  1. But surely that's why there are different organisations for different interests, if only the 8 or so orgs. that are supposed to represent Live quarry shooters did exactly that. May be if nothing else comes from this is we end up with one decent organisation that represents ALL shooting interests.
  2. Momentous occasion........we are finally in total, 100% agreement with each other....😃 we've see the NGO wriggling a bit as well lately to
  3. 10 years ago we had probarbly 5 or 6 Red Kites and nearly double that in Buzzards but now we have easily 10 times that in both. We have a couple of guys in the area who go round putting up Owl boxes we've 4 on the farm and most of the neighbouring farms have similar. In the last five or six years we've had Barn owls in one of our boxes none have made it past either hatching or fletching due to Carrion crows or Magpies taking them out of the boxes. We've had Kestrel's but i think it's lack of food mice etc. is the problem there. Before COVID struck i had to do another complusary coasre to maintain my spraying license, which one part was about Rodenticide Use and Secondary Poisoning. Apparently most of the modern poisons are pretty much ineffective at secondary poisoning now but very affective on rodents.
  4. But why are there so many more raptors now than 10 or 15 years ago. They scavenge pricked and unpicked birds so must pick up lead shot doing that. Far to many unqualified experts out there....i'm affaid
  5. Having just seen the news, The Government Food Strategy wild meat is on the agenda. Eat wild venison instead of beef. As i've already said can only see more COMPULSARY regulations coming. No SGC or FAC without all your certificates renewed every few years.
  6. I can only imagine they’ve moved slightly in there stance because I would think there membership has plummeted considerably over the last yet or two, as I’ve said before I spoke to a rep and had to put the phone down on him because of his appalling attitude. On a slightly different note the decline in availability of birds for this season has caused, 4 of the shoots I’ve drilled cover crops for this season, to cancel there season due to there poults order being cancelled in the last 5 days. They’ve all said if there is any sign of this next season that’s it. The shoots will be wound up and the cover crops put back in to being farmed. Conservation will be taking a back seat. Something for the BASC might like to consider.
  7. Just read 200 pages of it and it's does seem that a lot of it is supposition or a "SWAG". Not much of it is 100% proven as we've been lead to believe, too many if,buts and maybe's. But we will still end up being shafted
  8. Reference my second point, is the BASC,NGO, CLA, etc. and NFU to an existent etc, will cease to exist there will be no voice/representation for shooting agriculture etc. It would be swallowed up in one government body.it has already started with shooting with its own version of the Red Tractor scheme. It will also control environment scheme along with conservation projects. All these people employed in the above organisations will be looking employment within.
  9. Natural England are a very very poorly run department, ill informed waste of oxygen. The regulations they’ve instigated have done more harm than good to the countryside. This is were all this is heading one big government department for environment, farming and climate policies and the BASC etc. employees are putting there CV on the table for a ride on the gravy train
  10. Can’t consult with the Organisation’s it seems. The poo thickens and deepens.
  11. I paid direct, plus shipping one way which was £30. It is alot of money though but does secure it resale value. They are very good guns
  12. Browning told me my two fixed choke Miroku High Pheasant (3/4 and full choke) Warranties would be invalid if i'd used steel in them and if i'd alter them in any way ie. multi choke them. Lucky the 12 bore ran out last year 20 bore in November this year i think
  13. But that is all I’ve heard from The BASC etc. May be we’ll never know ! May be this will sieve out the sh!t and we’ll hopefully end up with a completely new shooting body that truly represents shooting.
  14. Ah..... the minimal risk in eating game shot with lead and the same proven minimal risk to the environment
  15. If there are allowances for Olympic standard, professional clay shooters how will any young decent shooter get to compete to be able to become an Olympic shooter, there will be no next generation.
  16. A very healthy food is still being produced though.
  17. Sounds like Teague Choke prices, had my Miroku High Pheasant multi choked last year, from memory the £30 extra was for HP Steel Proof which I had done. I may be wrong but they discharge an overloaded cartridge in each barrel then it’s stamped with the appropriate markings , Fleur de Leys etc. Or you get a box of scrap back if it failed. I have to say they did a first class job on my gun took about 3 to 4 weeks though
  18. Might be cheap, looking at the price of wheat today, futures price for next year looks better or worse depending on which side of the fence your sitting
  19. It will all eventually come under the Game Alliance scheme as it has in agricultures Red Tractor scheme. Then in the long term become a new department in DEFRA, Food and Fisheries etc, stricter controls, MORE compulsory regulation training etc. there for more, alot more expense. It will be endless regulation, comply or no shooting
  20. Mother used to do B+B for endless Europeans coming here pigeon shooting most brought cartriges here always lead and they ALL took pigeons back with them, popular in Europe by all accounts. And as i understand it the "Pigeon Guide" had a very healthy business supplying pigeons, shot with lead back to French and Belgium restaurants.
  21. NO !!! as i've said in another thread most i've known have if not all used lead for pigeon and game some still use plastic wads. It's a myth they prefer Steel.
  22. I would love to know what the experts think the actual area as a percentage of the UK is contaminated with lead shot. Compared to the area in which lead covers on roofs. Our church roof is nearly flat on the back of the church and Is a good 80ft x 40ft approx. All the gutters from that roof run straight down the drains to a water coarse not 100 yrds away🙏
  23. We’ve just started drilling game and cover crop and talking to shoot owners the signs aren’t good. They’re all looking at scaling right down or folding which means no game, cover or bird mix crops, a much bigger picture needs factoring in here. The few shoots we do work for spend on average £10,000 a year on seed alone. All will revert back to arable without shooting.
  24. From his CV he has done work for the RSPB. Which are another shambles wasting plenty of public money
