unclestuffy
This may seem a daft question but the farmer has cut his hedges down to about three foot hight and being a tall lad I can't get low enough so my head is below the hedge line... and the hide poles stick up over the profile too. Stooping so low is taking time to pop up and shoot, whilst hurting my knees and back and I am not a spring chicken any more. What is the best thing to do in this situation? Thank you for your help
Beardo
dig a hole to stand in
codling99
chuck a net over top of hedge to poles to cover you,if poles go high enough that is.
Cranfield
Shoot sitting down and the "dig a hole" suggestion does work. I am often shooting with virtually no background and the birds don't seem to mind a lump of vegetation (my low profile hide), on the edge of the field. To me, a 3ft hedge would be a luxury. unclestuffy
Thank you for your suggestions. I will give a try. I presume that if you put a net over the hedge you stand with your back to it and not shooting over it?? if you get my drift?
Harnser
You could set your nets up so that they are up high and use them as back cover and use the hedge as the front of the hide and shoot over the top of it . A 3 foot high hedge ? pure luxury . Harnser .
malkiserow
Ask one of those nice men who fought for us in the 14-18 war! but very like the first reply! you could "plant" 2 decent size branches either side of you in the middle of the hedge so the low hedge supports them and you tuck inbetween them - maybe add netting as background cover

Greenhunter
Shooting over clover with just a barbed-wire fence for cover proved no problem. I hung one net off the fence to shoot over and set the other net high on the poles as a back-drop. The pigeons didn't react to this strange mound where there had been nothing before and decoyed really well GH
Lez325
I tend to sit on my bucket to shoot where cover and backdrop is low- seem to work ok although not so easy to swing and follow a side on bird- good for head on shooting though when the wind is behind me Les
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Definately sitting with your back to the hedge to start with. Get some secatuers & snip into the hedge for a bit more cover.
weejase
My stealth net Is big enough to make a four sided square hide there`s enough room for just myself and I sit with my gun vertical so I don`t have to swing and catch the sides of the net
