  1. Change people's attitude by educating them. Only through education can you ever expect to change anybody's viewpoint. If people eat meat, they should sure as hell be forced to learn the process of land management - otherwise it's the darkest form of hypocrisy I can imagine.
  2. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's brutal. How did you shoot yourself in the foot? You said not to ask, but you can't tell us you shot yourself in the shot, with a photo to prove it, and expect noone to ask
  3. I was out last night for rabbits and checked a rape field, looked exactly the same as that. It had me puzzled. Didn't see any eyes so moved on to the next field without investigating. The whole field looked as though it had snow on it! Edit: Nice shooting
  4. Is there somewhere among the firearm guide lines that says all shots must be taken with due care and attention and common used at all times?
  5. My partner has studied law in France and in England and she says that the difficulty with our laws (when compared to others, such as French) is that they are written in such a way so that they can be interpreted by the individual. She says that the outcome of so many cases can be determined by the mood of the judge on that day. How many times have we seen that occur? Murderers given a 10 year sentence and out in 5 years for good behaviour. Put a good case forward as to what the average, reasonable person would do and it is possible the case may be granted in your favour.
  6. Right so just come off phone with Admiral and for 25dci navara on 08 plate it's gunna be about £700. Fairly happy with that so now gotta keep my eyes open for the right vehicle. Its odd 'cos I'm with admiral atm and everytime I got a quote online they were saying £1400!!
  7. Gunna try that, thanks. Though I've only been a named driver on the van through company insurance (named as oppose to "any driver"). Nothing wrong at all with the CRV, but it's not mine. If I go cheaper I think it'll be a 3 door Vitara, if I decide to spend more I'm going for a pick up. I like the older L200, 05/06 years but not keen on the new ones, what is it doing at the back? Can see myself going for a Navara. Just test driven a Steed by The Great Wall. There was a funny "scraping" noise when you accelarate. Turns out it's the exhaust resonating which happened when they were imported and had to meet Euro NCAP standards, the bloke told me there's nothing can be done. Think I'll be avoiding that one.
  8. Cheers. I thought Land Rovers are abit notorious for reliability. My friend has a Freelander and it's cost him so much in the 8 months he's owned it. Gf's parents have an 08 Discovery, lovely to drive but my God it's expensive to fix.
  9. The one that comes out on top is Gladiator. To get the best quote i've used confused.com and compare the market, both for van insurance (if i try to get a car insurance quote it doesnt recognise the vehicle?) Cheers guys you're helping massively
  10. In honesty I've no idea, it's cheaper to insure a Type R! Pulling my pants down. I'm 25 so that might be why. Never crashed but 0 no claims bonus on vans even though I've driven the company van for the last 4 years without incident. If the insurance wasn't so high I'd buy a twin cab tomorrow. I'm happy with insurance being £700 or just over but no more. I do quite like them. Just a 1.8 Almost the same a Ferrari I've access to a CRV atm I currently borrow when I want to go shooting but there's no low range and whilst it's ok, I'd prefer either a) lighter with the ability to switch between 2 and 4 wheel drive or b) a bit more off roading capabilities...such as a ******* pick up which I can't afford to insure at the age of 25! my gfs brother has a 09 ford thunder...its stunning, 2.5 td and hes only paying £750 and hes a year younger!!
  11. When I had my .22lr I enquired about what you need to do for a .243 and the lady was really helpful and said stick with a .22 for now until I have some stalking experience. I thought that meant a .22LR, not 22-250 or 223 so I stuck with rimfire, making the variation for the hmr and wmr as I was undecided. Only after I'd made the variation I found out I could probably have gone for a 22-250 or 223 straight off. Seems like a good price babs, I paid over £400 for my 455 hmr.
  12. Been looking around recently and struggling to find the ideal 4x4. The must haves: -4x4 -rear seats -have decent reliability -not too high tax band - just looked at an old freelander, £475 a year to tax! My budget is about 11k which would get me a lovely pick up but as they're classed as vans the insurance for me is extortionate and I'm not interested in any other 4x4 for that kind of money. So I'm thinking of something around the 3-6k mark...? Under 60,000 miles if possible that scores well on reliability, I'm fairly good with cars but don't want to spend all my time on my back in the cold in the middle of winter. I can't get away with a Defender, i'd get called a poser and don't want anything quite as small as a Jimny. Freelanders are all high mileage at that price and if paying more want something a bit bigger. Anybody know of anything?
  13. It's ok, 99.9% of the time it's a great job
  14. A lot of people will not read this to it's fullest content and I don't really think that " a safe shot over a public road" are words that should be written down on a public forum. But that's just my opinion and my opinion alone and don't really wanna argue about it.
  15. I don't know the law inside out, but it sounds like some of you guys do. From what you've all said, it does sound like it could be interpreted that you could actually shoot over a road, as long as the bullet lands on ground you have permission for. Now obviously, anyone in their right wouldn't do this. But on the off chance that someone did, and they were caught - but noone was injured and the bullet landed within your boundaries, what would the court outcome be? The thought of someone shooting over a road scares the bejesus out of me!
  16. Jesus that's terrifying! Certainly going to be handling my HMR with trepidation for a long while. Did one round cause all the rounds that were remaining in the mag to explode as well or were they intact?
  17. Roughest club in the North West. That would mean there are fights, daily. Even in the friendliest clubs, there are fights. And you enjoyed it? Which bit?
  18. I definitely agree you need more skill with a .22. The .22 was my first gun but in honesty it knocked my confidence a little. It was the ricochets, impossible to guarantee they won't occur and every time I pulled the trigger I always had that niggle. That said, if I could afford a NV, I could see my LR being used a lot more. As it is, I prefer my .17. Much easier to "point and shoot" - day or night. It looks beautiful with the thumbhole stock (CZ 455) but you could get that in .22 anyway. In addition, I do want to (eventually) get into deer stalking. I have the land suitable for fox and deer shooting so my next variation will be for either a 22-250 or a 223 for the foxes. From there I want to get some deer stalking experience and finally make the variation for a 243 or larger so I can stalk on my own. The logical process IMO is to steadily increase the size of the cal. i'm using and to show the police that I haven't just gone straight in at the deep end and have slowly increased my experience on various rifles and animals. Man shooting is expensive.
  19. ahahaha...might have created a sort of storage compartment within your nose - help get it passed the door staff.
  20. Ok, taken on board and will rethink and aim to screw into the block. Thank you Bungalow so no beams in the floor of my bedroom.
  21. If you can only afford one, .17
  22. People just rock up and shoot the geese??
  23. Wood's less expensive than coal, cleaner to. Doesn't burn so hot but doesn't need to in a log burner.
  24. I thought doormen were there to chat up scantily clad lasses?
