can you give us any more details on the 17 week pup
some people just are not prepared , and think a bit of chewing is the end of the world , at 17 weeks old its probably just being a puppy.
looking at some of the free ads i cant beleave how some folks can get shut of a pup , or even older loyal dog that easy
give them a call and ask why they want to pass it on
-
right -- well my dogs name is maize , but on the KC paper shes called Holly Jazz , shes out of a Squareclose bitch
what sort of thing could i add to her name and how do you go about it
thanks mate
-
they are cracking looking dogs , i just hope when spring comes shes had enough and i,d gladley take one off her hands . such a shame there not going to be worked
-
i,ll second that edward martins videos are the tops also like the drakeshead ones but again not cheap unless you can get copy's
-
we live in a bungalow and often my spaniel disapears only to be found tucked up in one of the beds

i was wondering , can the names that are given by the KC when you register a pup ever be changed to something more meaningful or are you stuck with the chosen name
and where do they get these names from , some are just c**p.
also how is it that some dogs carry the breed line name in there official title , is this only acceptable if the dog/bitch is a direct desendant from that particular kennel
thanks

sad news mate
stay strong and remember the good times
RIP poppy
-
thanks for that , they look great for the money.
i wonder if i would need a L or XL , about 50 inch across chest
-
Dont worry about it...There only £39 new...
where from mate , i want one
-
would you take a tenner posted for number 9
-
where abouts mate , do you have anymore details
-
do you have any pics of them ?
-
yes mate everything your doing sounds ok to me
for less than £200 they look bargains , but you never know
if your going to beat with it a docked tail is much better IMO , otherwise it does,nt really matter
re- tracable parentage -- very important if your spending a lot of money , or you think you may want to breed from it , or you want it as proof of FTCH etc otherwise it means nothing .
if its from working stock its got a good chance as long as you do right by it.
some of the best dogs i,ve seen are often keeper bred , proper working parents but no KC...
you'll have to talk to the sellers etc and ask them for as much info as poss , remembering that not everyone tells the whole truth
its something only you can decide
-
e-mail / contact the KC , with as much info as possible , (as i did when tracing the ped ) and hopefully they will get back to you with some good news took about 3 days
worth a try

Hi,
I own a cracking 7 year old springer called Ollie - who came from a litter raised by the underkeeper at Badminton Estate
Good hunter, good wildfowler, picking up, rough shooter etc etc
But, and this is the crunch for most, he didn't come with papers.
He's a cracking pet, soft-natured and as gentle as it is to be around (small) kids... zero health problems to date.
The KC took a pasting last year over their breeding practices and recommendations and I'm irritated that a) the breed standard for ESS are so removed from the dogs doing that role in the field -ie he's from working stock.
But thats an aside and what really gets my goat and what this post is about is b ) Why should he have to have flipping papers in order to pass on some excellent genes?!
Anyhoo - as his boss I really want to do right by him and put him over a similar bitch for the pick of the litter
If there is anyone out there (ideally within a trip of Bristol) with similar problems or an unregistered good-working bitch then get in touch.
The pups would be marvellous
Jon
jono - your dog looks a cracker mate , if my bitch was a little older i,d be very tempted
hope some one takes up your offer
good luck
-
any of the from working stock , any been docked and dewed
if your willing to put the time in mate , then any would be worth a go, but if there was working stock in the pedigree , it might just be a little easier
good luck
-
cheers lads , i,m going to try both
shes not naturally aggresive , i think maybe more worried or anxious , as when she barks her fur goes up but she often backs away as well to me or the back door
-
my young springer 14 month , is coming on well , she,s been out rough shooting and a bit of beating so far .
the problem i,m having is not directly to do with training but aggression.
this last week she as been barking if she hears the neighbour in the garden , or see's them through the edge etc , then runs back to the house looking a bit worried etc.
this i dont really mind as i think she just doing the dog territory thing .
anyway this last 2 days we,ve been out and every time she comes across new people ie while out walking the fields or wood , her furs go up and she starts to bark and growl , she even ran towards a young couple whilst barking but came straight back on the recall, now this i dont want as a few of them had little kids out with mum etc .
i think shes just a bit unsure or worried and not normally aggressive at all in fact shes a total wimp usually , but i would say shes been fairly well socalised around my friends and family .
i,m not sure how to tackle this , and i want to nip it in the bud quick , so far i have made her sit and tapped her across the nose and said a sharp NO every time she growls until the person as passed then i let her walk on .
whats the correct thing to do to prevent this becoming a problem.
thanks

interesting to know how and where you shot them , and with what .
not saying its right or wrong , i love goose shooting and if i go home with 1 , 2 or 3 at the most i,m chuffed plus canada's are a hard goose to prep and not the best of tastes imo.
just seems like s few too many to want to brag about it .

looking at NGO and SACS
which ones better .
NGO is well known but does,nt give much in the way of cover , plus i,m not a gamekeeper does that count
SACS reads good on there website , ie . cover for all shooting , beating , hunt following etc all things i do , but not many people have heard of them and there website is so incomplete its a joke to say they,ve been going since 1994.
both are the same price.
the thing is about insurance is that you hope to god that you'll never use it , so which one should i go for .
cheers
ps. i,m also looking on SACS website for a phone number , but cant see one anywhere
