  1. Complete cull plans for Fallow and Munty on one estate and CWD on another, shoot a Norfolk Red which will complete the set, get nice representative heads of all the species for the new man cave, finish building said man cave. Take each of my boys duck shooting, game shooting and for an evening in a high seat when the weather warms up, going to be a busy year.

    Laptop advice

Moved completely to Mac at work, wouldn't go back, if you want to use it at a desk as well worth looking at a Thunderbolt Display. I needed to be able to operate Windows Software as well so went for Parallels on it, works well and allows you to operate both systems at once
  3. That's why I dropped out of the clubs on the wash, remember when I used to go 20 years ago in the week probably one other, then it became to many folks dropping an occasional a long range one so their mates thought they would have a go, it just got worse year on year, that and having to get there 2 hours before flight and sit in the dark, just to get a place.

As I have repeatedly said DNT, I have never objected to others buying shares, just a club with 500 members buying what has previously only excercised by individuals, so you will not allow more than 6 flights a season for each of your quarter shares and not allow them to shoot on the same day? This would then prevent additional pressure on the site etc, you seem to skirt round that issue, mine was not a case of only having my interest at heart I think I have already said that numerous times, also thank you for confirming that you would have taken the rights whether they were BASC affiliated clubs or not, I hope all club secretaries and chairmen in UK wildfowling clubs are now sitting up and listening, as you have said you will take their shooting if you do not like the way they run their club, "and have an open mind", to finally add why should a club be forced to join BASC? Last time I looked I believed we lived in a democracy not to be dictated to by those who think they know better and say we should all be BASC members, it's called choice I believe. Yes I am a BASC member but it's through choice not being told by someone else that I have to be.

Thank you for your clarification of the position of the east coast sporting ltd and Kent Wildfowlers etc, my "gripe" as you put it has never been that of the legal position of doing what the kwca have done it's always been the moral one, you have forced your club onto ground which currently has two clubs shooting the ground, would kwca have done this if they were BASC affiliated? through using a legal not moral right. I will declare my interest in that I have a share, I don't live in the village I live within 30 mins of the marsh, anyone could have bought rights, in the same way I did, I shoot the marsh usually 6 times a season, I am one individual suddenly you now have a club with control of 2 1/4 shares, which will be accessed by 500 members so I suspect Kwca will excercise thier rights a lot more than I an individual. How can this be good for the wildlife of the site and a reasonable sustainable usage? As for you sight of loads of transfers, I have seen 3 since you bought your first set and 2 of them have been yours, and as for the transfer to someone in Australia, you forgot to mention that it was under the will in 1977 for the husband and subsequent will for the wife in January 2014 transfer, and the Australian gentleman has the same family name, as the two deceased and the other recipient is a female living local so it's fair to assume a son and daughter inherited their fathers rights, so please don't **** up my back and tell me it's raining.

If you look back through my posts DNT you will see why I have a problem with these going from an individual to a club, I do not feel the need to repeat them as my reasons have not changed. I still believe in doing what they have the Kent Wildfowlers Association is morally and ethically corrupt, the persuit of further rights, has only strengthened my views, and their actions should cause a great deal of concern to other clubs throughout England and Wales, no shooting rights can be seen as safe as both Brancaster and Burnham club have/are finding out no doubt.

So the takeover of another clubs shooting by Kent Wildfowlers continues, today notification issued by Norfolk County Council, East Coast Sporting Ltd are requesting the transfer of a quarter share of the same right as held by the wild spaces fund, both have common registered address, and common directors according to companies house, but East Coast Sporting was incorporated January 2014. Not happy with taking the first quarter share it seems it's free game to buy more to take over the shooting from another club, where will it end when you have to be a member of Kent Wildfowlers to go in England, it appears they will stop at nothing
  9. very quiet Tony, I shoot from one end to the other, but a house build has severely limited the days out this season.
  10. Best morning for me 7 drake pochard on the washes normally get a few each year, two guests have had ringed ones, once had a drake of every English species of duck in 15 days, and not long back from getting my drake Scaup in Northern Ireland just Whitefront, Black Cock, Sika and Red deer left. A mate and I had a species challenge last year I won 34 species to 33, it's surprising how many species we are lucky enough to hunt in the UK, he now has to buy dinner for me and my wife with wine of my choice at a restaurant anywhere in the uk, it was great fun and I would recommend it to anyone.
  11. People who feel the quality of their day is based on the number of birds they have shot, guns who pillow case birds, guns who don't speak or say thanks to the beaters and pickers up at the end of the day.

Good for your club Bob, at least they will have the shooting they once had, on the plus side they are not paying the rumoured £15k a year for it
  13. Jono 4

    Brancaster

Surely the best way Bob would be for a Thornham common rights holder to vest their right in the original local club? Kent have proved its legal with their actions at Brancaster, moral no but Legal yes, after all what's good for the goose, would like to see the cattle gate right holders make a prosecution, after all they offered the lease not Mr Betts. DNT you may have been offered rights on CL65, but you could always have said no from a moral perspective, now your actions have opened up the can of worms whereby more clubs are looking at buying rights, thus further increasing the numbers shooting the marsh, the cl65 rights were never intended to add another club, kent Wildfowlers will shoot the marsh I suspect more times in a season than I have in the last 9, approximately 65 flights

So your basically saying that Brancaster and Thornham are not well managed clubs in your opinion so are fair game? Please tell me why you have the power to make that judgement and I know one of the clubs and the land deal you are talking about, more a case of they didn't see the point in bidding against Kent, not that I see why any club should ask Kents permission to bid, seems like complete bullying tactics by Kent to me. Would Kent be the same club who told my shooting partner and me to keep our money as they were having some shooting we had, but they would chuck some crumbs and we could be ticket officers, the only problem was the seller couldn't lay straight in bed at night so the deal never happened and we still shoot the land after the threat of police involvement.
  15. Mat your welcome to come and look at my boat, only at TSC and shoot the washes 2/3 days a week come December and January

At least two other clubs are now looking at buying rights Terry, no doubt taking the view if it's good enough for kent it's good enough for us, so now add more people to the site, as you say a step to far this time, generally I have always congratulated Kent on their land purchases, however the back door tactics used at Brancaster have certainly made me think again with my views they are a forward thinking club, to one where they are a greedy underhand club who would force themselves on to any Wildfowling site, irrespective of the consequences an who it affects.

    Brancaster

I am not and never have been a member of Thornham Wildfowlers, never even shot the ground, so I have not lost any shooting, my comments are purely from a moral perspective. Kent Wildfowlers seem to have to justify their actions by the crusade to save wildfowling and ground that would be lost, with Brancaster this was not a threat, yet the club chose to follow the course it did using the same justifications. Personally I am happy to negotiate with NE for consent to shoot and have done so gaining consent to wildfowl on previously unconsented SSI RMSAR etc ground I own in the middle of a large bird reserve, with no issues, but then I am not wanting to issue 3 permits a day 6 days a week, or 18 permits a week for nearly 26 weeks a year.

    Brancaster

I am not sure Anser2 has such powers as to influence the club and it's agent, more likely the action you have taken. You mention Thornham had been lost, but we only have kent Wildfowlers word for that, is that your justification for taking the land from another club?now your actions at Brancaster, if you want to be involved at a local level, then why continue on the course kent Wildfowlers has chosen, there were 100 objections to the transfer of common rights, never in the time I have held rights have there been that many objections, as yokels I am sure neither anser2 or I could rustle up that level of resentment, quite simply with that level of objection your "taking an interest in the area" , is neither wanted or required, what's next claiming a place on the common rights committee? Forcing your views that you are our saviours as you know far better than the local people on the ground? As said previously a very sad day for Wildfowling.

Thanks Boyd, I think, yes I know the story, terrible course of action, especially when it followed nothing but kindness.......

So why if Kent manage Thornham so well and have a really good working relationship with NE, for the greater good of all their members, have NE reduced the consent to shoot to three days a week, I suspect mainly due to shooting pressure. If Kent Widfowlers are so much better at the management, how did Thornham Club had the shooting unrestricted for 6 days a week,NE were comfortable with the club due to the low levels of shooting pressure, I know that bags taken by guns have reduced over the past 3 season and the pinks have largly left the roost. How can the take over be seen to be beneficial to the wildlife of the North Norfolk coast if NE see fit to enforce a reduction in shooting pressure to 3 days a week, it was not done on a voluntary basis by the club. You may have saved Thornham Marsh, in your clubs opinion, but that is just it its an opinion, those of us who live locally may not have the same opinion, which we are also entitled to. If Kent Wildfowlers are so protective of the wildfowl and right to fowl why take the shooting on a piece of ground where it was not threatened, two clubs are happily managing the shooting with the blessing of NE, working with them to shoot on a unrestricted basis, how long will that last based on NE's experience of the goings on at Thornham? as you have said you will only work with the clubs if they do things your way, now that smacks of a large club bullying two smaller ones. Also strange that when I shot in Kent last year I heard a rumour that the club were very close to securing more shooting on the North Norfolk coast, looks like we are all aware that the Club had been working hard for nearly a year on securing the shooting held by other clubs. Whats next for Kent, Kings Lynn or Fenland lease, or straight to the golden goose of Wells, what a great jewel in the Kent Crown? So this is an improvement for all concerned and Kent Wildfowlers are the great saviours of all of us Yokels who surely will want to be a member of a super club? Not really for me sooner do my own thing, not be dictated to booking tickets even if the best marshes are available, told what days I can shoot, goes against the spirit of wildfowling, yes I do have a vested interest in Brancaster I am common rights holder, I am a local, and wouldn't say things have improved for the wildfowlers or more importantly the wildlife with the arrival of our saviours from Kent, but then that just an opinion and whilst I am not a member of our saviour super club I am entitled to it.

A very sad day for wildfowling, 100 objections to kent Wildfowlers taking a share of the common rights through the back door I.e. Their charity The Wild Spaces Fund, never has a transfer received so many objections. was this land to be lost to wildfowling no, was the lease on the open market no, there are two sucessful clubs managing the shooting in the area, this has nothing to do with preserving wildfowling as it was not in danger on the site, it is greed pure and simple wanting what someone else has and taking it by any means. A very sad day indeed, when Wildfowlers would take from one and other what hope is their, it's just greed pure and simple, let's hope their selfish actions won't lead to restrictions being placed on all of us who shoot that part of the coast.

You may want to check these facts, probably best ask AJ as he shot it a few times and wrote about it in one of his books as a guest shooting his record bag, the invites stopped when he tried to lease the mud around the island and cut the duck off going to the island....

Bob the wild spaces fund is set up and run by Kent Wildfowlers, I suspect with common trustees, if they were not being underhand with the potential purchase why buy it through their charity? Not in the name of the club. They have 6 of their own reserves in Kent and on the Meadway the purchase of the common rights can not be to create another one in Norfolk, so why try to make it?
