ollie
As I said in my woodcock thread we had saw quite a lot of pigeons the previous day so thought we would give them a try on Sunday evening. There were quite a lot of birds about and the strong winds made for some really testing shooting. We ended up shooting 12 pigeons, not a huge bag by some standards but for our area which doesn't have a huge population of pigeons it was reasonable enough. We shot 6 each and I was quite proud of this saying I only fired 10 shots. Pics attached myself with the bag and my mate with the bag. I want to try roost shooting as there is a relly good wood nearby. Did you just stand and wait? Well its a small wood so 1 of us stood at each end. But because we are familiar with the wood we know the favourite roosting spots. Generally if there are pigeons roosting in your wood look for there droppings and a suitable clearance on the in the trees on the down wind side as the pigeons will have to land into the wind. In my opinion roost shooting is some of the finest sports as there is a lot of snap shots and on a windy night it can make for challenging shooting.
