  1. This is the “Red Tractor” scheme for shooting, I would avoid this like the plague, yes it’s jobs for boys starts off all lovely and friendly then turns into legislation, licensing you can’t shoot without it. The standards there are now will be no better you’ll get no more for your game and all you’ll do is paid through the nose for it. Ask any farmer. It’s a dripping tap
  2. Excellent post. It does make you wonder. It's not that long ago either.
  3. Lets hope so, i'll bet there's not one senior member of staff there, they'll throw the new younger reps out there to face the roth of the shooting commuity. Hopefully it will be like agricultures Red Tractor cartell and noboby will want to work for them, and will just fail to be significant🤞
  4. I will be joining the CPSA in September when my BASC membership dies of self inflicted injuries, I did speak to a NGO rep and i had to put the phone down on him, his views were anti tradition, almost anti shooting. The buy back/ compensation thing will be very interesting, lets see how that pans out.
  5. Wouldn't worry about that useless bunch of t**ts they banned muck spreading in the autumn last year, then realised there would be millions of tonnes of humun sludge waste going to landfill or dumped in the sea as an emergency measure. Reminds me of the shooting organisations really, will say anything just to be heard and justify there being.
  6. Join the CPSA, shoot a few registered shoots job done they will never be able to define an elite shooter. I can see FITASC, English Sporting and Sim Days all fall by the way side. The CPSA can really benefit from this if they go about there business properly.
  7. Lets get it done, the sooner this short term complete ban on shooting comes the sooner the BASC etc. will disappear. Then hopefully the younger generation just starting in shooting just may get a chance to of a reorganised future without these worthless organisation. At least 2 billion pounds is what shooting is worth to the economy along with one hell of a lot of conservation all gone. We've been sorting out gamecover this week with several shoots, everyone has said to a person, that if they stop shooting all the gamecrop, wild bird cover, and envro. schemes stop too. In other words there shooting subs. the schemes.
  8. Had a quick read of the latest issue BASC comic at lunchtime, gone full on scaremongering on lead shot and public health this month, seem the environment claims have been a little bit undone by a report of 1500 nature reserves in 68 countries being no better than any other land not in reserves. Game shooting is hanging in the balance at the moment with Covid the last couple of years and now bird flu and the cost of rearing. They do seem to want to cut off the hand that feeds them.
  9. The BASC have reps that post regularly on here and to be fair to one, we exchange several emails when this first started, and to his credit we had a phone conversation for over an hour, out of his hours on a Saturday afternoon. So they are hearing what’s being said.
  10. Ah....there the difference see, sheep will eat the wad first just out of shear spite and the need to cause maximum aggravation for the farmer. On Christmas Day !!
  11. Well then it must be ok, happy days. Not sure your racehorse trainers/owners will be to chuffed his £500,000 pension fund goes T*ts up because of contaminated fodder
  12. There is a very high chance it could get raked in to the sward before the forager or baler pick it up which is why we only use fibre wads.
  13. I don’t know of anyone that’s died of lead poisoning from eating game ! But here we are. 😉
  14. Every shoot bar one of the 16 i shoot, beat or plant game cover on, have reduce numbers signicantly it's the only option to reduce costs.
  15. Have you not noticed the price of game shooting, the Executive committee will still need 3 days a week through the season to spread the "non lead" agenda. Yep they managed to keep the GP's letters just below a 100 bucks a signature or use one of there own reccomended companies
  16. They definittely use Lead and some use plastic wads when shooting pigeons over here,as do most if not all foriegn shooters
  17. When you speak to any of the cartridge company reps they are very reluctant to say what is in there wads, and the time scale for them to totally disappear, one quoted months not ideal for any livestock farmer. Our small friends and family shoot will have to stop if/when lead is banned, probarly along with all the birdstrips/gamecrops we and our neighbour plant for the shoot.
  18. Dairy and Beef produces have been feeding fodder and concentrates made on last years prices and prices have had to go up.Boy there will be a difference this year
  19. Clearly handing them in to the relivant authorities 🤣
  20. I like Fiocchi cartridges, GFL 28gr 20 bore as good as you'll get if can actually get them
  21. Wheat, Barley,OSR Beans etc. prices are no where near there peak yet you wait until October then the fur will fly.
  22. Couldn't agree more. I was lucky enough to go to a day with John Jefferies and his Perazzi guns, i tried 32",33" and 34" barrels in all sorts of guises. All pretty much balanced at the hinge pin but the one i really shot extremely well with, well above my average, was the 33" sporter, it was a wander for a very heavy gun.Would have had one there and then if i'd had a spare £10,000
  23. Is that why most of em come over here shooting the high bird shoots and pigeon, just saying.
