chrispti
Popped out again this afternoon at 13.30, and set up near to a flight line on a ploughed barley field. Put 10 shells with sillosock jackets on and 10 flocked shells out, all on spring sticks. The birds where showing an interest straight away but didn't want to come too close Placed the magnet out just in front of the hide with some plastic flying decoys on to see if this would encourage them in a bit. This seemed to pull the birds around to the front of the pattern, (not where I wanted them!! ) although still reluctant to come near to the pattern a few came into range and they were promptly given the good news I then thought perhaps the pattern looked too ''busy'' with all those decoys out so I took the flocked ones in and placed a flapper and a single bouncer out....... Problem solved, the birds started to commit to the decoys I wonder if the birds didn't like the pattern because there was too many decoys out or because they were different looking decoys :o Any way, packed up at 17.30 with about 50 pigeons (46 picked up) and a rook Edited October 4, 2009 by chrispti

Cosd
Nice one mate, goes to show that changing the pattern round does pay off. I once had a situation where they just steered clear of the bouncer and kept giving it a 40 yard wide birth and always outside my shooting range. It would have been pointless taking it down because the crop was too high for my decoys and I didn't have the magnet or anything I could raise the decoys with. So I moved the bouncer out about 50 yards away from the hide and they gave it a wide birth but closer to the hide and within shooting distance.
