Pinkfooty
A first attempt at a club video. We'll make a better one next year! See it here. As always with YouTube, if your broadband connection is slow, then almost as soon as the video has started, click on the Pause button and go and make a cup of coffee to let the film download. Then start it again.
docholiday
Eric Many thanks for the video, I have used your sight and have tried to become more actively involved in wildfowling. I wonder if you can offer any help. I live in Lymington, Hampshire, after trying Christchurch I was put off by internal polotics, cant shoot the foreshore/Harbour for one year, have access to ponds in that first year but no water in ponds and a member warned me off. plus no semi automatics. Tried Lymington and Keyhaven but didnt get any joy, seems a very closed group of old timers who I am told mainly are interested in the egg collection from the marshes. Langstone seems well organizes but a little far and you need a boat for Poole. Have you any contacts you can put me in touch with or ideas, Doc Edited October 20, 2009 by docholiday

Have you any contacts you can put me in touch with or ideas, Doc Doc, There was recently an amalgamation of three clubs on the south coast - Chichester, Pagham and Emslie if I remember rightly. You should be able to make contact through the BASC regional office. A lot of clubs do run "probationary" schemes so that they know new members are familiar with boundaries, etc., before going out alone. Best plan, after joining a club, is to volunteer for all the work parties, etc., so that you get to know existing members. As with any club, you only get out what you put into it. If you are a member of the Wildfowling Forum, then try sending a PM to Chi Fowler, South Coast Fowler or Nick H. Good luck.

Pinkfooty
Just another thought Doc. It's a wee bit of a journey for you, but the Kent wildfowling club might be worth a shout. They now own over £1.5-million's worth of their own land and also have roughshooting as well as wildfowling, some of which stretches into East Sussex. Pinkfooty
Ive seen that clip in James Douglas' video "The Wildfowler". That was atleast 10 years ago Great video anyway. Looking forward to seeing the next one. Well spotted Swingthrough. It was actually over 20 years ago. I never got the promised payment (£20 - which was a lot of money at the time) for taking part in that video, so felt justified in using the clip to open the club video. By the way, that dog, Moy, was the best labrador I ever had. I wish I had taken more pups from her. She only had one litter although one of her pups was placed in the Retriever Championship two years in succession. Interestingly, the "location" of that clip is now a no-shooting zone on the Tay Estuary. How things change.
DoubleTap
Ive seen that video aswell. It may be over 20 years old but it still is a great video. Ive got The Wildfowler on tape. I still watch it now She looks a lovely dog. My friend has got a lab (non-worker) and they have been feeding it treats to praise it. It has now got fat and can hardly move round the house. Its not old either, they got it 2 years ago. Its sad when you see them like that, i dont believe in having a dog just for a pet. Ive got a springer and she works very well. Its a delight to see her working, espesially when she goes off to retrieve a winged goose.
