  1. Wow.. Thank you for posting, simply fantastic. The weather and birds were very testing, I can get put off shooting next to a picker up eager to work his dog let alone someone I feel obliged to shoot my best for! Seemed like a nice chap and you clearly feel his tuition made a big difference which is all that is important. I hope to be able to shoot days like that one day.
  2. Cartridge wise you won't go far wrong with 32g 5s or 6s, make sure they are fibre wad. Not much more I can add regarding safety, I agree with the above. Tell the farmer in advance it is your first time. Shoot within your abilities taking shots at birds you feel confident about killing cleanly.
  3. Ha ha meant with the best intentions. He will be showing us all up by Jan I'm sure.
  4. Great video and shooting, not seen one that busy in a long time!
  5. It might do you good to realise how it feels to shoot like a mere mortal for a couple of weeks!
  6. I've been looking out for this post and it didn't disappoint! Very well done, very much looking forward to shooting with you in Jan.
  7. Wish I could make this but I can't, I shot there with the PW team last season and can vouch for the quality of the shoot.
  8. I loved it as well, similar but way better than top gear.
  9. They were waiting for me when I got back to my house today, they are great.
  10. Yes please. Will send PM.
  11. I have friends who have been and don't speak highly of the shoot
  12. They have just created anti's out of all the people who subscribe to that show who were previously on the fence. Very bad news for game shooting. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00dhljf
  13. You mean you just had to put up with hitting them in the breast rather than the head! I just went for 1/2 and 3/4 which are my normal chokes. I'm not holding out high hopes of seeing a marked improvement, but if there is I will be very happy.
  14. Very interesting that some people have noticed zero results when using them. I also agree that chokes never used to be a thing and that the purist view would be to keep whatever chokes you have in and just get on with it. In terms of it being more about putting the lead in the right place, yes of course it is! Yes - But the results vary depending on the cartridge used and I will be honest in that I haven't gone and bought a wide variety of cartridges to compare the results as I can't afford to. I only compared my normal ones that I have in stock for pigeons or game. I hope that with the Teagues I will seem more consistent results. As for my desired range, I don't know exactly what you mean. I would take a decoying pigeon at much closer ranges than I would a pheasants. The chokes I have bought are 1/2 and 3/4 so I have gone for fairly adaptable ones in terms of range on game. Maybe he has a tie. I prefer to take them at their word as he has a big media presence and his own brand to think about. I totally agree with you, pigeons can present such a wide range of targets you have to compromise. I haven't bought the chokes because I was missing what I was trying to kill and in need of lessons (although I could probably do with some!), but rather because I wanted to upgrade and most of the professionals seem to think Teague chokes are the best.
  15. Excellent report and day, looking forward to hopfully seeing the footage
  16. I attempted to do some research on this using the search function, I came across a 4 page topic which started well but ended badly. Some people like Teagues and others feel they don't make a difference. My hope is that they will produce an even and dense pattern at range. I also trusted the below testimonial made by Robert Everitt of Hull Cartridge Co and hope that it rings true: TEAGUE pattern kills! I would never have believed that a precision choke could make such a difference. Just as importantly, the information that I got from Nigel and Ivan has greatly improved my confidence. A 3/8ths choke that out -performs 1/2 and even 3/4 in some guns...That’s the edge I need..
  17. Congratulations, hope you have a good season
  18. Well done! Glad you got the over and under back out. How is your neck today?
  19. I've been looking out for this report for a few days but only just come across it. What a day! Great write up aga man. As you say, Jdog loves flighting but he also puts himself under a lot of pressure to find the birds when out with a guest (despite being told not to worry!) making this report extra special as it all seems to have come together fantastically for you both. Well done!
  20. Thanks Scots lad, good advice as always. Thank you Ian.
