kermitpwee
Hi folks, need your help. I need a jeep for doing a bit of shooting. I was thinking of putting a set of all terrain tyres on vitara. I wont be going anywhere very rough but dont want to get stuck with a car when i pull in on the ditch or down a grass road etc. Im looking at Suzuki Vitara's from 1991 to 01. Which is better the 1.6 petrol or the diesel? How are they for reliability? Any known problems? If i put good all terrain tyres on it will it get me out of spots a car wouldn't? Im thinking the lwb would be better.
apache
We had an old one until a few years ago. Never got it stuck, just had mud and snow tires, nothing major there. Nice and light. We had a SWB.
robmiller
SWB are very small. I have a LWB, plenty of room, W reg. Fine for messing about it.
Spaniel
yep swb are tight on space but i manage 2xspringers, pigeon gear and guns with 2xadults at a tight squeeze....just no room for any pigeons......which is good news as i dont hit many  B)
cooter
I just sold an old (1993) LWB, and it was brilliant. The 16v petrol is very quiet, and very easy to get around in. It did mid twenties off road, and around the low thirties on road, but it was not a well car, and a good one would probably have better economy. smig4373
I had the 1.6i hardtop...Never got stuck.Roof comes off easy....I picked it up for £500 with a years MOT on it...Cheap to run and insure...Take the back seats out,Very easy job..This opens the back up a little more....

Bull
Kermitpeewee, I currently have a 2litre petrol LWB Vitara - this is my second LWB. I have also had 3 SWB Suzukis over the years. I have also owned landies, a Kia Sportage,Diatsu Sportstrack and an Izuzu Trooper. Fitted with all terrain tyres the vitara (or an SJ410/3) will go anywhere any other 4 x 4 will go. Being lighter and smaller they can go where bigger 4 x 4 's can't. Though parts are expensive I would opt for a Suzuki any day. Hope this assists, Bull

Fisherman Mike
I once had a 2.5 V6 Vit It was a wonderful vehicle, the low range was especially good. There was nowhere it wouldnt go ( apart from under 8ft of water or more) If it hadnt been so thirsty i would probabaly still have it now. The Vitara is a tough and thoroughly reliable car in all models.
