Sorry for the thread revival but I've just had a C&H come into my possession - I'm an RFD now - and like many, I'm struggling to date / identify this particular model. Serial number is 56821 and the barrels are inscribed 168 Piccadilly. London. I know they moved there is 1927 and 127 is now the Cavalry & Guards Club. 30" Barrels, 14 3/4" Stock, 2 1/2Chamber. Yes, I know... someone has been at those screws with a blunt pickaxe... I can only put a rough date range of circa 1932. Proof markings confirm London 1925 - 1954 Any help appreciated.

I could have not said about the sleeping tablets, but I know it could have been checked and then the situation would be worse, so I did what I thought was the best and was honest. So, by doing this, it has now caused more problems from reading various replies above and I don't get that - isn't honesty always the best policy??

Thinking in the cold light of day having slept on it, I can see the police position to a certain extent: They had a report that I had guns in the house and obviously had a duty to investigate. I would be very surprised if they had not checked on a computer to see if I did or did not hold a valid SGC so one can assume that they did know that I do hold a valid 'ticket' but still had to check. During the course of the conversation / inspection when it was mentioned if I was on any medication - as previously described I am - stuff for gout, painkillers from a recent operation and said sleeping tablets - this must of caused concern that coupled with the report, regardless of it being unfounded, they had to do what they did. Having spoken to a close friend, the general thought is that the report was made knowing the likely reaction - in a village it's a bit of a talking point to see armed police turning up at a Parish Councillor's house. I may be wrong, but I think spite played a major part in this.

I have spoken to my Dr and they are fully on side. It is not a legal requirement to do so I believe? I was a member of the NGO when I was running my shoot, but not at the moment as I do not (and have not) shot for a number of years. If I were to go back to shooting seriously, then I would re-join.

Sadly, not in any association anymore

OK, so long story short: Ex left 2 weeks ago and today at 5pm, I had a ARV team turn up as they "Had a report" I had guns in the house. They said where the guns were kept and wanted to have a look. I explained I had a SGC and was more than happy to get the keys to open my cabinet and show them my SGC as well. They were very polite and asked if I was on any medication - I said yes, stuff for gout, painkillers for my recent operation and sleeping tablets due to stress. They have now impounded my guns subject to a SGC review. They checked all the numbers against my ticket and all was OK, but why do I feel I'm the one in the wrong?

Driven day of 100 birds Gloucestershire.

Even as a newbie on the forum, I would be interested in the 100 day. Mind you, I'd probably only scare a few birds as haven't been out for a number of years... Even so, I feel I'd be doing my 'bit' for the economy by spending money on cartridges. -
Sure this has been covered many times before - it's like newbies on a Land Rover forum asking what's the biggest tyre they can fit on a gaylander - so my apologies! Want to start re-loading. Where do you start? Is there an idiots guide to reloading? ATM, only looking at SG Carts but will move to centrefire at some point - well, that is the plan.. I have purchased a RTO from a member on here, so the collection has started, but what else do you need? TIA

What is this strange contraption of which you speak?

Already in conversation...

What about Mossberg? Been looking around and they seem to be hardly ever mentioned...

I have a selection of them that are surplus to requirements - free to good home!

Thanks for the replies and assistance chaps. I've found both Clay & Game and SG Reloading on the interwebnet but not Myers or Deakin, any clues? Clearly, a decent idiots guide to reloading is required, so which book would you suggest? Sorry to ask so many basic / daft questions but I am (obviously) new to the whole re-loading thing! Do I also need any form of storage / purchase licence for this?

No, I know... I'm more interested in original fowling pieces than modern Spanish stuff.... I do have one original (and un-fired) 8B cartridge....will get a pic of it
