Roly
There seems to be a lot of Crown Estate land around my way and wondered if anyone has permissions on this type of owned land or experience of trying to obtain permissions before I attempt to knock on doors. Is it a waste of time due to the way they are managed? Any tips or advice welcome. I don't want to upset her Maj or in end up in the Tower!! Thanks in advance Roly
steve0146
I have permission on 16 crown estate farms. The right to game may be let out through the tennants agreement but they can let one person on the land to control vermin. Go knock and see what they say. It will either be a yes or no! cooter
Roly, I think I know the one you mean, he has a few lads shooting there. I shot it this year and there are far to many footpaths across it, so the hours are very restricted. Lots to get next to the golf course though. Very tricky at night due to the dog walkers, joggers, drunks, tramps etc. He also runs a shoot once a year from September to December when there is no other shooting allowed. But if it's your first permission just go for it, he's a reasonable guy. One thing is you must have insurance. ATB Cooter.
Roly
Cooter, I don't think this is the one I had in mind as i'm sure there is no golf course on the boundary. I could be wrong though. I'll check it out. From your description it sounds like a bit of a nightmare with the drunks and tramps etc , you sure this isn't Wardown Park in Luton Town Centre! With regards to insurance, I wouldn't shoot without it so no worries there as fully insured through BASC. Cheers Roly

I shoot the other side of the golf course I think you mean He notified us that the shoots were beginning last week, but I don't think there was a shoot, as I can normally hear them from my house and I heard nothing.
al4x
Is it South Beds Golf course? If so its surrounded by 3 different farms two shot on saturday and the other shoots tomorrow, If its the farm I'm thinking of I've shot it once with my mate who does the spraying theres certainly a few rabbits about ours have surffered the wrath of the HMR and we're hardly seeing any Edited November 25, 2009 by al4x
cooter
Thats the golf course. Most of the bunnies come from the nature reserve, through the golf course and eat what they can. A few of us did a night shoot along the border with the Icknield way, and got so many we got bored with it. It would be better if we could shoot the golf course, as that is the route cause, but it's not going to happen, they are dead set against guns, or at least the one who could say yes is. Although I was out very early one morning and thought there was an American Civil war re-enactment going on. It was two blokes walking around the course with 12g blasting anything that was about. I spoke with the green keepers, incase they had had a change of heart, and they knew nothing about it. al4x
the funny thing is we never see them on the other side as we start from the icknield way and go towards Lilley, been shooting it for years and though we shoot foxes the other side of the course I've not seen a rabbit up there ever. Its always a bit dubious lamping that stretch as the Icknield way has decent hedges on to hide the cyclists and joggers just means we usually lamp from it and drive off it to take a shot. Had 8 foxes round there so far this year and my mate has had 9 so they're a lot thinner on the ground at the moment. Rabbits wise though we probably haven't shot 20 on the whole 500 acres just don't seem to be about this year
