap and only shoots sporting. He wouldn't change as it suits his shooting and he puts in good results with it. Maybe pattern it and see how it does, but don't get hung up on the results.
  10. It's all in the cartridges!!! She got a new PB at the single barrel DTL 24/25. She also got a 21 at ABT with a number of very distant 2nd barrel kills all with Golden Trap. Still surprises me at the hitting power of these, but with relatively little recoil. She's convinced though that they are best when the writing is the correct way up!! She always spends a second or 2 straightening them!
  11. Very well done to all and really proud of Victoria sticking with it and now starting to see results. Great coaching and great cartridges!
  12. I use Radar Range and have some dark lenses, pink ones for mid-light and some amber lenses for low light. I think the Ambers have vents which helps, a bit. They fit me well, they are robust and the lens quality is pretty good. Be careful though, all mine are scratched and I consider myself pretty careful. Not bad enough to be distracting, but when you look carefully you can see them. I'd recommend them and you can pick them up at lots of places.
  13. Useless mail order. Always out of stock, but don't tell you until after you have paid!
  14. Loving my Summit Impact. Tried all sorts and nothing feels as good to me. Seems as well made as Berettas and Brownings I have owned, but I'm not an engineer. If I were to change, it would be for another Guerini.
  15. I use 2x Muller U2s for sporting and patterned them a couple of weeks ago. I shoot Sporting. In my opinion they are probably a little too tight for my liking. I know a few people who use Mullers for Sporting and use U1s. I will be ordering a couple of U1s. They are very well made and they are light and don't work loose. Highly recommended but probably tighter than you think.
  16. Not me, but I shoot a Summit Impact with Muller chokes. Ask away!
  17. I thought you could interchange barrels on a Blaser F3 too? Maybe an F3 owner can confirm.
  18. I shoot a Caesar Guerini Impact adjustable rib thing and am mulling a change at the moment. Shot a DT10 a few weeks ago and really liked it. It felt a lot easier to manoeuvre than my gun and it just felt good, but.......a couple of weeks ago I shot a Perazzi MX12 and I was honestly shocked at just how good it was. It was beautifully made and very understated, but for me the way it shot was lovely. Smooth and steady on crossers but really fast to move between simo pairs. I intend to shoot a Blaser F3 again before committing to anything and then sell an organ to fund whatever I choose. The other thing I would say is that list on an MX12 is about £7500 which is only a couple of grand more than a DT11 and less than a K80. Obviously very expensive but cheaper than I thought if that makes sense!
  19. Totally agree. Brian is an excellent coach and very patient. Really knows his stuff and is a thoroughly decent bloke. He can shoot a bit too!
  20. Have to agree really. There were too many close in birds although the variety of them was okay. Absolutely not enough refs and we also had one ref running between traps. It was really muddy but with all the rain we have had I guess that was to be expected. It was my first time at Beverley and even with the things mentioned above, I enjoyed it to be honest. A few longer birds and greater use of the open land outside of the woods and it would have been excellent. If they hold more sporting comps I will go again. Ocean.
