Marty , my MIL did same last week ( 86) , recovering in hospital ( had op day after admitted ) , they will tell you of the risks involved , hope she is ok .

Shot a few bulls and had the choice of 12g slug or .458WM and used the rifle each time as I was more confident delivering the round in the right spot at distances up to 50 yds which was very effective .

What about all the ex forces ones who end up in armed response units then ? , if that is the that forces concern they wont have any ex military as AFO's as they may be more likely to pull the trigger ? Must admit I have been to many ranges ( police/military/civilian ) over the years and if I looked could find holes outside of the target area .

Just to clarify what do you mean by drop out , are you saying the firearms officers were handing their authorities in after experiencing shooting live animals and where did this information come from ?

I have had 4 since 2001 , 3 FL 1's and just got a 2010 FL2 ( 150 bhp ) after a couple of yrs with a Kuga , all have been Diesel and never had a prob apart from a new clutch in the 2001 TD4 ( under warranty ) . Coped very well with the bad winters here 09/10 .

Would have expected them to have something a bit bigger than .223 Tony , maybe thats the difficulty ?

Any one know what calibre Lincs use for animal destruction ? , just wondering , not always easy to take a head shot with escaped animals .

Find mine comfy to wear , warm but becomes very sweaty after a couple of miles walking , would not buy again .

Some once told me if you can shoot ok at Diggle then you can shoot anywhere , think they were referring to the environment , hope the road up is better than when I used to go there 76-2001 , all in all good rifle facilities .

You near Worsborough then ? , my dad worked at Barrow Colliery ( not on face ) and I walked through coking plant every morning to catch the bus to school , we lived in Blacker Hill . Always remember the pitmen walking past our house to an from clocking on with their snap tins .

Thanks for that link , good to see the photo's , looks very much like that Mountain/Rowan Ash , I will have a closer look at the buds next time I go down.

Not looking to buy as got a Freelander but as a matter of interest did you manage to use the tyres in snow/ice and how did they perform ? , been thinking of set of winter tyres . Thanks

TBH I thought it was Birch , but some fella at the club said it was Ash , however posters favour Cherry .

Its about 40 foot and these came from one of the big branches that was hanging over the nets .
