  1. Hi Guys (and Gals) (pc!) I have been airgunning for some years and now that im 18 i am about to apply for my firearms cert. I am not sure how much they cost but would like a middle range setup .22. Which i will use for vermin control. I will mainly be shooting rabbits and was wondering which rifle would be the best option for me. I am interested in the sako rifles and would prefer plastic or laminate so i dont have to worry too much about scratches etc. I am looking for something ranging from £300-£400 notes. Hope you can help Thanks James
  2. no word of a lie but my record is 15 with 2.5pints of milk it took some eatin but im 6' 7'' and 18 stone so i packed them away.
  3. Im sure alot of you fish as well as shoot and was wondering which fly or flies you have had the most success with? Still a bit cold for me anyone been out and what results have you had? Thanks Gentlemen
  4. Once shot a bird came down went to pick it and it flew to a nearby wood followed it and it had got itself into the the thickest brambles just above were the dog could get so i decided to shoot it out. Dog picked it up and gave it to me with its complete arseend gone. Better than it suffering though just not very nice for the dog or me. Spenner
  5. Dandylions are also a favoured food of the woodie and at this time of year they are growing faster than the grass so they are easy pickings. Spenner
  6. Still on the ivy berries get in the woods and sit tight. All over them this morning on my way to school
  7. The needlefish as there known in portugal are one of the strongest fish i have felt. Went out on the only boat we could find which was a shark fishing boat, trouble is the only sharks around were the captain and his mate. Anyway decided there was f$%k all about so through some rubby dubby over the edge and got some of the needlefish interested. I had a spotter on the top telling me when to strike and we got one and when there big they really go for it!! If any of you are bored on holiday like i was give it a go its worth it.
  8. I am very keen on a roost shoot and have had alot of success in a spinney on the area i shoot. What i want to ask is when do you move from the hide to the woods for the roost or when do you plan to get there for this time of year? I have noticed when im near my spinney in a hide birds go to roost from 1:30 shows there is plenty of food about for them. I try to get to the spinney for 2:00 and get quite good results. Is it the same everywhere? Also whats your biggest bag for a roost? Thanks
  9. Deffo Courting on the roofs. Its really warm and theydo think its spring Spen
  10. Got John Batleys 'Pigeon Shooter' off Amazon and its fantastic. Very usefull and i am slowly working my way through it. He really seems to know his stuff and everything he explains he will put a situation too so you know how and when to use it. It also has a very interesting french roost shooting section which i found interesting and the pictures made me want to have a go. The French may be strange in alot of ways but the way they shoot pigeons is amazing. Every member on this forum should purchase a copy. Its the only pigeon shooting book you'll ever need. Heres the Link for Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1...6958774-4968426 Hope thats a Help!!! Spenner
  11. Went out rough shooting in arable and finished with a roost shoot and came away with 4 pigeon. Looked in their crops and they were packed with ivy berries. On the walk round every tree with ivy on it had a pigeon and flocks of 50+ were in some of the big trees. Anyway Cranfield have you tasted Ivy Berries to know that they are bitter cos i thought they were poisonous. Spenner
  12. I dont understand people like that ive lived around the death of animals most of my life but i just couldnt imagine shooting an airrifle at a swan for fun. When i was a young kid i always got told by my grandparents that swans coulds break a mans arm or leg with their wings not once have i ever heard of one that has. Lets hope that the news will say; THUGS CRIPPLED BY HERO SWAN Spenner
