ShaggyRS6
Tonight on my Lab on the top of her rear paw I noticed a lump. On closer inspection it looks like she had a thorn in her foot that her body was now trying to push out. I did try and pull it but it looks to be attached by some skin (dead or alive I dont know) so after 10 mins being careful and not really getting anywhere I stopped. the wound itself is maybe 2mm deep and 3mm wide, you can see some red flesh. I have cleaned it out with an antiseptic wipe. Worth going to the vets? or should I leave it a day or so? She does not seem troubled by it and in fact until i started playing around with it she did not know it was there. Hezbear
Get it removed at the vets as it could get infected and lead to a bigger bill
apache
Get it checked out at the vets before infection sets in.

mikee
baith the foot in salt water mater will draw the infection and the thorn i agree, there's no need for the vet, just bathe a few times each day with warm salty water and the thorn will come out, probably in a wadge of puss, just keep on with the salty water for a day or two after the thorn has come out and all will be right my dogs regularly get this from dry reed beds in the winter, just check the feet over when you get home from shooting, if you see any cuts or thorns get the salty water out mikee
deeksofdoom
I got this stuff in the vets its called Alamycin its an antiseptic/antibiotic spray I think its for cattle and horses...... anyway it works a treat on dogs aswell, give them a shot of that every time they cut themselves. ShaggyRS6
Thanks for the comments guys. I left the dog last night to take the thorn out as, as I have mentioned she became aware of it's presence once I showed her. This morning the wound was a tad red with some puss so I took her to the vets. They gave her an antibiotic shot and anti inflamatory one? They shaved the area of the wound cleaned it and then asked us to bath it two times a day. They then commented on how good looking she is and that she was .5 kilo underweight  First lab I have had that actually was underwear eight so I am happy about that, just need to add a little more food in I guess. They say 30% less after A spay but then I guess they don't assume my dog is out for 2 hours a day everyday. Thanks again for the advice
al4x
I'd leave the food at that shaggy, being a lab its easier to keep them slightly thin than to get weight off them
