ferretmanabu
Nice shooting mate. How did you set up?
Elma Fud
We started off watching a field of freshly cut grass. The birds appeared to be flying straight down the middle of it. I have placed 3 gate sections in the form of a triangle to form a lard hide. At first both of us shot from this hide. Watching another flightline I decided to leave Pete and try again at a different hide some two hundred yards away. The first decoy pattern consisted of 15 dead birds on cradles. When I moved to the second hide I only took four birds and some cradles. Birds were well spaced out. Placed in a 180' arc in front of the hide. The furthest decoy bird was no more than 25 yards away. Birds decoyed readily to the second pattern, where as the birds coming into Pete were only having a look and required some long shots at times. We had a couple of lulls over the day. But when the birds did come in they came in with avengance. About 2pm Pete’s birds had dried up so he came down to my hide. At times the shooting was fast and furious. Ps We only shot 177 birds. The last 5 birds came the crow trap, top left hand side of the picture. EF
