Surely new ones, like the Beretta Silver Hawk in this list, are steel proofed?

http://www.guntrader.co.uk/3rdparty/Chiche...p?filter=SG-SxS

A winchester model 23 is a 3" chamber but it is not proofed for High performance steel loads, they are at the end of the day a gun last made in the 80's.

A zabala 3 1/2" are an option, and also have a double discarge facility, although I will say I was with a guy who done it on the river wall once, an experience he would never repeat as in his own words 'It truly is the button of armageddon'

The remington side by side is 3" steel shot proofed, but effectively it is a Baikal, reasonable money though at around 450 quid.

All the the other new model sbs's AYA,Ugartechea,Fabarm etc all have 2 3/34" chambers

In a moment of weakness i bought a Winchester SX3 semi auto 3" which is gas operated some told me to make sure i used clean burning cartridges to keep the inside of the gun clean, what cartridges in 3" steel do you recamend i've only shot the 1 evening flight with steel and my mates Winchester he gave me Express 36 gram steel no3s they did the job ok i shot 3 Mallard and 1 teal all stone dead with 4 shots but to be fair they were all with in 30 yards so what are you wildfowling boys using ?

In 3" I use Remington Hi Speed steel in 4's, they are a damn good cartridge and will stop anything within a sensible range. My favourite cartridge is a 3 1/2" Remington Hi Speed steel in a 2 though.

I have used Express Supreme Steel to great effect as well, although they are 2 3/4" in a 4.

Keep to reasonable shot sizes and you won't go wrong. 4's are the smallest I will shoot at fowl.
