  1. Well done chaps, always nice when something unexpected turns up .......
  2. If it's stubble and you've not got a layout blind, I'd consider laying under a simple hessian sack and then throwing some straw over yourself. The sack should help it getting tangled up in your gun etc..... Set up your Deeks in an L shape and lay in the corner so you're not in the middle of line of sight of the landing geese. You'll have enough time to raise yourself and drop a couple. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to go after some pinks in an ex. beet field that was freshly drilled with wheat. No cover at all, just bare mud ..... and my layout would have stuck out like a sore thumb. The night before the event, I lay in bed thinking about how to get a shot or two, then had the inspiration I was looking for ... 30 mins later my layout blind was freshly coated in Ronseal dark oak fence paint, mixed with some mud. Thankfully my neighbours never saw me painting this on my front drive at 11 pm!! It worked a treat ... Keeping a low profile and still seems to work well.
  3. A local farmer heading towards retirement has shot a 16 bore since his teen years. He folds up most of what he shoots with the Rio's he uses ..... He's tried other things but is reluctant to change as his confidence is so high ..... personally I think it's due to the 2.75mm shot in their 6's carrying more down range energy.
  4. I've read Tom's article where he raves about PSB with Bismuth, but no data .... I do plan on buffering it, and was going to use a buffered lead load recipe using mix 47 and reduce the shot charge as a starting point ..... but any data appreciated. PSB can push pressures way high, so whilst it's tempting, I'll play it safe.
  5. Thanks P1 ..... This new stuff has no sign of a split, so at least it seems like one improvement has been made.
  6. That happened to one of my mates pigeon shooting in a wood last year ..... She said she was game .......... so he shot her ..
  7. A few things spring to mind .... Inbound Short Eared owls completing their migration. A couple of Spoonbills A fox flushed off by fowlers finishing their flight ... He bounded across the creek I was sat in and I caught him mid ships when he was at full stretch.... it was his last leap. One of my favourites was a rainbow of moonlight one evening .... Never knew they existed until I saw it there. Whoopers are quite enchanting under a silvery moon too ......
  8. Gents, Not looking to drag up the shattering issues of yesteryear on this. I have a couple of tubs of the new evo 3 Eley Bismuth brought in cheap from the U.S. in UK BB (0.16"). The latest formulation alleges to have addressed the brittleness of the shot. I'll be buffering it and putting it through an 8. Has anyone used the evo3 in BB? I'll get the opportunity to try it on Greys and Canada's before the winks get here, so I'll share my findings.
  9. Spurn point get's to see a fair bit, and I think I can remember links to the other sites which may interest ...
  10. Weather looks encouraging for migrants over the coming moon ... it'll be interesting to see what turns up.
  11. I'd like a few foreshore pinks with my new gun, and to do a bit more under the moon. A ringed goose would also be nice!
  12. Well, for the record, B&P tell me that it was just a packaging change ..... and the burn rate and characteristics of the powder were unaltered when they changed the packaging circa 10 years ago. Which was nice.
  13. It's not the biggest, but should be quite satisfying when I put it in the right place.
  14. Methinks the winks are in big trouble this year!
  15. There was a similar phenomena several years ago with the infamous bendy barrel Xtrema's. I had 2 which shot dead on with lead but threw the pattern to the left with steel. Apparently all to do with the resonance of the barrel. Many others have experienced the same, although I'm not sure if Beretta formally acknowledged it. The most recent models I believe are bang on .....
  16. The paper sticker has faded and is not visible. It was a sealed container, and smelled OK when opened.
  17. I think you'll kill a lot of stuff with that load .... most of what ends up in the bag is shot a lot less than 50 yards, and most of the time, who knows if it was in the middle of the pattern! I'd go with it, and consider aftermarket chokes if you feel yo need the improvement.
  18. Try putting the felt below the shot ..... it may be disrupting the pattern.
  19. Well folks, I guess this is the slippery slope towards Facebook! I'm guessing several of you on here know me ..... Based in South Lincs., I've been shooting since age 11, and along with knocking a few woodies over, I spend the winters out fowling on the Wash, and shoot on a local driven game syndicate. I've been reloading for 10 years now, and shoot 12's, a 10 and starting this year with an 8. So, hello to all those I know, and looking forwards to making some new acquaintances. Steve
  20. Gents, Looking for some help here... I've a tin of M92s that is in the original green B&P packaging and the flakes are a square cut silvery green colour. I've data in the 12, 10, and 8 for the 'new' powder, which I believe was updated in 1992. I'm not sure whether my powder is the old or new version? If it's the old version I could also do with some data! Any knowledge shared on this appreciated. Steve
