    Leupold 3x9x50

I have a Leupold VX1 in 3x9x50 complete with mounts in brand new condition, only been out once on my HMR but cant get on with it, just not enough mag in my opinion for the HMR, would be ideal on a .22lr or FAC air, clarity is spot on as you would expect from a Leupold, only bought last week and comes with lifetime warranty, bargain 200 quid + a tenner insured postage. P.S before anyone asks for photos just google it as its basically a new scope, has price tag on box 349 quid.

if your mate was told FAC air that will be because thats all the land is suitable for, if you joined sweethill i believe you would have to do some kind of probation period with them before they allow you to apply for FAC and then you would most likely get a closed ticket (ie only shoot on sweethill land), you'd be better applying with your own permission even if you do only get FAC air, its a start and when you get somewhere suitable for larger calibres its only a variation to put in.
  3. The clues in the name Hornady Magnum Rimfire
  4. Size of land has no bearing on FAC grant, its all about back stops and safe shooting, i wouldnt bother with a .22lr as paddocks are usually flat with not many safe back stops, they also ricochet alot which isnt very good with horses about, just brush up on your stalking skills or wait for a day when the wind is in your favour and build a little hide 35 yards from the warren and wait, just keep at em till winter then ferret them.
  5. Sounds like a plan fella, the genesis is a good scope
  6. New it was a mistake selling the Viper
  7. Hi Bob, only been out with it once and it was pretty good, could see 100 yards easy to shoot rabbits, could easy pick sheep out at 200 yards (not to shoot) but just changed scopes so need to make another adapter. Got an mp4 player to record with, just need to get out with it been doing a bit of messing with the iscope software for recording in the day.
  8. Went over to have an hour or two with Tex yesterday teatime when it cooled down a bit with the HMR, dont know if its the hot weather but there didnt seem that many about and mostly the ones we saw where young, it was the first time out since changing scopes and i think i may be regretting getting rid of the Viper i had on it, sold it and bought a Leupold VX1 in 3 x 9 x 50 which i though would be better suited to the HMR but im having second thoughts now, dont get me wrong the Leupold is a great scope and clarity is better than the Viper up to about 70 yards then after that i think the Viper was better, although 6 x 24 x 56 was too much for the HMR as i rarely used more than 14 - 16 mag i just think 3 x 9 isnt enough for 100 yard head shots, it would be better suited to a 22lr or FAC air in my opinion, the jury is out on this, maybe i just need to get used to it, off to America soon so may have a look whats available over there if the dollars good, anyway had an enjoyable 2 hours and managed 9 bunnies. Cheers Tex, roll on harvest

Was in NPPC year before last and found it ok, John is a top bloke to deal with and helpful, if you have nowhere to shoot or dont have time to go door knocking its ideal but as stated find out what fields are near you then keep an eye on them for pigeon activity and try to shoot in the week as weekends can be busy, i never shot weekends but always managed to get on the fields i wanted to in the week, for the money its well worth it but i think its the wrong time of year to join as you can only shoot till harvest, once the stubble has gone thats it till they drill again, best bet is join when the winter rape goes in then you get right through to harvest in the summer to shoot.
  10. Go with what you want fella, you will only get it in the end if thats your dream gun, get it proffesionally fitted while your at it, cant see what all the critisism is about, we all go out to work to have the things we want dont we, quility costs money, theres no pockets in shrouds.
  11. Youve got to be quick fella
  12. It was fitted to my HMR Do you want it as you have gone off line and sent no message to confirm or pay ??
  13. For sale is my MTC Viper scope, its a 6 x 24 x 56, it has the SCB illuminated reticle, excellent condition with no marks or damage, comes with mounts, sunshade, flip up covers and cover, boxed, it was new about 8 months ago, only selling as upgraded to a Leupold, 150 pound posted to your door.
  14. Went over to have a couple of hours shooting with Tex with the HMR and also to try the nightvision set up i have made, plenty about as usual but only looked at 3 fields as time was knocking on, Tex actually had a few shots for a change (he even posed for a photo) and we managed 10 from the 3 fields before it got dark, then set the homemade nightvision up to see what it was like, it is pretty much the same as Evo's off here, in fact the bullet camera i used was from him (thanks Evo), the clarity was spot on up to about 100 yards which for the HMR is spot on, we could easy pick rabbits up out to maybe 120 - 130 yards but after that all you could pick up was shining eyes but i wouldnt normally shoot at rabbits past 100 - 120 yards anyway never mind at night, I recon it would pick a fox up at 150 yards and beyond easy as we were looking at sheep past that distance and could easily id them, shot another 4 rabbits using the nightvision, the furthest was over 100 yards and the closest was about 40 yards and was like looking at it in the day so all in all pretty pleased with it, just need to do some tweaking to tidy the cables up and im waiting for an MP4 player to use as a screen so i can record as well, will put some pics and vids on when im sorted. Cheers Tex

    rabbits

Well shot fella, sounds like it will be a good night Wednesday then, especially now i can see in the dark.
  16. That blokes usually at every clay shoot, i think its men who are henpecked and down trodden at home and feel the need to unleash there vast experience on the unsuspecting novice, best to watch him shoot first before accepting advice.
  17. AA dont sell Hypaflaps as far as i know, Uk shootwarehouse sell them 40 quid a pair i think
  18. i wouldnt bother with the foam ones, spend a bit more and get hypaflaps, as for the battery i think you will struggle to get 5 hours from a 7ah with real birds.

  20. Been messing with the iscope app on the iphone coupled up to a homemade mount to the scope, must say its really good for 69 pence, footage isnt great but as a first attempt its not bad, think i had the scope zoomed in too much to start with so it seems like it was closer than it was, the footage was from about 70 yards away, the second shot was unbelievable, there was only a pair of ears left on inspection, the ballistic tip had done its job.
  21. Rimfire majic (south yorkshire shooting supplies) - 12 quid and about 15 minutes to fit, i got one for my 455 but does the 452 also, you get 3 springs, i used the middle one so still have the soft and hard options if you want them with instructions i will post them you but for 12 quid you may as well get the full kit as you will most likely fit the middle spring like everyone else.
