.410 Cartridges

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just bought an over and under 3 inch .410 and am wondering what ammo would be best for general rough shooting,

Eley do a 18 gram load in 5, 6 or 7's in fibre wad, im not really sure what other manufacturers do?

am i better off with the bigger pellets and less of them, or more number 7 shot? - mostly for pigeons and such like

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

hi lads i've just got a 410 (bikel fully mod) i know they say use 3'' subsonic's ,but i was wondering also if i could use other 's with it being moderated and if so what ? which would be the best ones for distance ect. thanks sorry for sounding a plank

You can use any .410 cartridge, but obviously the super sonic ones won't be moderated properly. The Hushpower mod will take the edge off the bang, though.

For distance, I'd be sticking with the no. 6 shot. .410s tend to be fully choked, so the narrow string should still put a few pellets in the right place.

Unless you have too be ultra silent , normal 3 inch will do ,or close range work 2 inch , the sub sonic's are hard to get I have the nine inch moderated model and in open space's it is fairly quiet with the 3 inch , but makes a bit of a bang near buildings .best of luck FARM BOY

I agree with Rascal, My son uses Eley 3" 6s @ 30 yards as said works a treat.

the only thing is price of course around £7.00 a box.

He's 410 is currently un- moderated and using the Gamebore version carts seem to be much much more quite......

We gave our friend a Eley to try and a Gambore in there O/U 410 and the difference was un real in noise level.

Is would appear Gambore was better for noise levels with the same load and size etc.

There you go my penny's worth.
