  1. Please could you post a picture if still available?
  2. In the future if crops that are unattractive to pigeons are developed, will that be the end of the majority pigeon shooting?
  3. Well done pal, sounds like a very fun day.
  4. I think it's fairly common to see a clause to keep the property in a good, clean and tenantable state so as not to cause damage or injury to the property. Imagine if this flat was in a new block of services apartments, you wouldn't want smells, possible fire risks, risk of rodents ect in the building. Not that the landlord would necessarily inspect but it gives recourse if there is a problem such as those I mentioned above.
  5. High tree tops, good wind, under a 4.1 ratio. Must have been fantastic sport, don't be too hard on yourself! Well done for sticking with it and finding some.
  6. Really enjoy your videos , thanks for posting.
  7. A touching and sad story. Good on you.
  8. I shot goose, duck, pheasant, partridge and pigeon on my penultimate day of the season. I also missed a woodcock.
  9. Well done guys! Haha poor Lloydie has had some stick recently! Sounds great.
  10. I left them in the boot over night at -5 and there were no issues! Thanks for the advice.
  11. Haha very good! There wasn't much wind but luckily the fog held off. Glad you both got back safely. Cracking couple of days!
  12. Great write ups mate, well done. Really enjoy reading them as always and looking forward to seeing all the pics from our day on Tues!
  13. The fog became very heavy just after we finished our soup and I was on the way home, the drive took longer than it should have as a result.
  14. Jdog kindly invited me to shoot some pigeons the day after the PW shoot on Wednesday. On Monday evening Jdog briefly disappeared from the pre-shoot dinner. He returned having received information as to the whereabouts of some pigeons while in the gents toilet talking to a farmer I woke up yesterday with a slightly sore head following the shoot to find my car wouldn't start, naturally I took the manly approach and called the AA, ordering a Full English in my hotel while awaiting rescue. Alas, when I phoned Jdog to tell him I would be late he informed me my situation was not nearly grave enough to delay pigeon shooting and that he would be on his way down to jump start my car immediately. I am happy to say he was right and it was only the battery. We arrived and saw a good amount of pigeons flighting between two sets of woods, some stopping on the rape between them. There wasn't much wind but we did both get the chance to snap shoot a couple of nice birds each. We finished the day with about half a dozen all efficiently retrieved by Jdog's dog Jasper. I found it very difficult to shoot through trees preferring to position myself under a small gap in the canopy. Jdog had no such issues and we were able to chew the fat for a couple of hours with great views across the Wolds. We got back to his house and read some of the abusive messaged posted by our fellow guns from the shoot day before while tucking into some bread and soup. It was the perfect day to clear ones head after the shoot dinner the night before. A cracking finish to a brilliant few days.
  15. Evening, I know cold cartridges can make a mess of the barrels, I'm not very worried about that. But will cartridges that have spent a couple of nights in the car boot in potentially cold temperatures work as well as ones lovingly kept inside, or even better, inside on a radiator? A friend I shot with on Tuesday on the amazing PW day kept his on the radiator all night before the shoot. I admire his dedication but I am lazy and am hoping everyone says it is fine to leave them in the boot (secure on private land ect). Also I read on a previous thread titled "cold cartridges" on post 4 that the topic starter "Could swap to a cold weather powder cartridge such as a jk6 or ch6". I happen to use JK6s but didn't know they were a cold weather cartridge? What is different about a cold weather cartridge....?
  16. What a brilliant day. There is not much I can add to the above reports. As has been pointed out we arrived slightly late due to no fault of our own. The residents of Market Rasen must have thought a famous rapper or perhaps a SWOT team was in town as we drove around the estate in circles in SNS's 110 Defender. However, had they been able to see past the chrome exterior, tinted windows and custom black rims, they would have seen four gentlemen nestled between pork pies, jars of mustard and cartridges with one or two going green as their hangovers gradually worsened. The first drive produced brilliant high partridge racing over undulating ground. Fenboy shot a fantastic high bird and Penelope was good enough to finish off a pheasant for me which I had winged . I was also pleased with a partridge I shot over Mark and Amy and enjoyed being able to see the line. We got back to the gun bus and began trying to cure our hangovers. I was serving and totally missing the glass, came within an inch of sloshing Champaign all over Mrs Penelope. This led to my prompt demotion from pouring duties. I was then tasked with looking after the ham but was outwitted by an extremely cunning spaniel on the second drive. The second drive was good but unfortunately Lloydie took a wrong turn and then decided to have a swim in a ditch to cool off whilst blaming Jdog's poor directions to the peg. The third drive has now become a scandal but one I am happy to be embroiled in as it was a pleasure watching Mrs SABS shoot some lovely birds. It was excellent to shoot with everyone and make some new friends. Jdog did a fantastic job managing us reprobates on a limited bag size. I hope that we continue to shoot game together for many years to come. CONGRATULATIONS to the future Mr and Mrs Penelope!!!
  17. Well done, I hope the tides are turning and they start to come back to the wolds.
  18. I'm going to bring some bits as well, I won't know what until I'm confronted by the boulangerie counter. Also thank you for booking taxis.
  19. My biggest concern is that we can't find a hamper big enough for the picnic selection Lloydie is bringing! On a serious note, yes its always a worry with lots of birds but everyone is sporting and even I can do 100 / 9 to roughly work out my fair share and select accordingly. Thanks for the list, it's going to be a great day.
  20. Not long now, can't wait! I am aware of several but can you confirm who from PW decided to join this year?
  21. Great fun shoot, gutted I missed it. Will need to get my act together if you book there next season!
  22. Very cold day but beautiful, the sort of day I dream to be shooting on! However this was a very fun substitute. We used Sardines and Sprats. This was my first time Pike fishing and really glad we caught one!
