Like Q, I also believe it is illegal to use any tapes or digital recordings to call birds within the UK. I know for a fact that wildfowl cannot be called using this type of equipment.

Probably jumping the gun, I set a bale hide on a 5 acre sprout field this morning. If the snow comes then I know from past experience that this field will be on the menu.

I appreciate that there is nothing like good wood shooting. But may I suggest you intercept the birds on a good flightline to the wood rather than shoot the wood. Firstly this will preserve the roost, overshooting will move them some where else. Secondly, intercepting birds is far easy and will for the majority of times produce bigger bags than shooting the wood itself. Wait for a 35mph+ wind, be light and move with the birds, as you will be dictated by wind direction.

Just be careful YP, if you go around to her house she might misunderstand your reasons for your visit and could see it as intimidation or harassment.

When I was a young one, I watched my dad take 2 birds with his first shot and take a 3rd with his second. I have only managed taking two in a tree for one shot. DA, are your birds joined at the hip?

Hi Ollie Couple of days ago, I took 27 woodies for 36 cases over my paddocks as they made their way home in strong winds (managed 3 L + R). One unlucky crow found lead as well.
